great food great service – if you want great food then you have to go to puglia of hester st. my husband and i go at least once a week.we love the staff and always leave happy and content . the owners go out of there way to make you happy. puglia is a hit in my eyes.
Always Fantastic – We have been there 3 times in 3 weeks. In fact we are going again this weekend. We can't say enough good things about this place. The food is always excellent and we have had different meals between the two of us each time. Cannot complain about any of it, it was all wonderful! We have also been there around the times the horrible reviews have been written and cannot fathom the reason behind them. We have had nothing but excellent experiences there and are grateful to have a real Italian restaurant on SI that we truly enjoy. The wait staff has been nothing but prompt and pleasant. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners and they were nothing but absolutely gracious. We have a select few restaurants that we have been patrons of for over 17 years, we are now including Puglia of Hestor Street on our list.
P.S. The Smoked Mozzarella appetizer is to die for!!!!!
WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT???? – My family and I eat at Puglia's of Hester St. at least twice a week. No complaints here! I have no idea who's writing such horrible reviews. The food is delicious, the service is fine (considering they're always packed), and the management is very hospitable. We only have good things to say about this restaurant.....and we have. We've told our friends about it and have highly recommended it. I don't know why they're getting these horrible reviews. It HAS to be some sort of sabotage. My family and I will be going back again for the great food, the great service and the lovely owners.
DISGUSTING!!!!! – I was so excited that Puglia's decided to branch out to SI that I couldn't wait to try it. I heard some bad reviews from friends that had been there when they first opened up so I figured i'd give them some time to iron out the wrinkles. From my experience there the other night seems like I didn't wait long enough. Took over an hour just to get appetizers and then when they came out not only were they the wrong items they were stone cold! Dinner's were brought out in 3 different waves with the first person being finished by the time the last one was getting their entree. I complained to the waitress who seemed very overwhelmed,( they are obviously very short staffed) and got blown off. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and some woman came over who was very rude, didn't offer any valid excuse for the problems we encountered, and had an attitude of oh well....if you weren't satisfied dont come back!!!! I could not believe how Puglia's would allow their name to be connected to such a poorly run establishment!! What a shame.
Puglia of Hester Street ROCKS!!!!!! – I could not believe the negative comments that I read. I eat at this establishment once or twice a week and I totally disagree with the negative comments. The owners are very hospitable, wait staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is GREAT. My husband and I enjoy each and every time we have lunch or dinner there. We were long time fans of the little Italy restaurant and now enjoy the same great food and warm welcome close to home. Please give this restaurant a try and do no heed all of that ridiculous negativity.
Amazing Experience – Whoever wrote this comment defintely never actually came to Puglia of Hester St. because we have never sold a banana avanlache at this location!. Please get your facts right. The next time you want to bad mouth Puglia of Hester St you should come try the food next time before you knock us. Puglia of SI ROCKS!!! We would never lower ourselves to bad mouth another restaurant. We know how hard it is to start a new business..we are very grateful that so far business has been great due to our happy customers.
Puglia of Staten Island – Although we too heard many horrific details of Puglia, we see it is packed and thought maybe the owner had some enemies....to my disgust, everything was true..Waitress forgot us..chicken rollatini looked and tasted like top of black pepper cap came off...horrible...spaghetti and meatballs was spaghetti and alpo balls...banana avalanche was melted...from start to finish a disaster....We live in brooklyn and often dine at Puglia of hester street and most often Puglia East Meadow...Puglia East Meadow...ROCKS!!!!!.... There can no way be any corrolation in the two restaurant...Puglia East Meadow offers entertainment and a meal to remember...Staff treats you like family...No more staten island for us.....
This place is a disaster – wow, i couldnt believe how bad this place was...from the service to the food. New restaurant opens and you cant wait to check it out. The services was disgusting. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out and all we ordered was pasta...how long does it take to boil pasta??? We complained several times to the waitress and not once did the manager, or 4 hostesses come over to apologize or even offer and excuse. How do you run a restaurant like this. And we weren't the only ones who got the shaft, half the place did. When the food finally came out the raviolis were raw, like they just took them out of the pastosa box, because you know they are not making them fresh in this place. The meatball (my kids got spaghetti and meatball off the kids menu) was an embarassment to Italians everywhere. I actually spit it out and wouldnt let my kids eat it. I will never set foot in this place again, what a disgrace to the excited italian community on staten island hoping to have a new nice family restaurant open...save your money and hours of your time...go back to Hester street...or maybe they kicked you out too
Witness to a Horrific Dining Experience – Going against the warnings of some friends and co-workers, I thought I would form my own opinion of Puglia`s and to my amazement, my friends, co-workers, strangers and neighbors were completely right about how bad this place is. Not only did dinner take an 1 hour and 45 minutes, the service was terrible, the wait staff unhappy, the food was below mediocore and the owner, a completely unproffesional and disrespectful individual. After watching two tables get half of their food (and not the correct food either) the customers began to rightfully complain. The "owner" proceeded to explain that the computer printer broke and that they were trying rectify the situation. One customer received crab ravioli when she ordered mushroom. Thank heavens for not having an allergy! After returned dishes, incorrect orders and attitude from the staff and owner, the tables requested their checks. It took another 15 minutes to get the check, which was also incorrect and with all the complaints, to no avail the check was for all the dinners (received and not received.) The customer, trying to rectify the check went to speak to the owner, who proceeded to verbally and personally attack them in the front of the restaurant with customers dining in her so called "establishment." I thought to myself while having dinner that everyone dining there was taking the same chance as I and forming their own opinion of the restaurant. I would have to say, my opinion is probably worse since dining there. It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever witnessed. Working in any customer-relation based field, the first thing that is constantly on your mind is that the customer is always right. The same should apply to people who are trying to make a name for their restaurants. Ultimately, the service was terrible, the food was ok and the owner was totally inappropriate and should take customer service classes. With an attitude like that, Puglia`s will be another short lived restaurant on the island.
The owner is a NUT – I was at the table sitting next to you!!!! Of course you couldn't get anyone to speak to you because she was too busy yelling at me!! LOL Most of the problems could possibly have been atributed to their recent opening and a broken computer system (slow service and mixups) but the manner in which it was handled was dispicable. The female owner has absolutely no customer service or hospitality skills. The woman was screaming (yes literally screaming) about how I should be eating at Nathans because I was dressed in a t-shirt and shorts and thats the service that i'm probably used too. Even if that was the case how could someone who owns a resteraunt stand outside of their establishment and verbally abuse customers like that? BTW I was wearing nice pair of shorts and a WO HOP shirt (King of all chinese restaurants!) and considered myself quite appropriately dressed! Crazy crazy people!
