Awesome service the first time I went to Wicked pixie I loved it I was fully satisfied Courtney is great she did my hair I am deffinity going back very friendly...
I have been going to Wicked Pixie for over 2 years. The stylist I go to is Savannah- she has styled my hair since it was long with bangs, to the progressively short a-line hair cuts, to the VERY short asymmetrical pixie cut I got from her last. I am always happy with Savannah, she takes out all the stops to make sure I leave happy. She genuinely listens to what I say when I describe what I want, she'll make alterations with NO complaints whatsoever if I want something a little shorter/choppier/straighter, overall her work is great. I have even given her some creative freedom when I've had my super short hair- she did some awesome highlights for me and she decided how the back would be styled. I would definitely recommend her to anyone, especially with all of the different hair styles she has seen me though.
I began using Wicked Pixie as my salon about a year ago - and I'm very pleased.
My stylist, Courtney, is talented with coloring and cutting-I always come away feeling 10 years younger and hip..pretty good for an official senior citizen.
Courtney has a full staff of 4 stylists at her salon which means there is usually someone available in case of emergency....but the best news is that you can schedule online. Thats a real convenience.
I don't review much, but when I come across a place that excels in what they do I think it's important to offer support...
Whats really nice is that Courtney doesn't try to wedge me into an old lady style, an experience I've run across at other salons..we aren't all interested in pincurls and hairspray helmets....
Wicked Pixie rocks!
Do not let "stylist" Marci near your hair, she doesn't care or listen to what you want. The salon is filthy. Marci was given a photo for inspiration and glanced at it for a millisecond then said she was ready. Needless to say, my hair turned out NOTHING like what I asked for. Then she had the nerve to actually ASK for a tip....unprofessional to say the least. Bottom line: You have choices, if you choose Wiked Pixie...just don't go to Marci.
Awesome Service!! – I have been a client of the Wicked Pixie Salon at both locations. Courtney does awesome hair color and is very positive and upbeat. I was a client of hers in Arizona and I now travel from Arizona to Oregon to have my hair done by her. The salon decor has never been my main concern, although I have to say it is quite FUN and FUNKY! The talent, technique, and character of the stylist is what matters. At the end of the day I am the one that looks fabulous. There is an amazing team effort within this place. Marci and Savannah have a great personality and are always more that happy to help each other out. I would highly recommend the Wicked Pixie Salon to anyone!
Questionable practices, no customer service – After months of home color and terrible hair cuts after my stylist moved away, I saw an ad for Wicked Pixie Salon with fabulous hair color that really caught my eye. I made an appointment with Marci for a cut and color. When I got to the salon, I was not terribly impressed with the decor or cleanliness, but a cup of coffee and a desperate need for a haircut convinced me to give it a shot.
The first cut/color took a VERY long time (over five hours), but I wanted a complicated style with multiple colors, so I was willing to be patient. I was assured that future sessions would be shorter. My hair looked truly amazing, so I figured it was worth it.
Future appointments took nearly as long-- I learned to book out an entire afternoon, as I spent a lot of time waiting for Marci to rinse me, or mix more color, or dry my hair so she could add more color... She never took any notes or followed the same process twice.
The gossip that I heard in the place was crazy-- they even talked about other clients. I just kept my mouth shut and didn't share anything. Courtney always seems to have some sort of major interpersonal drama going on, and it is somewhat amusing to watch.
For the next few cut/colors, my hair continued to look fantastic, but the time I was spending in the salon was ridiculous. However, as I wanted to build a relationship with a decent stylist, and she was doing good things for my hair, I brought all my daughters, a couple of friends, and my mother-in-law to see her.
I have spent nearly $200 every time I have seen Marci, and I thought it was worth it-- until the last time. My color was uneven and showed obvious missed spots, my cut was rushed and not as good, and I had to return the following week to get it all repaired. Marci seemed resentful and asked what I had done differently-- as though it were my fault.
Now, I can't seem to get an appointment with her, as she doesn't return phone calls and is booked whenever I can get a half day free to see her. Also, there seems to be some new issue with food and drink in the salon, so don't expect to be offered any beverage. Last time I was there, I got water in a dirty glass, after I had been there for 3 hours and asked for it. There were several piles of hair on the sidewalk outside the door, drifts of hair under furniture inside, and the restroom was flat-out filthy.
My advice, for what it is worth-- visit Wicked Pixie at your own discretion. They seem to do good work (most of the time) without actually having a lot of respect for their clients. Don't say anything worth repeating, as you can be sure that you will be the topic of discussion after you leave. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
can you even get an appointment?! – why is it so hard to make an appointment? I've tried 4 times over the past 2 days -- no one has answered the phone, or called me back.
Great salon, quality beauticians – I've been going to Wicked Pixie for over a year now to get my hair cut by Courtney. I have enjoyed every visit and been very happy with the results each time. Over time I've met all the women who work at the salon, and it's a joy to go in and catch up with them.
To speak to the last review, Courtney is a great listener and very interested in others' lives. It's good for a stylist to be conversational. Courtney both shares about her own life and listens to clients, to the result that clients are at ease and comfortable with her.
I have, without fail, had a good time at Wicked Pixie and left with a great haircut.
Can't take it anymore – I have had appointments to this salon on a few occasions. All have been with owner Courtney. You never know what you are going to get on each visit. Your experience is never about you as a client, its about her and her personal life or what she is going to do with the salon next. At one point I felt bad for the girl. When I go to a salon it's me time not the person cutting my hair time. Her prices seem to fluxuate, but don't get me wrong they are good.. I have heard that others in the salon charge differently. The amount of time it takes her is a little ridiculous. She does a decent job but never really listens to my idea's and does what she wants. And it's not like I am saying make me look like this person or that person. When I have been served a beverage the glass is always dirty or will have something floating in it. I have seen her go from working on someone's feet or nails and then right to someone's hair with no washing of her hands, only a wipe off on her apron. From the looks of the salon I am guessing it has never had a visit from the state board. I really tried to support a new business within my community but back to a salon in Portland I go.
Courtney is AMAZING! – Courtney saved my hair!
I have used box dyes for years, knowing it was probably too harsh but being too cheap to shell out money to go see a professional. Last spring I made a huge error and used a box kit go go a copper red. Within 2 weeks I had this weird brassy color on my roots and my ends were a pale strawberry. I spent MONTHS using at home kits trying to get my hair to look normal, nothing would 'stick' I was in a panic. My ends were always a different color than my roots and it was getting worse every time I dyed my hair. Super cheapskate that I am I finally admitted to myself that I needed professional hair help. I'd been told that Courtney specialized in 'fixing' problems, so I figured she was my girl. She does not just fix problems, she is A MIRACLE WORKER with hair! I can't recommend her highly enough!
When I went in for my first ever appointment I was sure that she was going to have to cut at least 5 inches off my length because it was so 'fried'. I closed my eyes and told her to do whatever she needed to just make my hair look mostly normal. She poured me a glass of wine, and told me everything was going to be alright. She let me know it was going to take a while, but that she knew she could not only 'fix' my color, she could make it look great without having to remove too much length. While she worked she explained why I was having trouble with the box colors not taking on my ends. I never felt like she judged me or treated me like "this is your own fault" she just kindly explained what I was doing that was damaging my hair.
I was fascinated watching her weave colors into my hair. She is so careful, she REALLY cares that she gets the weave perfect. The only word to use for her technique is "meticulous". I think she wove 2 colors into my hair and then she did some sort of rinse with a 3rd color. She also used some sort of moisture reconstructor / detox pack AND offered to give me a manicure while I waited for my hair to process.
When I walked out of Wicked Pixie that first time my hair looked PERFECT! It did not look "ok" it did not look "good" It looked "Hollywood Perfect" I never knew my hair could look THAT amazing. The color she put in my hair stayed true. The moisture conditioner I bought from her helps keeps my hair soft.
I go back and see her about every 5 weeks for a trim and a touch up. Yes, it costs more than a box dye and a cheapo cut. Yes, the process takes a while because she is so careful with her foils. The fact is, every time I go to Wicked Pixie I have a nice glass of wine, I laugh and enjoy myself, and I walk out looking and feeling like a movie star.
