Pretty Bad with stomach aches – Received a groupon from a friend and was very excited having never been to this restaurant. We were very disappointed. My daughter and I were celebrating and went for lunch. Very nice decor and ordered an appetizer along with 2 entrees. 45 Mins later we received our appetizer with our meal 2-3 mins later. Food was not very good, tasted weird and low end ingredients . The waitress forgot her fruit, and then after reminding her she forgot again. Waitress was very unprofessional. We spoke to the manager and then left. Very Disappointing!

Like another reviewer we both had stomach aches after only appetizers and a few bites of the entrees. DO NOT RECOMMEND! My daughter now calls it the Putrid Rose.

REALLY BAD! – My wife and I met a couple at the Pewter Rose for dinner on Saturday night. It took us over an hour to get our food after we ordered it. One dish was prepared incorrectly (missing the sauce on the vegetables) and two of the meals were cold. My meal, served cold, was absolutely terrible. This seemed to be typical for the service across the restaurant that evening as the patrons at two other tables next to us seemed to be having similar experiences. As if all of this was not bad enough, my wife got a mild case of food poisoning from her meal. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Not that good – I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while after hearing about their organic, locally purchased ingredients. Their website mentioned "healthy and vegetarian" food. I went there for brunch and was not pleased. I ordered a black bean burger that was mushy and had the taste of a raw egg (I couldn't eat it). A friend had eggs and bacon which they said weren't very good either. Out of fairness, I have neighbors that really love this place. The decor is interesting and the outside eating area is nice. I just can't get past the food.

Horrific Service – I went to the Pewter Rose based on suggestions that they have a great Sunday brunch. While the food was good, I was completely appalled by the service. And, let's face it, service in a restaurant is just as important as the food, right?. First, we made reservations but had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. I get it...sometimes you are busy and can't completely time the tables...but, 45 minutes late and no apology is inexcusable. Upon being seated, it took 10 - 15 minutes before our waiter even came over to our table. Then another 10-15 minutes to bring our drinks. Then another 10-15 minutes to come back and take our order, despite our telling the waiter that we were ready to order when he brought us our drinks (his response: "ok, I'll be right back"). (For those keeping tally, that's 30-45 minutes at the table waiting because the waiter was not doing his job). Our food came relatively quickly after the order, but our waiter was never to be found to refill coffee, water, or other drinks. After completing our meal, with our empty plates sitting in front of us for 20 minutes, the waiter came, cleared our table, and gave us our bill. I paid our bill, and given that I waited tables through college and thus am I'm a pretty generous tipper, left him a 25% tip even though he was horrendous. A few minutes later, the waiter comes over and tells us we had to leave the table because there were people waiting. To be honest, I was just in shock as I've NEVER been asked to leave a table before, especially since we were waiting around 50 - 60 minutes for our waiter to serve/take our order/etc. and that I had given him a pretty good tip. I guess in a state of shock, we just got up and left. What I should have done was to ask the waiter for my credit card receipt back, and taken away the entire tip. I will never be going back to the Pewter Rose again.

Quaint little place – What a neat little place nestled atop an old brick building in south end. The brunch menu offered some traditional items yet some with flair and ingenuity. Although the service was pleasant, it was somewhat slow. The restaurant was very crowded with a wait at 11:30 on a Sunday morning. Good thing we had reservations. I would love to visit it again soon!

Great menu for Brunch – Brought my mom and sister for brunch yesterday. Good thing we made a reservation. It was VERY crowded on a Sunday at 11:30. We were seated within 5 minutes but we did wait a while for our meal. We didn't leave until 1pm. I was impressed with the large brunch selection. Mom had the bananas fosters french toast that she loved and sis enjoyed the eggs benedict. I had the mushroom fritata. Not as much flavor as i'd hoped but a little salt did the trick. We loved the little warm scone they offered us before the meal - buttery and sweet. Just slightly dissapointed with the wait for the meal (about 30 minutes) but there were some large parties in the room and the waitress was very attentive. I would certainly go back. Also, was sooo close to the East/West Light Rail.

It works! – Pewter Rose has managed to keep revamping itself and bringing in the crowds. The food is good but not memorable. The combination of descent food and the ambience may make you go there more than once. However, the staff is short and you never really fell like you are getting your money's worth.

great food – I have been living in Charlotte for the better part of 30 years. I have seen the Pewter Rose go through many changes. Most recently they completed an extensive renovation and completely changed the menu. I have been to the restaurant perhaps a dozen times since their renovations and I have to say I have enjoyed myself thouroughly everytime. Most recently, I went with my wife, her father and her brother. We sat on the stage area of the dining room and had a very large dinner. Their menu changes regularly and I was happy to see many of the things they had in place for their summer menu. The proscuitto wrapped figs in stilton cream were AWESOME. Our server, who was extremely attentive, informed us that the figs were from the Chef's back yard. Our entree's weren't any less spectacular. If I had any complaints it would be that in addition to their far ranging menu they had 5 specials to choose from. It was almost too much. We settled for the Moroccan lamb, the sea bass, the huge scallops and a couple of more appetizers. For dessert we had the pear tart, again pears were from the chefs back yard and the carrot cake. The carrot cake was from tizzerts and it says so in the menu. It is nice to see the local businesses here supporting each other that way. All in all, in a town where chain restaurants seem to be the norm its refreshing to know a local restaurant that can produce world class food. By the way, brunches are awesome, too! I may be addicted to their butterscotch scones. Long Live the Pewter Rose!

excellent food – We are visiting from NY on business and found the food to be as good as any seafood dishes in Manhattan. Cute decor, but the food was worth the trip

Not worth it!!! – We heard they had good brunch, so I made reservationsfor Mother's Day , weeks in advance. They called me 2 days before and changed my reservation time, so I accomodated. When we went at the scheduled time they still could not seat us. The host was, unorganized and looked frazzeled. They had the attitude of "We are a busy restaurant, so deal with it!!!) Ten minutes later, without any explanation they tried to seat us next door at Tutto Mundo (some side room/bar) as if we would not notice the difference. We objected, so they had to seat us in the restaurant like we planned. It was supposed to be a special day but we were irritated by their lack of courtesy. I would not recommend going there on a special day, They will ruin it for you. I read reviews from others that they had lousy service, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I REGRETTED IT. I would never, ever go back there again, there are just too many other options in Charlotte.
