Avoid this course in 2010 - Fairways are all Dirt – I have played this course before and loved it - but not this time. On April 30th 2010, the course was in terrible shape - all dirt fairways. No grass, and this is unacceptable for this course. If I was paying $20 at a public course, I might understand but not here at the Duke course. I was so disappointed. And there was no sign of work being done to grow some grass. Therefore, wait until 2011 before you try this course. Ugh - so disappointed.
Its classic beauty makes the bells and whistles of today's courses seem like unnecessary intrusions. – In Short
Ever lost yourself in the beauty of a golf course? You may find that happening here. The beautiful, simple layout has tree-lined fairways and uniquely designed bunkers. The greens have just enough speed and break that when you misread them, strokes will be added to your score. Rather than a test of your nerves, this course is a test of your ball-striking and putting skills.
Best Hidden Jewel in the Triangle – Duke is the best hidden jewel in the Triangle. Good varity of holes. The course is in beautiful shape regardless of the time of year that you play.
