Dishonest Sales Practices – We had previously purchased a puppy (12/24/2011) from PBP but was unfortunately struck by a car a month after we purchased the dog. We called Alan Garson in the evening and he agreed to give us a price break on a new puppy he had in the store. I called him the following morning to see the puppy he said he had already sold it. He said he would give me a big discount on a male puppy he had in the store, and would only charge me $1,000. I asked him if it was the same male puppy he had on the website for $995 he said yes. I told him $5 MORE than the online price is not a discount at all, and that we only wanted a female. He said he had one that was a little sick and would be available the following week. However, he said in order to hold the puppy I needed to give him a good faith deposit which I gave him on 1/31/2012 in the amount of $1,272.00. A few hours later he said he had ordered a different dog since he didn't want to sell me a sick dog and it would be ready the same time as the sick dog (2/08/2012). So on Wednesday 2/8/2012 I took my family in to see the dogs. One dog appeared to be sluggish and the other had what we felt was a very undesirable coat. Both dogs were listed for cheaper online ($1,100) than the deposit we gave in order to just hold the dogs. In addition neither dog was ready to be taken home yet since one did not have its shots and the other had not yet been inspected by a doctor. The following morning we called and told Alan we did not feel comfortable with either of the dogs. He then told me that he had special ordered the dog just for me (which was never mentioned to me before) and that he would not refund any of my deposit. No paperwork was ever signed between us (credit card charge was done over the phone- and was originally suppose to be only $1,000). I had not committed at any time to take a dog, either verbally or in writing, the deposit was simply to hold the dog (NOT a commitment to purchase)should I chose to purchase it upon seeing it (as you do not typically buy a dog without so much as seeing a picture of it). So goods where ever received, no agreement ever entered into (verbally or in writing), but once PBP had a credit card charge there was no chance they were willing to let it go. To add insult to injury Alan the owner is less than honest and is not pleasant to deal with on the phone.
THIS PLACE LIES. PUPPY MILL CENTRAL. – I purchased a frenchbulldog from this place. He had pnuemonia and took us 1 month to finally get him from this place after we purchased him. He was okay for 8 months and then got deadthly sick. He went to nuerologists because he walked to one side, he saw a surgical specialists to give his throat redone because he couldnt breathe. He threw up his food everytime he eat to where i had to spoon feed him for two months and then he still didnt get better. On his second surgery he died of a heart attack under anesthesia. He was under 2 years old. Found out he came from Missouri, puppy mill capital. Dont let them fool you that they couldnt find the paper work for 2 weeks under the return warranty ran out, because they will hide the paperwork from you so you cant find out where the dog actually came from. LIARS. These people caused my husband and I so much pain and suffering.
DONT SUPPRT PUPY MILLS – BREEDERS OF QUALITY DOGS DO NOT SELL THEIR PUPPIES TO PET STORES! THESE DOGS ARE PUPPY MILL DOGS, THE AKC REGISTERS THESE DOGS, BUT THEY ARE NOT CERTIFIED TO BE OF GOOD BREEDING, OR EVEN HEALTHY. THE MAJORITY OF PUPPY MILL DOGS HAVE GENETIC WEAKNESSES THAT MAY LEAD TO LONG TERM ILLNESS AND ADDED HEALTH CARE COSTS. TO TOP IT OFF, THEY ARE PAYING MAYBE $100 FOR THE SICKLY PUPPY THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL FOR $1200.
DO NOT BUY A PUPPY HERE! I DID AND BIG MISTAKE! – This is the WORST "business" I've been to in the 11 years I've been in Florida. They sold us a puppy on Friday at 5:30 pm, the dog had a bloody stool that night so my wife took the dog in to the vet Saturday morning where we found out the dog had the contagious disease GIARDIA. We brought the puppy back WITHIN 15 HOURS OF PURCHASING it and even though their contract states (required by Florida law) that pursuant to Florida's Pet Law 828.29 which states, "If within 14 days following the sale by a pet dealer...a licensed veterinarian certifies that at the time of sale the animal was unfit for purchase due to illness or disease, the presence or symptoms of a contagious or infectious disease...the pet dealer shall afford the consumer the right to choose one of the following...THE RIGHT TO RETURN THE ANIMAL AND RECEIVE A REFUND OF THE PURCHASE PRICE, INCLUDING SALES TAX...", the manager and owner (both completely rude) REFUSED TO GIVE US A REFUND. Instead, the OWNER TOLD ME TO SUE HIM. The pet store's vet told us to bring the dog back for a refund and the pet store owner REFUSED and told me to sue him. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES VISIT OR BUY A PUPPY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW THE SAME!!! I will be disputing this charge on my credit card and may have to actually file a lawsuit to get my money back. DON'T TAKE A CHANCE!!! There are plenty of other places to find a great puppy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!! (By the way, the one in Boca is owner by the same family so don't go there either.)
Yes many people know all to well about this terrible place. if you research Palm Beach Puppies on Google you will mostly bad reviews and business practices. Let me know if you need a good lawyer for this. Im am sorry for your family.
Reputable breeders don't sell to stores – If you think paying $1,000 guarantees you a healthy, well-adjusted member of the family, think again. Most likely, you're new puppy came from a mass breeding facility in Missouri. Little money goes into caring for the animals which means cramped filthy living conditions, little or no medical care and poor socialization. Puppies are churned out litter after litter without regard to the mother's health. When the puppies are ready they get a bath..a deworm..and a trip across state lines where they can be sold at outrageous prices in pet store windows.
Adopt, don't shop. But if you must shop, find a reputable breeder. Visit their premises and make sure you're not supporting a mass breeder.
Puppy mills are deathtraps – Please rescue your dog from a shelter; pet stores like this cannot supply the variety of animals they sell without getting them from puppy mills who then lie through their teeth about the source and health of said puppies.
I've met people who knowingly bought puppy-mill dogs because "my wife wanted him," "my sister bought him for me," "I couldn't resist," or "the store was clean." These are all lame excuses; every puppy sold by a pet store prevents a dog in a shelter from getting a home. Many people now know about puppy mills—thanks to Oprah—but don't realize that in order to shut them down, everybody has to refuse to patronize them.
Kinky Friedman, a great rescuer of dogs, has said, "You can spend all kinds of money on a fine dog, but only love will wag his tail." Go to your local shelter and save a life.
Puppy store puppies are ALL from puppy mills – Please don't buy a puppy. Thousands of puppies die each day in America's "shelter" system. When you buy a puppy from a store or a backyard breeder a dog in a shelter dies. It dies. Because you choose to buy a dog, a dog dies. Can't say it anymore bluntly than that. Please, if you truly love animals DON'T BUY ONE! Adopt one. SAVE A LIFE TODAY. This store is notorious for selling puppy millpuppies. Please do your research... all the good reviews are written by the store employees, not real customers.
