Peruvian cuisine at it's finest. The lomo saltado is one of my favorites. Save room for dessert the piccarones are amazing!

No better place to get quality food in DTLA with great flavors and textures! Lomo saltado done fancy yet affordable!

If you love Peruvian food, this is your place. Chef Ricardo Zarate makes classic Peruvian dishes gussied up a bit. Think quinoa made in the style of risotto, fresh, beautiful ceviches and seco made with high-quality meat. Total win.

Gourmet Peruvian – Situated in the Mercado La Paloma, Mo-Chica serves up fresh and gourmet Peruvian. They claim to use organic ingredients as well.

I had the lamb shank which was so tender and the meat just melted off the bone as soon as you hovered your fork over it. I also enjoyed the seafood rice.

You must get the daily ceviche. Last Friday was halibut and the delicious sauce was addicting. We also got the causa which is a cold potato salad. This day, it was topped with crab claw and simply delicious.

I hear there are monthly tastings so I want to go back soon!

CItysearch Editorial Review – One day, chef-owner Ricardo Zarate might make his ceviche del dia with traditional sea bass and the next day with snapper, halibut or tuna. But whatever sea delicacy he's using, you can bet it's high-grade fish from that morning’s market. Served with corn, sweet potato slices, red onions and seaweed in tangy leche de tigre, it’s an unbeatable way to start your Peruvian meal. The menu is short but covers the gamut: seco de cordero (lamb shank with cilantro beer stew and canary beans); lomo saltado (prime beef filet with Lincoln log fries); arroz con marisco (Peruvian paella with mixed seafood); and even quinotto, a vegetarian-friendly mushroom risotto made with quinoa. Every dish is prepared with the kind of detail that you’d expect at a higher-end restaurant (not a surprise, considering the chef’s work at Zu Robata, Wabi-Sabi and London’s Zuma), which makes this very wallet-friendly destination that much more appetizing.
