Durham's favorite grocery store also stocks a feast of healthy, organic, slightly Southern dishes.. In Short
Anchoring one end of Whole Foods Market is Wellspring Cafe, the upscale organic grocery store's dine-in or carry-out cafe. A bevy of self-service options--sushi bar, hot and cold entrees, monstrous salad bar, made-to-order sandwiches--make this a convenient option for healthy, near-gourmet meals. Southern delicacies along with clever interpretations of standard fare are displayed behind glass counters. During breakfast hour, neighborhood regulars flock here for cheese grits, tofu scramble and farm-fresh bacon.

Best In Durham. After going to Wellspring's competitor Fowler's and experiencing bad service, high prices, and no parking, WellSpring is like a dream come true.

At WellSpring, they are very friendly, helpful, fast, and the food is great! Plus, on some days, they even have free masseuses giving back rubs in the front!

This is the place to go when you want to enjoy a coffee, quick lunch or pick up some great foods for cooking. Highly recommended-- the best in Durham!

expensive but wide selection. I appreciate wellspring because I can buy everything for takeout under one roof. It is not where I would go if I was to purchase everything individually. The case food is gorgeous but not tasty. The salad bar is inconsistent - good for tomato-cucumber salad, bad for soybeans (frozen). The wine selection is well thought out but overpriced. The desserts pale next to the great alternatives nearby. The seating is not comfortable, and outside someone is always smoking. The service and the cheese however are top rate.

Quality Food. There is a large selection of items, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

You have to try the vegan mousse.

Awesome Desserts!. The BEST desserts anywhere can be found here. I am not kidding! Check it out for yourself. Additionally, the salad bar is great and a lot of the side dishes are delicious. One thing that I would avoid is the chicken. It is so dry, its gross. I've tried several varieties, i.e. breaded, baked, grilled, etc and always end up having to throw the meat out in disgust.

One of the Best Salad Bars!. This is one of the best truly vegetarian salad bars around!!! Always fresh, lots of different types of greens, not to mention excellent pre-made sandwiches that you can grab if in a hurry. For a more "leisurely lunching experience" take your time and go through the deli line at the Eno Cafe!
