Do not purchase from Rooms To Go. I purchased for the first time from them a few months ago - a large floor standing mirror. It was delivered damaged, I didn't think anything of it just requested a replacement - 4 replacements later they still could not deliver an undamaged piece. I placed several calls requesting to speak to a manager - but when you call they cant put you on the phone with them, they have to submit a request to have the manager call you back which is obscene. I filed a complaint with my credit card company thinking that would get them to call me back but nothing has work. This was the first time that I ever purchased anything from Rooms to Go and I have never been so disappointed with quality and customer service in my life.
I would not recommend Rooms to Go to anyone looking for a hassel-free experience. We purchased a sofa, love-seat, end table, coffee table, and lamp. The coffee table was delivered damaged - which was fine because the customer service person we spoke to was very pleasant and arranged to have it replaced. The wrong lamp was delivered. However, not only was this the wrong lamp - the sales lady wrote the wrong part # and so because it "was on our order" we had a time and a half trying to get the correct lamp. We called and the sales lady wasn't in yet so the gentleman said he'd have her call us back. Well, that never happened. So, we called again and someone said they would arrange for someone to deliver the proper lamp and take the incorrect lamp. After a few days without a call regarding delivery times, we called back. There was no record of us even having called about the wrong lamp. So, the person at Rooms to Go just straight up lied to us over the phone. Finally, we called back again and told them AGAIN the proper lamp # we wanted. After hours on the phone with these incompetent people we are finally getting the lamp we ordered. I wouldn't recommend using this company unless you want to work with people who once they make the sale could care less what happened during delivery.
Okay furniture for the price. Really stinks that they charge so much for delivery... and you cannot pick your delivery time frame, they just call and tell you and if you can't be home then tough, you don't get your furniture. Very strange!
Do NOT mess with this or any rooms to go ... They sell the extended warranty and then when it comes to use it it's basically a waste of money, I've had a living room set and dinning room set that looks like crap now only after 2 months of using it... 2k + for furniture that I won't even use after another year ....
Don't buy the Extended Warranty – I bought a kids bedroom set for my little girl back on 2008. One of the rails broke on the bed and I called the extended warranty company to have it fixed. It took 3 months for someone to come and look at the bed. During that time of waiting, I patched the rail myself because I didnt want my daughter sleeping on the floor. After the inspector looked at the bed and sent it into the insurance company, we get a letter of denial and a 65.00 bill for the inspector coming out. I called the compnay and they said that it was an unauthorized fix so they wont honor the warranty. I believe that this is wrong and I want to warn others about the extended warranty.
WORST SALESREP & CUSTOMER SERVICE – I Ordered a Bed Recently and Salesrep was in a hurry to book the order
The King bed I Ordered had
1) Headboard (Cherry RETRO)
2) Foot Board (Cherry RETRO)
3) Rails (Cherry TOBBACO)
He ordered it this way,
But when I got the Delivery they got me everythig as Cherry TOBBACO
I asked them to switch to Cherry RETRO which was my order except the RAILS and I also Requested them to switch RAILS to Cherry RETRO for which I got a negative answer.
First of All
1) Salesrep Ordered different Colors for the bed
2) The delivery was screwed up
3) They did not switch the Rails to the Color I needed.
DO NOT BUY IN ROOMS TO GO , NO NEVER
AWFUL quality couple with terrible customer service – Glenwood Ave. store: Terrible salespeople. They ignore you when you walk in, and wait until you ask a question to even engage. But, whatever, this is pretty typical these days in retail.
The quality of the furniture quite frankly, stinks. I know they "don't make them like they used to" and this definitely applies to furniture these days but we are on our 2nd set of RTG Living Room furniture and it is a joke. I thought after the first one that maybe it was just us, that perhaps we are just "rough" on things but just read the reviews! My in laws own a sofa that is 25 years old and looks younger than our 1.5 year old RTG sofa. Believe me I am kicking myself for going back a 2nd time.
Our latest sofa started "squeaking" (wood frame making noises) about 6 mos in but there was nothing truly "wrong" with it so I accepted we'd have to live with it. I made a mental note to just save a little longer and buy a better sofa next time. Fast forward to this week when our 185lb friend sat down on the thing and something just 'popped'. Looking at the back of the sofa some part of the frame is now poking out, about to tear through the upholstery. I called RTG customer service and they tell me I am 3 mos out of warranty and there is nothing they can do to help. I explained this started 6 mos in and she said "but you never called"... I explained that it wasn't actually broken at that time...YET. I guarantee that had I called when it started they'd have said "nothing is wrong" and I'd have been right where I am now since the final "break" came after the warranty expired. Realizing I wasn't going to get anywhere with her, I asked her if I could at least have someone come out and I'd pay for the repair if it came down to it. She said "We can't help you with that". She was an awful cust service rep, by the way. She didn;t even feign sympathy or understanding.
I bought the "3 yr service plan" with the sofa by the way--she said THAT only covers fabric. When I told her this frame piece was definitely going to tear through the fabric at some point she sighed and said "Is it stained? The plan covers stains, not tears". I give up.
If these quality issues were atypical, I think they might have been a bit more accomodating. But since crappy furniture appears to be RTG standard, and they rely on cheap prices to sell lots if furniture they don't really care. If they had to attend to all of the broken down pieces they sell they'd go out of business.
Just Plain Rude – All I have to say is every single sales associate in that store is extremely rude. No one helps you and when you ask them a question they act like they are busy doing something and you are bothering them. At one point, there was about 15 men sitting on all the furniture talking and not one acknowledged we were looking for furniture. Another point we asked about a price and the guy turned to us and goes "I don't work in this department you need to ask someone else" in a rude way and than literally yelled for a woman to come help us (he was rude to her too). It took her a good 5-10 minutes to come help me and she was rude to me as well when I was trying to ask questions about the table. Never again. Waste of my time.
Shopping at Rooms To Go is a huge mistake. – My rating would be zero stars but that option isn't available. My wife and I purchased a living room set from Rooms To Go in February of 2009. One morning in early November 2009 one of the ottomans snapped when my wife sat on it. Now, she is not a heavy girl – 5’11’ or so and about 160lbs – and I am 6’1” and about 175lbs. We take good care of our furniture and other possessions, and this furniture is not abused or stressed past the expected tolerances in any way. A technician came to the house to repair the ottoman and I asked him if he would also inspect the couch, which was making some creaking noises. He said he had a busy day that day and would rather not, but to call if we had any problems. Then in early January 2010, my wife and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie. I got up to get something to drink and when I came back to the couch and sat down we heard a snap and the middle of the couch dropped to the floor. The frame had actually snapped in the middle under the front of the cushions. The company sent the same technician back and he said the damage was our fault, so it would not be repaired even though it was still under warranty. Then the company sent a second technician out who said the same thing. In early February we went to the Raleigh Rooms To Go store and spoke to the manager. He said he would look into the matter for us and since then has broken his promise several times to call us with updates. He also does not return our messages. In the meantime we still have to make payments on this broken furniture that the company refuses to repair under warranty. Do not shop here. Spend a little more money somewhere else and get the customer service you deserve. We will never shop at Rooms To Go ever again.
Waste of your time and money. – My wife and I came in here to purchase new furniture for our new home and the service we received was absolutely horrible.
The lady that 'helped' us made numerous mentions to "the amazing weekend of sales they had on presidents day", and quite frankly did nothing else, she wasn't even interested in selling us anything because they had "such a great weekend". Are you kidding me? I've never felt so cheap in my entire life.
She further stepped on my toes when she implied that I was rude because I interrupted her, to ask real questions about the items we were actually interested in and not listen to her practiced dogmatic spiels.
What made it worse was the fact that this was all enunciated by her southern drawl which was SO THICK it made me question if I have been living here in the South for close to 20 years or not.
Couple this with the fact that items look no where near as nice as they do online... and then add up the fact that nearly everything in the store won't be delivered for 1-3 months... why would you buy from here?
These guys have Bad service, bad products, bad delivery.
My advice, do what we did, go to the Room Store up the road, ask for Mark or Kimberly, they will deal with you, bargain nominally, and give you better furniture than Rooms To Go. They were friendly, honest as hell, gave us exactly what we wanted at the price we wanted to pay. They even worked with us on the delivery dates, we are now getting our furniture in 5 days. Rooms To Go would have given us our furniture in 75 days.
I'm going to them from here on out for any future furniture purchases.
