If it weren't so quiet, you'd forget you were in the library. – Overview
Gallery L, the small yet cozy display space hidden in the belly of the public library's main branch, is one of Charlotte's best-kept secrets. Host to small but pertinent traveling exhibits, like the Cochran collection of works by Warhol and Anthony Powell's works on the lives of the Buffalo soldiers, the gallery's mission is to bring art to everyone who's interested.
Gallery L (L for library) opened in February 2000 in the former virtual library location. The area offers a more intimate look at art than one gets at a museum. The ceilings and lighting are low and inviting, and the collections that visit are small enough that visitors don't feel overwhelmed. You can take your time to read all the placards and completely immerse yourself in the art.
8 – visited with my son and daughter-in-law who are in their mid 20s we all enjoyed the outing and they have since taken some of their friends the exhibits are great the display and arrangement of exhibits is very pleasing to the viewer--just a nice interesting thing to do
