PINE BANKS ANIMAL HOSPITAL ROCKS!!!!

I have been with Dr. Syed and his staff or over 25 years!!! He and his staff have always exhibited the highest level of professionalism and concern. When faced with the most difficult and puzzling symptoms they never ordered or suggested unnecessary testing just to pad the bill.

If a second opinion or additional diagnostics were necessary, Dr Syed is always ready to explain the options!! He is a kind wonderful, honest man and a credit to his profession!!!

Through the years we have laughed together, cried together, welcomed new kittens, and mourned the death of the older cats.

I always received follow up calls after each visit, and Dr Syed has personally called my home after hours even while on vacation with his grandchildren!!! WOW, I don't get that personal attention from my own Doctor!!!!

The office is always spotless, sick pet visits are ALWAYS a priority!

So, if you are looking for a knowledgeable, honest Vet for your precious pet this is the place go!!

THEY HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF MY PETS FOR OVER 10 YEARS! – The staff at pine banks have been more like friends for many years. The techs are friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Leslie and Brenda are the first faces we see when we walk in, and, they are very welcoming with a smile and hello.

I would trust Dr Syed with any of my dog's lives, and I have through the years.

Now, I have 2 chihuahuas and a terrier who are my children. They are getting up in age with arthritis, heart murmurs, and are on a few meds.

I also go with my best friend and her 2 long hair chihuahua puppies. She also acompanies me with my dogs.

We love each other's dogs with all our hearts.

Recently, one of the puppies was seriously ill. She ate a piece of ammodium capsule. She vomited all night. We brought her into Dr. Syed and Dr. Shopa first thing in the morning. They kept her overnight. We were petrified that she wouldn't make it.

By the next day she was as good as new, playful, loving and hungry!!

We give all the credit and all our thanks to the loving and brilliant staff at Pine Banks Animal Hospital. I would never go anywhere else.

My name is Denise Johnson and I love Pine Banks Animal Hosp. – I took my cat Beaunca to see Dr, Syed at the Pine Banks Animal Hospital and he was great!!! He and his staff and receptionests were very kind and caringand concerned for my animal! She had a pocedure done and they told me to call ANYTIME to check on my cat! The doctor took his time to talk through all the concerns and procedures that was to be expected. I called them several times and they were kind and gave me the confindence that my cat was in good hands! The doctor also called the next day to check on my cat! He also is going to call again since it is a holiday weekend to check if my cat is ok and if I have any questions! I Highly recomend anyone to take there pet to the Pine banks Animal Hospital! Trust me I have taken several pets to them and they are great!!!!!

Sadly, far from good – I have no doubt in my mind that my dog's death could have been avoided if it wasn't for the unprofessionalism, lack of attention to detail and negligence of the veterinarian team at Pine Banks Animal Hospital. I do not exempt myself from being at fault too, for I should indeed, have been more diligent in finding a more qualified professional to care for my precious dog. I had been taking my dog to Pine Banks since 2007, because it is conveniently located near my house. I originally thought that the place was dirty, the receptionists were somewhat rude and I certainly should have considered the high turnover of veterinarians as a red flag. In 2010, I took my dog for a visit with a chief complain of cough and also appetite loss and lethargy. I specifically expressed my concerns about the coughing, but they told me that small breed dogs have what they call a 'collapsing trachea' and that it is pretty normal for them to cough when excited or when going for a walk. They also informed me that my dog probably had a faulty valve (cardiac), that it was not working properly in preventing the blood from backing up to the upper chambers of the heart (note that they did not explain this in richness of words and details/ this was a result of my own research on the subject). They prescribed heart medication, which I happily administered to my dog, thinking that his health would eventually improve. What a shocking surprise, when a month later, I noticed that my dog was having a real hard time breathing (his mouth was open and he retired to a corner in the house). That same night (around 3am), I took my dog to MSPCA Angell hospital in downtown Boston, only to hear the devastating news that my dog had metastasized end stage lung cancer and that nothing could be done to save him. They showed me his X-rays and both lungs were heavily covered with nodules and masses (approximately 85 percent). Even the doctors at Angell hospital wondered what had happened and why the vets that had cared for my dog for almost three years had not suspected of such serious condition (according to them, my dog had plenty of noticeable signs and symptoms that certainly pointed to the diagnosis of cancer). My husband and I wonder why the vets at Pine Banks weren't more aggressive and more proactive. Why didn't they order more diagnostic tests (besides blood work)? There are X-rays, cat scans, tissue biopsies, ultrasounds and oximeter machines that monitor for blood oxygenation saturation available for pets nowadays. Even if they didn't have this technology available at their office, they had the professional obligation to refer me to someone who did. And although the economy is tough, we pet owners go beyond our financial possibilities in order to care for our pets. In other words, they should have considered many other possible health conditions related to the cough (not only a collapsing trachea). I am truly devastated and I blame myself for trusting Pine Banks and its veterinarians-- I should have done more research. I should have asked around. A couple of months following my dog's death, while talking to one of my neighbors, I listened to her words and I felt knives cutting through my heart. She said, "You shouldn't have taken your dog there, they have a terrible reputation." That only added to my feelings of guilt. That is why I urge pet owners to not take their pets there. And even more important, I urge people to check for reviews, credentials and to look for references before trusting the professional caring for their loved pets.

Worst Vet Ever – I brought my cat in with a broken dewclaw on her left paw. This place was horribly dirty with floors that clearly hadn't been washed in a long time as there was fur everywhere and pet nail clippings all over surfaces.

Dr. Chopra was not only late for the visit, but he came in and was very rough in how he handled our cat which completely stressed her out. He then preceded to put us in a panic by telling us that this was a super serious injury. He told us he was going to bandage her paw and give her an antibiotic. So, he took her into another room and all we could hear was our screaming and crying. When he brought her back, we realize that her other paw was now bleeding (he had broken claws on her other paw while he struggled with her).

After seeing her other paw was now bleeding, the Dr. walked away and just handed the cat to the assistant to deal with. At this point we left because we didn't want them touching her anymore.

We got wonderful care at Mass Vet Referral in Woburn, who told us that this injury was not a big deal and that the other vet had clearly mishandled the situation.

Overall Point: Go elsewhere if you love your pets and don't want them misdiagnosed and mistreated. These people are rude and completely unprofessional!
