Horrible customer service! My experience while picking out my dress was not unpleasant, I was bothered, however, that the sales woman did not help my friends and I pick out dresses or even help me into the dresses in the dressing room. Pretty much my dress sold itself to me. I live 2 hours away and was told that they would give my dress a free steam after I picked it up from alterations (not in house). I had the pickup date set with alterations so the week before I called the bridal shop to set up the steam. When I called I told the lady that I was from out of town and needed to make sure I could have it by Wednesday evening, she told me to drop it off right when they opened on Wednesday morning and it would be ready for me in time. That Wednesday morning when I dropped the dress off the woman working the front desk got very upset with me, she told me that they did not have an appointment for me and it takes two days to steam dresses. When I told her that I called the week before to set this up she was even more huffy and puffy then said to leave it and she would see what she could do for me. Before the store closed I got stuck doing other wedding stuff and called Gateway Bridal to let them know I was sending my maid of honor to pick the dress up for me and gave them her name. I was told there would be no problem with this. When my maid of honor went to pick up the gown the woman at the front desk began a fifteen minute argument with her about how she couldn't pick this dress up for me and how it wasn't ready. Luckily my maid of honor doesn't take crap from anyone and let her have it. While this arguing was going on a seperate associate came out of the back with my gown fully steamed, asked if she was Rachel, and handed the dress to my maid of honor. I was surprised that we would be treated this way after spending $2,500 on a gown. I would not recommend this store to anyone, they added unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation!
First, setting the appointment over the phone: My wedding is not very far off, and I did not appreciate the person on the other end of the line making me feel bad that my date was not 6 months out. The experience at the shop started out well - the girl who was helping me was very kind and attentive. I found a dress I really liked, but she told me that it was not in stock with their supplier and if they could get one in it would not be in time for my wedding. She said that her manager would graciously allow me to purchase the sample (the one I was trying on, the one that had been tried on by countless other women). I was grateful, but concerned as the dress was soiled on the hem from being dragged around the shop while being tried on by other brides. There were many beads that were loose and appeared to be falling off, I found several snags in the fabric as well. I asked if they could discount the dress, since there were so many problems that needed fixing, which I would have to pay to have taken care of. I was told that the manager would graciously give me 5% off. WOW! Thank you soooo much! That is not enough to have the dress cleaned! I was told they would clean it, but that is all. I was worried that if I pressed for more of a discount I would seem to be insulting them, but I was reminded by my sister who was there that the fact that they would expect me to take a dress with flaws for the full price was an insult to me and my wedding. I asked the sales girl to hold the dress for one day so I could think about it - she said yes, but immediately her demeanor changed. She was no longer the kind, helpful salesgirl from before. She ignored me, I heard her talking about me to another salesgirl, and caught her on Facebook when she should have been (and had told me she would be) helping me with a few more dresses that I wanted to try on. I was NOT impressed with the sales people in this shop. The atmosphere is lovely, the dresses lovely (AND pricey!) but the people were not so lovely. I would definitely recommend that you go somewhere else! I actually found my dress about 2 hours later at another shop: Ball & Bride in South Jordan. I had a great experience, the owner personally attended to me, stayed late to help me find exactly what I wanted.
Worst Experience Ever – I left this shop disgusted. After waiting for over 1/2 an hour past my appointment time, I was extremely disappointed by the service I received. The girl that helped me walked us through the showroom telling us a huge amount of information about each of the collections and then told us to pick out 5-10 dresses to try on and walked away. I am a plus size bride and was unable to find more than 3 dresses that actually fit. The girl didn't help me at all in finding dresses unless I specifically asked for it, but then it wasn't much help. One of the dresses she brought me was 3 sizes too small. Really? She sat behind the desk the whole time I was trying on dresses. I had to get my sisters to help me. The website promised a variety of options and I got 3 not so great dresses to try on. If you are thinking about going here....run the other direction.
Very much enjoyed the quality, service, and atmosphere. – M,
Thank you so much for pointing out the dress! It was a pleasure to work with you and your co-workers. I very much enjoyed the quality, service, and atmosphere of the store. Not to mention, the beautiful dress :) I am very happy with my choice and I look forward to wearing it for my finance.
Best of luck with your wedding plans!
Couldn't be Happier – I could not be happier with my experience at gateway bridal. I am a plus size girl and was very nervous about finding something that would make me feel pretty and that I would be comfortable in. The girls there were so nice and my consultant was very understanding of my concerns. After trying a dress that I wanted to that i thought would look great (which it didn't) my consultant pulled a dress that ended up being perfect. It was strapless but i felt beautiful in it. We ordered in extra fabric to build it up which they assured me could be done. The seamstress they sent me to couldn't have been nicer. She was affordable and my dress looks like it was made with sleeves originally. I would recommend this store to any bride looking for her dress.
Thank You Gateway Bridal! – I had a great experience a Gateway Bridal. I was worried because I didn't have a big budget to work with for my weddding, but I didn't want to comprimise on my dress. When I went in for my appointment, the girl sat down with me and asked me all about what I wanted and what price range I wanted to stay within. She helped me find a beautiful dress, veil, earrings and other accesories and stayed within what I wanted to spend. Thank You!!!
Almost Ruined My Wedding! – Awful Customer Service! I went to Gateway Bridal and found my perfect wedding dress, it was beautiful and fit perfectly. I was informed that it would take 16 weeks for my dress to arrive! It would have gotten to the store 2 days after my wedding. I asked if there was any way to pay extra and put a rush on it and they said no. I asked them if I could buy the display dress they had in the store and after about 20 minutes of them trying to get me to pick another dress they finally agreed to let me buy the display ONLY IF I paid full price ($1100) for it and left it in the store until the week of my wedding so they could continue showing it to customers, and I could only have it for 3 hours to do my bridal photos. Because I loved this dress so much I agreed to this. When i went to pick up my dress to do my bridals the store manager was so rude and made comments to me about how I should have had a longer engagement. So I ended up paying full price for the dress and fee to get it cleaned, I also had to have some of the embellishments repaired because they also allowed other girls TO TRY IT ON! I would never recommend this place to anyone, they made my wedding so stressful!
Worst Customer Service I've had. – I have never received worse customer service from any company. They do not have a seamstress in house and after having my dress altered, I was informed that any further alterations would need to be made by a different seamstress and that I would also have to pay an additional fee. After paying an excessive amount on alterations to begin with, I was shocked to find out I would have to pay even more and especially disappointed that this was never mentioned in the first place. They were completely unapologetic when this was brought up and said, "the question was never asked so we were not able to give an answer." After my initial appointment to try on my dress, I was left on my own and was completely ignored when I came to try on my dress even though I was asked to schedule an appointment so I would be able to have someone there to help me - which was not the case at all.
Being the last bride of 5 in my family, I can honestly say this has never happened with any other company and I will not recommend this store to anyone.
Gateway Bridal is Fabulous!!! – We had the most amazing experience at Gateway Bridal! They have really beautiful wedding dresses and I found the gown of my dreams. I loved their bridesmaid dresses too and everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful. It has been the most fun and best part of planning my wedding. I didn't have to write this review, but I felt it was the least I could do after all they did for me.
