Horrible company – I arrived to pick up a car from this company And had nothing but grief. The guy at the counter was doing what ever he could to get out of my quouted price. Problem with insurance (which there was not any problem, I had full coverage) they said that my insurance company had to verify. I said what about my amex? They said not good enough. I was. Offered the choice of taking their insurance to avoid the problem! At almost 45.00 per day more!! Then he pointed to a car in the lot and told me it was not what I needed, I should take the 300 for 35 more per day. As this was not bad enough I hear some guy screaming through a phone about how lousy they are, I thought it was a customer with a complaint (wonder why) I ask the counter guy what's that all about, he states "That's Andrew the regional manager. Says its his weekly dose of beating up his boss. I told the guy to stop the transaction and told him to get a new company to work for. I went to avis at the airport and even though that took 45 minutes out of my morning, I was glad I did not do business with this company from the dark ages!!
Terrible Customer Service – Unable to find an available car from our regular national car rental companies, our company turned to Triangle Rent A Car to provide a vehicle for an arriving salesperson. When we arrived at the Durham location to pick up the car that we had reserved we were told that the only car available was a two door convertible or a pickup truck. This was an unacceptable substitute as a 4 door car was needed to comfortably take customers to lunch. The gentleman at the counter told us that he expected full size cars to be returned in the next few hours, verified our telephone number and promised to call as the car class he had reserved became available - he expected something by 11am.
Having not received a call by 4pm, we called and were told that no full size cars were available. After discussion we were offered a minivan. We were in meetings and unable to leave immediately to pick up the reserved car until almost closing. When we called at 6:30pm we were left on hold for 25 minutes and then told that no one could wait for us (despite how patient we had been when we arrived and they couldn't honor our reservation). When we arrived before closing we were told that we couldn't have the minivan we had been promised because someone was picking it up in the morning. (notice they had no problem giving our car away earlier).
There was a 4 door premium car on the lot but they wouldn't provide that vehicle to us at the same rate as the full size we had reserved and suggested that we try again in the morning. They said there was nothing they could do and they didn't have a number they could call for a manger.
The website states: "Plus all our customers are guaranteed that their entire rental will be more than a satisfying event. If it's not right, we'll make it right. That is our promise." Triangle had multiple opportunities to make it right and did no such thing. We will never rent from them again, even in an emergency such as this was.
