don't do it – It was nice at first, but with the first night,it was like a Stephen King novel- the hosts are very odd- almost bizarre. they do not leave you alone, and are badgering, prying into your life, and act very weird. I could not relax with them,it is like they are on some kind of stage, loud, pushy and just plain strange. awful people, very phoney, and kind of drunk during my stay,(5 days) Was glad to leave.

Very nice stay with very friendly hosts – We stayed with Frank and Dolly for five weeks in June-July 2010 and enjoyed it a lot !!! We got special long stay deals, staying in two different rooms (including the suite - great !) while enjoying the kitchen in the Holly House across the street. The rooms were very nice and clean, the porch is great and Frank and Dolly are very friendly ! We had previously been staying at the Marrriott, two or three blocks away, but it was just a hotel (where the staff is not always very friendly...). At the Blooming Garden inn we got to know more about America and Americans and we really liked what we saw (especially Bele Chere, in Asheville, which was recommended to us by our hosts and where we went together).

Think Twice – I would think twice before staying here.

I was especially bothered by the owners. They were over concerned about my personal business and kept bothering me to check in (knocking on my door when I was ready to call it a night). They also were constantly sharing information about guests with the other guests (oh, they are thinking of relocating here, did you know that their dad is having surgery tomorrow, did you know they work at this company, etc.) I felt if the people wanted me to know, they'd tell me and kept wondering what they were telling the other guests about me!

The outside is beautiful and flowers are wonderful but I was concerned by the rest of the neighborhood. I didn't feel safe and was especially concerned by the folks who works day labors that were hired and hanging around the house.

This experience has made me think twice about staying in a B&B ever again. In fact, next time I needed a hotel in the area, I stayed at the Marriott (just down the street but closer to the good part of town) and it was heaven on earth from check in to check out.

Don't stay here – If you are expecting a nice, comfortable and relaxing visit, don't stay here. The facility is not clean. We requested a 'pet free' room and received a room that stunk of cat spray and was covered in fur. Carpets, bedspreads, drapes. It was a very unpleasant experience. We were not able to stay but a few hours due to a pet allergy we informed them of ahead of time. We were promised the cats did not visit the rooms, but that wasn't the case. After driving 10 hours from Florida with two kids, we had to leave a few hours into the visit as two of my family members woke up after just a few hours with reactions to the excessive amount of dander in the rooms. As if that wasn't bad enough, I was asked by the owner 'not to allow' my 2 year old to use the bed. They asked that we place him on the floor as he was still in diapers! I couldn't belive that. The cats are allowed to spray everywhere but a toddler has to sleep on the floor because he is still in diapers. I guess they haven't realized that diapers are quite absorbent these days!

Short and long-term B&B stays in a university area. – In Short
This bed-and-breakfast is located in the Triangle district a few minutes from Duke University. It has four suites and an extended-stay facility--Holly House--which requires a one-week minimum booking. The property is surrounded by an open porch, a well-landscaped yard and beautiful blooming gardens. Many of the accommodations have their original coal-burning fireplaces and oak mantles. A gourmet breakfast is included in your stay.
