A solid Belgian find in a City lacking Belgian cusine – We started with the fabled french fries, and I must say that they were quite remarkable. Belga's fries are light and sport an excellent consistency and texture. However, I respectfully disagree that they are the best fries in DC - I would take the more flavorful and equally expertly prepared truffle fries at Poste over Belga. Granville Moore's trumps both of them and provides excellent dipping sauces to boot (the accompanying sauces at Belga are strikingly disappointing). Having said that, they were an excellent appetizer and I would strongly recommend them. For non-dressed fries, they are clearly amongst the best in all of DC.
I went with a corn waffle topped with pulled pork and a fried egg for my entree. While I am sure this particular dish is not their most frequent order, I was pleasantly surprised at its execution. The corn waffle worked as a breading for the delicious pulled pork while the fried egg added an extra layer of liquid composition to the meal. Although it tasted more American Indian than Belgian, I thoroughly enjoyed this particular brunch item.
Citysearch Editorial Review – From beer to mussels and frites, this Capitol Hill restaurant specializes in all things Belgian--even the sauces use Belgian beer as a key ingredient--and waffles make an appearance on the dinner, brunch and dessert menus.
(Un)Believable Brunchin at Belga – Brunch n' Beer at Belga - Not a lot to say about this one. The brunch is pretty f-ing mind blowing. We good?
One of My favorites in DC – A great neighborhood place with delicious food and tons of yummy beers - a favorite that I always bring my parents to when in town! Great food, atmosphere and price!
Excellent atmosphere for brunch – Just had Saturday brunch. I had read some of the reviews which questioned the helpfulness of the staff, so we went with a little concern. Everyone was extremely warm and extremely helpful. the portions weren't huge, but were fine. The food was good, the selections were interesting, and the neighborhood ("Eastern Market") across from the Marine barracks is somewhat interesting, and close to Capitol Hill. There are other restaurants in the area as well. No one rushed us, and we had a great and relaxed time.
