Yeah, okay, the burger is mind boggling, but can we talk about the whiskey selection? It's as long as the new testament, Oy!
Come for the epic burger, stay for the bourbon, return time and again for the overall charm of it all.
Great Spot – We love going to Village Whiskey. There are no reservations so come early. Once you have secured a seat at one of the pub tables, which is hard to come by or the bar. Order the Village Burger, I have to say that I think this is hands down, one of the best burgers in town, accompany that with the duck fat french fries (sounds appetizing I know! But it's delicious!) They have a very nice selection of whiskeys to please any whiskey lovers palate. The bartenders do a wonderful job of mixing up a drink that will quench your thirst. Scott has never let me down. Just tell him what you are in the mood for and he will work his magic.
Stop on in, you will not be disappointed...that is if you can score a seat!
It is all in the owner's name – Had to wait 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Four of us were seated at two small table pushed together which was not good for eating or conversation. Food was ok but pork sandwich looked lost (and unattractive) served on plate along with about 4 small pickles slices. Overpriced for what you got in amount and quality but considering the wait, I guess everyone would go any place associated with celebrity. The bar looked well stocked, however.
Tasty... but make plans early – Put our names in on a Friday night in October '09 around 6 pm, and the staff lost our names. Luckily, we had a great happy hour at Noble while we were waiting for 'the call'. Once we were finally seated around 8, the food had some standouts. I loved the short ribs on top of the duck fat fries, but couldn't take the fries themselves (I'm just not into duck fat, I think). Pulled pork sammy was tasty but not unique. However, the homemade pickles and beer selection were fantastic!! I would go back and fill up on beer, pickles, and the ricotta and bread that come with the pickles..
Citysearch Editorial Review – Jose Garces has left behind his Latin roots for this venture, which focuses on the casual American foods that pair well with whiskey and classic cocktails. That means a slim menu of sustainable lobster rolls, thick burgers, fresh raw oysters, house-cured pickle appetizers and duck-fat fried fries will appeal to a modern meat-and-potatoes palate, especially one that enjoys a hefty infusion of beer and liquor in his or her food preparation. The restobar is tiny (a long marble bar doesn’t leave much room for the 20 booth seats) but full of post-Prohibition charm, jovial servers and Center City business people savoring a cocktail lunch or an after-work single malt.
