Automatic gratuity on your bill – I went there with a friend to use a groupon on 10/07/11. We did not use the full amount of the coupon(around $70) and ended up only ordering food of about $60. The waitress looked impatient although lunch hour on a week day was not that busy, maybe 2 or 3 tables. She told us we could not order king crab leg. To our surprise, she wrote a 18% gratuity directly on the bill! It is not a big party, just two persons. And she did not even bother to explain. We knew we were supposed to tip on the full amount and we were ready to but very surprised to get such a rude reminder. Using groupon does not mean we are CHEAP. We gave her the amount she requested + extra changes to round it up. I am not going back because of this kind of attitude. Food is good. Rude waitress ruined the meal. Worst restaurant experience ever!

OMG ! Skip right past this place ! – This is the first review i have ever done, but i thought it was important !!

Had a groupon, upon arriving they told me i couldn't use it for the crab legs, and the prime rib was not available.

at this point i should have taken the hint and ran ! The crab legs were tastless and rubbery, cooked yesterday . the steak tips , (substitute for the prime rib ) was tough as nails.

THEN on top of spending $35. for the groupon , i was charged ANOTHER $10.00 + $19.00 "auto-tip". are you kidding me ???

The manger DOUG was not there to speak to..

So, we paid $29.00 total + Plus the Groupon $35 .= $64.00 total for a calamari app and 2 drinks.

Left two message for DOUG the owner , but he didn't think it was important to get back to me.

Couldn't get out of there fast enough !

This was the worst restaurant in memory.!!!!!!!

Stay away unless you like to drink alot and eat bad food.

This place is a definite skip. – This place is not worth going to. Recently went at dinner and it was ok. Service was slow and it almost seemed the the waitresses kind of did not know what was going on.

Went back for lunch and it was TERRIBLE. No one in the place and service was terrible. Ordered soup, not only was it cold but it was not very good. Also ordered a "Smothered Buffalo Chicken Sandwich" which was on the specials. They brought my soup and sandwich at the same time, which to me is a restaraunt no no. And the sandwich was a Buffalo Chicken wrap and did not even have the same ingredients as listed on the specials menu. The waitress argued with me that this was the only Buffalo Chicken Sandwich they had. She and the kitchen had no idea what the specials were and she never appologized or made much of an attempt to fix it.

Also, the food is overpriced for what it is. There are so many other good restaraunts close by, this one is not worth stopping at!

MMM I love this place – Great atmosphere upon entering. The Bar is set up great and the horseshoe layout makes conversation and restaurant visibility easy. The Tavern has a soft decor that is welcoming to all.

Someone cheerful is always there to greet you! The owner is a really nice guy who will come out and make sure you're meal and experience is great or he'll do something to fix it.

The drinks are great. Cocktails are made to order and there is a nice selection of draft beers. Aside from the drafts, there is a long list of bottles w/ domestics and imports to enjoy.

The menu is not complicated and all the choices are easy to see- the hard part is choosing which to order. I especially enjoy that there are specials that are frequently changed and priced right. All the prices are reasonable to cheap and the servings won't let you leave hungry.

The stuffies are delicious and while some have said there is too much stuffing- Duh- its a "stuffie." I've never had any app like it and love the bits of clams and sausage (is that the secret) that make it an excellent start to the meal.

I've had many items on the menu but my go to is always the Pulled Pork. Seasoned just right and cooked for what must be hours, this tender meat is a crowd pleaser. The barbeque sauce to go with it is really some of my favorite and I always order extra to smother the meat- not as a cover up but because its that good. The pulled pork can even be put on top of the burgers! No other place does that

About the burgers.... MMM. When that burger craving hits, the Tavern will come through big time. Thick and Juicy is the best way to describe the burger. What you put on it is up to you but you can't go wrong with cheese and the fixings. The Tavern Burger is really good too with ham and onions on top. I Love it.

The chicken wings are big and the sauces are great too.

The pizza is worth making a trip for. The sauce and doe are so delicious I must say it is some of my favorite pizza bar none.

I've had a few of the pasta dishes and the seafood will not disappoint- nor with the veggie dish either.

The mash potatoes are so good but not too creamy as I have found elsewhere. The french fries are quality as well- never under or over cooked.

All around I have to give the Tavern a 5 because their attention to detail in ensuring you have a great experience and yummy meal to bring you back are what makes this place different! Whenever I am in town I make a stop there.

*I've heard great things about the Tavern on game days since it is so close to Gillette Stadium.

Total Perfection- My Kind of Place! – From the moment I step into this place the employees make me feel like I own the place- friendly up beat hostess and bartenders that know how to make a drink along with insightful small tavern talk banter.

I have been here many times and everything is exceptional- just like the last reviewer said- the staff and food is top notch. I have tried everything on the menu & it's all been great- total perfection & superior service by well trained servers who smile and sing like poets as they cater to your every need- everyone here is on cloud 9, from the staff to the customers, its truly unique.

I love the burgers, just like hornt2k said, worth every penny of 9 bucks- these burgers must be sirloin because they just melt in your mouth.

I haven't tried any other pub since the tavern opened- and yes I also met Scott Brown, but I also met other local celebs who frequent this pub of perfection.

If you haven't been- get there soon- ask to speak to the owner- he's a real great guy with lots to tell you.

I just wish I could give it 100 stars- But I did max it out at 5 stars!

Worth a trip to see the Tavern – I have been to the Tavern at Wrentham several times, and have been incredibly pleased every time. The staff is always very pleasant and accommodating, which is a comforting feeling in this world Nothing like being pleased to be seated by a friendly hostess.

The food is awesome - burgers with pulled pork or any topping you want for 9 bucks. The rolls are incredibly soft and add to the overall greatness of the burger! Onion rings are awesome, fries very good and always crispy the way I like them. Pizza is good - with a weekly special that is always a good deal.

The waitstaff is always helpful, usually refilling my drink before I even ask. Everyone is hardworking there and pleasant to customers.

There is also some entertainment at the bar and video games and lottery machine in the back. I went to trivia night once on tuesday and have a great time with my friends. Drinks are affordable, with draft beers from 2 bucks.

The overall atmosphere is comforting, yet cozy for a tavern layout. Also, I met Scott Brown and his family there which was a bonus.

Recommendation: 5 stars, pack up the car and head to the tavern for a great time!

Terrible MEAL – I must admit it was my idea to try "The Tavern", last time I was there is was "Tom's Tavern". My experience at the bar was pleasant. I had a glass of red wine (pinot noir) with calamari appetizer which I shared with my husband. When our dining companions arrived, we left the bar. Asked the waitress for her opinion on the seafood and pasta entree's, she had no opinion!! This is not a good sign! Ended up ordering fish and chips which arrived very over cooked and french fries were hard. Best part of the meal was the coleslaw. Thought that the atmosphere and staff lacked personality. We chose to head over to MR DOOLEY's down the street and we were glad we did! Should have eaten dinner there!

Great Food, atmosphere needs improvement. – I went with my wife and we were seated right away. The table was dissapointing to say the least, something out of a dirty lounge somewhere. No tablecloth and the chairs were cheap. The walls were bare with a dark red color with bright white ceilings. Our server was fantastic. The food was exceptional. Hopefully after they get settled they can concentrate on making the Tavern someplace you'd want to stay a while at. There are many pubs in the area that provide a much better atmosphere but the food was great.

Not good! – Was so excited to see the old Tom's Tavern opened up again with the same type menu. We arrived and were told the air conditioning was not working, it was at least 85+ inside the restaurant. The waitress was great and always available. The food was just ok, pasta with seafood was very stingy of the seafood, very little pasta and not worth the $17.95 in any means. The stuffies were good although very little clams inside. I left there still hungry, wet from perspiration due to no a/c and WILL NOT be going back.

Local Pub Awesomeness – I was a huge fan of Tom's Tavern and their pub style food, and was disappointed when they closed. I was apprehensive about what the food and atmosphere would be like under new ownership, but I was amazed at how closely the menu and the atmosphere remained the same after they reopened this summer.

For those complainers who whine about the kinks not being out yet, or not being able to find your way to a table, I have to laugh and ask...when you walk into a local tavern, are you expecting a five star seven course meal and a maitre de waiting to guide you to your candle lit table? Or pub food and a local, entertaining atmosphere? if it;s the former, then the fault is your own for picking the wrong venue.

Tavern at Wrentham is everything you expect it to be - if you're paying attention to where you are parking your car and where you are actually walking into for food and drinks. When I first walked it, the aroma from the kitchen was the familiar baked stuffed shrimp recipe that Tom's used to serve. Now the Tavern, they still serve up some spectacular seafood. Oysters on the half shell? As fresh as anything I have ever found. Stuffies? Two for a couple of dollars, a bargain anywhere. Clam cakes? A taste of local New England. Dinnners? The bourbon steak tips are ridicilously good.

The interior looks much different than it did at Tom's. An expanded bar takes up a lot of space fomerly reserved for tables, but they still have the signature round tables that seat a large party of friends or family.

The kitchen has an open service window - you can see the guys cooking in back, which I enjoy.

The staff and management - totally entertaining. Annie the manager is always friendly and always stops by the table. Jennifer the waitress is engaging ( and hilarious ).

if you want to complain about your salad not being crispylicious enough for you because you expect hearts of romaine instead of a simple starter salad, or there's one too few cherry tomatoes for your liking, or you want seating and lighting that shows off your nine pound cubic zirconia when you sip your chardonnay, again, this is not the place for you.

If you want aunthentic local atmosphere, great tavern food, and people who genuinely seem to enjoy what they are doing, I can't recommend Tavern at Wrentham enough.
