substance abuse program was great – i'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews, though i went through their evening substance abuse IOP 10 years ago, so maybe things have changed.
that evening IOP staff gave me my first hope of ever getting sober and it was the first time i was ever able to put together long periods of sobriety.
Janet Cross, the IOP nurse who basically oversaw the program then is still the best detox professional i ever met and i've been to treatment 5 times and would be embarrassed to tell you the number of detox units i had to go to during my active drinking.
yes, Dr. Lomardi is a whack and very hard to talk to, but most psychiatrists i've ever met lack a lot in the personality department so i just took it in stride.
maybe the place has changed since the early 2000's, though i hope not - it sure helped me.
I recommend you try other offices, this one is useless. – I recently moved to Charlotte and was getting set up with new doctors. I chose University Psychiatric mainly because I was somewhat familiar with the part of town it was in. I had read the lousy reviews online, but chocked them up to disgruntled clients. Then, I had my. first visit with Jeanmarie Roberts. To this day, I can't tell if she was really there, as in mentally present, in the room as I spoke. She would respond to my statements with things like "Yes, ma'am" and "Well I don't know, let me look it up on the most basic questions." She did not prescribe anything new at the time, but when I came back a couple weeks later, she referenced her handy dandy manual and she tripled the dosage of two medications I was on. Within a couple weeks of the increases, I had become a zombie. I contacted my prior provider and when she learned the dosages I was on, she was shocked. Although I realize it's not possible to understand a patiently entirely in the first couple visits, but the prescribing mistakes she made were in excusable. I never got to meet the great Dr. Lombardi...doesn't sound like I missed much.
Worst Place EVER!!!...if you need help...this is NOT it!! – This is the worst place I have ever been...Dr. Lombardi (the psych) is the most rude man I have ever met...I worked with him for four months before we decided that we were on two different paths...he was rude and short, insensitive, a real jerk basically...I would never recommend this place even to my own worst enemy...ALSO....I attended the outpatient treatment program that they have and they we judgemental and controlling and condecending...I have never felt worse in my life...I went there for help and I felt shunned and worse than I was when I came it...Thanks for nothing UPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree with all one star raters – My biggest problem with this place was Dr. Lombardi - he was rude, insensitive, impatient, and condescending. He was the guy who saw me in order to sign off on the script. The therapist that I saw on a regular basis who is no longer there should have been paying me - it seemed that she laughed more at my musings and philosophical meanderings than actually providing any meaningful therapy. Both Lomabardi and this therapist made comments that were inappropriate - Lomabardi told me to dump my boyfriend of the time who is now my husband of five happy years and the therapsit told me to move to California. Go elsewhere if you want real help.
Office staff is horrible!!!!!! Dr lombardi is a nice fellow but the place is impossible to communicate with – Dr Lombardi is a nice fellow but is in the substance abuse treatment buisiness and is very skeptical about pain management . I truly don't have a problem with the Dr but trying to communicate with the office staff is next to impossible. The industry is about high volume less attention and the office calls are never answered by a human and when you do need to leave a voice mail you will need to leave them your entire patient profile to get a prescription refill or a call back. They have a file there with all your information but they just don't want to do any work or they are understaffed ?? The last time I spoke to anyone there I was trying to reschedule for a missed appt that I didn't get a reminder call about and I was trying to get a prescription filled. They told me that my insurance was no longer accepted and I said that I would just pay out of pocket and asked how much that would be and she said that I needed to call my insurance company and find that out and basically hung up on me without getting my meds filled and without having an appointment scheduled. I am epileptic and had a seizure do to being off of my meds for the two days it took me to get in to see my primary care physician. Dr Getter, The greatest Dr I have ever had. I wouldn't recommend University Psychichiatric for treament of a dog much less a human !!! BEWARE... PROBLEMS
MEDS HELD HOSTAGE, DON'T MISS YOUR APPT. – Can you say "have you paid your co-pay"? Seems like RX's are filled based on appointment basis. Was hung out to dry by Dr. Lombardi over XMas season. Missed appt. called to see about refills, and was asked after calling to re-schedule a missed appt. Needed meds 3x daily and appt. not available for another 3 weeks. Reception is very very unresponsive and seems to only care about "collecting co-pays". I felt like my meds were being held hostage due to a missed appt. When you call to say I'm sorry I missed an appt and need meds until next appt. you are told first thing.... "Have you paid your missed appointment fee"? Of course not, I missed the appt! "No refillsby phone" was then put on my acct. Soooo, after all this and long waits sometimes over 45 min, and leaving me with no meds due to an unforgivable miss of an appt. Money comes first!Lack of concern, leaving patients with too bad, and endless different diognosis, I give up. A bad taste in your mouth is what you should get from bad food not bad doctors. Seeking another doc.
SHOCKING LACK OF COMPASSION – After a serious trauma resulted in a 10 day stay in Presbyterian Behavioral Health, my husband was assigned to an outpatient program at University Psych. Following our initial meeting with the head of the program, we decided to look for help elsewhere--but we kept the appt with Dr Lombardi in order to get refills for my husband's (very necessary) psych medication until we were able to see the psych at the new program. When Dr. Lombardi found out we had gone with another program and would only have one appt with him, he refused to see my husband. Even though the medication was a matter life or death for my husband, neither the Dr nor the cold, condescending receptionists could be swayed to help us.
Thanks God for Eastover Psych!
Seems like a nice guy... – But when you cross him, things get really dark, really fast. I missed an appointment that I had no record of, and got a letter in the mail notifying me of a $50 no-show fee that was charged to my account. When I contested the fee at the office, I found out that their courtesy call service had been disabled during the time of my appointment. When the administrative manager overheard my request, she stood up and said in an obstinate tone that Dr. Lombardi was not going to waive the fee. When I went into his office, we had the appointment just like always, except this time he never smiled, he used to wear a smile like it was painted on. After the appointment I asked what he wanted to do about the fee and explained my situation. He stood up and said with a sly grin, "I'll tell you what I can do. I'll write off this appointment and you can seek help elsewhere."
