Simply amazing!!! – Morton's Uptown is the epitome of what a steakhouse should be. Crisp white linen, black napkins for those wearing dark clothing, dark mahogany wood and a little Frank Sinatra to set the mood. That's just the opening act for a wonderful evening.
Try the Bone-in ribeye, by far the best steak I have ever had. Finished with just a touch of au-jus, that enhances the flavor (not like Ruth's Chris, that masks thiers with melted butter). Lyonaisse potatoes were unreal, crispy with just a hint of bacon, absolutely superb. Finish your dinner with the legendary hot chocolate cake, you won't be able to find a better dessert in town.
And if you are a wine lover, this is the place. The sommelier told me he had over 275 different choices and another 25 by the glass. The whold staff is very knowledgable, and not stuffy or pretentious when giving suggestions for wine.
Now I have found a new favorite restaurant. Nothing else compares to this. Great food, great service (with out being over-bearing), and a fabolous atmosphere, make for one unbelievable evening.
Below average for Morton's South Park – The steak was okay. However, the dining room was either too hot or too cold. The dining room and tables are way too small. Dining room lack character, which is part of the overall appeal to a place such as Morton's. Go to "The Palm" or "Sullivan's". The food, service and atmosphere are far superior!!
Wonderful Experience! – With so many steakhouse choices, it was hard to pick where to dine, but we chose Morton's and I'm glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. We sat in the cozy bar for a drink before dinner and loved the fun crowd! Once seated in a booth, the waiter was always there when we wanted her and didn't bother us when we didn't. The food was delicious and the filet was the best I'd ever eaten. We finished dinner with the Morton's coffee and it was great. We leisurely took the whole evening and enjoyed every bit of our meal. We were not rushed and it was a memorable evening.
wishy-washy – I've been to Morton's at Southpark a few times now and it seems like it is either really good or not so good. The first time my husband and I went there were were impressed with both our waiter and steaks. But when we went back the second time with our neighbors, 2 out of 4 of the steaks were overdone! Very weird for a steakhouse, don't you think? I think we will stick to the Palm.
So So, Nothing to Write Home About – Okay, heard SO much about this restaurant, had to give it a look-see. Took my son in for his 16th birthday and although I knew it would be expensive, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT expensive (it was). When we walked into the restaurant early (right when the dining room opened) we had to wait in the cigar filled entrance for the maitre d' to seat us in the empty dining room. By the time we made it to our table, my throat was sore and I reeked of cigar smoke.
So onward and upward. I ordered a glass of wine that in another establishment, would have been about 8 bucks a glass opposed to Morton's 12 bucks. Then we went thru the raw meat presentation and ordered our meals. Service was impeccable and unintrusive. The food was okay, but not eye-popping incredible. I ordered the filet, cooked medium. The presentation was a white plate, some wilted watercress and a piece of blackened meat. I wanted the steak medium, not burnt. When they asked me how it was, of course I told them I wasn't liking it. They immediately made me another one, gave me a new potato, new broccoli, but by then my son was finished with his (also blackened) rib eye. In a nutshell, everything was overpriced; presentation lacked big time, but the service was stellar.
Having been in the restaurant business for years, I'm of the opinion that Morton's is in a time warp. Although there will always be people who just want to pay that kind of money for a decent steak (I've had better steaks and paid much less), most people will opt to pay half of what I did for dinner, have a better ambience without the cigar smoke and continue to support that establishment. This is not the case for Morton's, I'm sorry to say.
A great date night... – Morton's of Charlotte is a great date night or anniversary dinner.
My husband and I frequent fine restaurants often and Morton's is a great place.
The price was reasonable for an upscale restaurant.
I'm used to NYC restaurants and this a comparable.
I do agree that the tables are a bit close together but we requested a quite romantic
corner and had a great time.
Like a previous person said don't go to if you are concerned about the price of a steak. Likewise if you are dining at an expensive restaurant the staff is there to make you happy. If you are not happy with your selection they can accommodate you.
I tried a new martini and simply did not like it. I did not say much before she took it back and replaced it with something else she thought I'd like.
Also, because our moods were light and happy the waitress was overly attentive to us.
Mortons was a great restaurant.
The food was WONDERFUL! The wine choice was awesome!
best steak anywhere – i wasnt really all that thrilled about going but my husband insited that we go and it is going to be a romantic dinner. so i went so i could spend some time with him and let me tell you i never want to go to any other steak house i always want to go to morton now and now i bother him every week if we can go. they have very nice staff and they will get you anything you need and you dont have to wait forever they come back instancely. i highly recommend if you want a romantic dinner with your significant other.
This is a steakhouse. – My husband and i have date night and we consider this place a "typical" meat and potato steak house. The food is good and predictable, nothing impressive. Compared to other steakhouses in our area, i feel Morton's is average. Go to their website and print out the coupon for two- if $$$ is an issue...
Definitely try their souffle- i love it!
Believe or not, we like the Ranch House because of the no frills atmosphere and the retro 50s decor. Remember, never complain about the price. It will ruin the mood of the whole evening.
If your taking a date, offer drinks and dessert so you won't look like a cheapa**.
Good drinks, apps – My husband and I went here for after work drinks and appetizers. We love their happy hour menu- $4 for three mini burgers is a meal! The bartender was very polite and acommodating, too. We'll definitely go back.
Know that Mortan's is the epitemy of "Old Money" Standards – My husband & I have treated ourselves to the Mortan's in Charlotte only a couple of times. Would we go again? Most certainly!! Of course Mortan's is outrageously expensive, anyone should know that before walking in. It just is! Don't go if you are just coureous to see what a potatoe costs at Morton's! If you're concerned about how much you are going to spend on a wonderful steak dinner, seriously, go elsewhere. But if you want to go somewhere knowing you're going to spend a fortune, and have a wonderful time doing it, go to Mortons, and order the Oscar! Holy COW that's the best steak I've ever had in my life! This really is an experience that is different from any other steakhouse that should NOT be compared.
