Best Seafood In Charlotte – In town on business, I like to try all the seafood places. Just went to the Hearst Tower and found Lavecchia's Seafood and was amazed at the meal I had. My friends agreed. The seabass was the best I ever had. The tuna dish was equally amazing. Crabcake, oysters even the steak was excellent. Great wine list. Service was just okay, but the vibe was cool. Can't wait to go back.
We won't be returning to LaVecchia's – We went to Lavecchia's tonight for the first time and will not be returning. Our food was overcooked and lacked flavor. Food is overpriced considering the portion size.
Excellent chef and amazing food – I heard there was a new chef at lavecchias and decided to return to eat and was amazed at how the place has changed service was lack luster but the food spoke for my expierence
Poor dining experience – This restaurant looked the part, but failed to deliver. We ordered the NY strip steak and the 2.5 pound giant Maine lobster.
The steak was very dry and tasted ok at best. I do always order my steaks well-done, however I have never been served an overcooked steak at an upscale dining establishment. The lobster looked great on the plate, but was rubbery instead of tender and even the extra butter we requested for dipping couldn't make it better.
Although there were very few customers (we had a 6PM reservation to beat the crowd) our waitress seemed distracted and inattentive. She spent most of the time flirting with some local band members seated in the booth next to ours. She carried on about a 10 minute conversation with them while we tried to get her attention to complain about the lobster.
Upon being notified that our lobster was unsatisfactory the waitress told us that the manager would comp one of our soup appetizers. The soup cost about $7. The lobster was $27 per pound. You do the math.
All in all it was a very disappointing dining experience and almost put our damper on an otherwise great evening over the Memorial Day weekend. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Very good, my wife and I tried and we were not dissapointed – Service was great, good was excellent atmosphere was nice, open floor was a little loud but we enjoyed our dinner seafood special which included dessert!
Fish fun and festive – I finally tried LaVecchia's and had a great waitress, Sara. She was friendly and very attentive to our needs. We were originally seated next to the live lobster tank and I objected to having the creatures swimming right behind my friend's head, where I would have to watch them all night. The hostess agreed to reseat us and within 10 minutes the place filled up to capacity. Obviously, this is a popular place for the after work crowd, so get there a bit on the early side-5ish maybe for a choice seat. Reservations are suggested, too. We had to make a concert and our waitress made sure we got out on time. The food was delish and nice wine selections, too. It does get noisy and the atomosphere is fun and upbeat-very wild fish sculptures hanging from the ceiling. I would also like to go back and hang outside at the bar area one weekend night. This place is off Tryon so you don't have to listen to the cars blaring past and convenient parking next door by Reids. Also, if you have a concert to make at the arena, it is a hop over there-the new light rail is near by, too, for easy in and out of the city. Great place for all ages and persuasions.
Best seafood in uptown Charlotte – Great ambience and quality food. Try the swordfish or stuffed shrimp. For an appetizer get the tower and for dessert, the key lime pie!
Cooked to perfection – The fish here is both varied and delicious. Everyone at my table was completely satisfied and delighted with what they ordered. The halibut special came with an amazing sauce and flaked off on your fork. The sea bass also was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The one disappointment was getting a bad oyster. For $19/dozen, you would think their oyster chef could spot the bad ones. It's odor alone should've been the telltale. Overall, a completely delicious fish dinner and a restaurant i plan to enjoy again...just won't order the oysters.
GO HERE!! – The food was great. The calamari apetizer was delicious! I had the jumbo shrimp stuffed with lobster meat. It was very good. The waiter was fun and attentive. They even had a jazz band playing in the bar area.
This may well be the best restaurant in the world located in a parking garage. – The Scene
One windowed wall looks out onto a future trolley stop, lots of aquamarine blue and huge metal sea-life sculptures hang from the high ceilings, and a quariums are built into the soaring walls. Wood floors contribute to the big-city ambiance, as well as the big-city noise level. The beautiful crowd circulates freely along with folks who have been searching for a decent seafood restaurant in this town for some time.
For seafood lovers, La Vecchia's fits the bill, although your bill may be a bit higher than necessary. As one might expect from the location and ultra-modern interior, prices here are a bit inflated. You will be eating some good food, though: The appetizer sampler tower is a three-tiered festival featuring a decent crabcake and three types of oysters, among other items. Lobster is the signature dish, and a worthy one at that; it's big, served out of the shell, and comes with a unique citrus butter. Other standouts include the camp-fried trout that comes with a flavor-enhancing lobster brown butter, and grilled swordfish with fried grits cake (low-country influences dot the menu.)
