Worst Hair Experience of My Life!!!! – This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life!! My hair is ruined! I know that you have to sign a waiver because they are students, but I also THOUGHT the supervisors would be there to check on things regularly. This was certainly not the case!! My hair is totally ruined and I would never recommend this place to anyone! It will cost me a lot more money than I saved by going here to ever get my hair damage fixed. It will probably have to grow out to really ever be fixed. If you have to go there, don't see anyone but a senior student, and even then, it's a real risk! I don't feel like they are on the side of the consumer at all there, but out to make all the money they can.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, anywhere else!!! i can appreciate that it is important to protect and care for your students, but what about your clientele? the management at this location is under the impression that being rude and condescending is an appropriate way to treat their paying customers. After receiving a piss pour pedicure where I slid around in my chair everytime my student moved and having my soak in a bowl full of cold water, I wanted to tell the management that it was irresponsible to have the students double over their clients. they will hurt their backs, etc... the receptionist asked me how my experience was and when I began to give my "constructive criticism" she cut me off and started tlaking to someone else. I told her after the other client left that she shouldn't ask if she didn't care. push come to shove, i asked for the manager who was even more rude. he told me that nails aren't a priority and that it's below his students b/c they pay 20K a year in tuition! Well guess what? i'm a dentist and my tuition was more like 50K a year and I had to pay for 4 years, so sorry if that doesn't impress me! i'm never going back. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
Great Experience – I really enjoyed my experience at the Aveda School Salon. I was uncertain as to what I would find when I first walked in and was pleased to see the wide array of students and the instructors walking around to assure that quality was taking place.
The girl who did my hair was VERY thourough...I mean, wouldn't you be if your instructor checked on you the entire time, and I left the salon with great 2 toned highlights and a fatter pocketbook than I would have in any other salon.
I will definitely go back. I was very pleased.
The place for style – I've been going to Aveda for several years and have been pleased with every cut. They have worked with me to help find the cuts and colors that work with my faceshape and hair texture, while also keeping me looking "trendy".
They can take a bit longer than most salons because they are still in the learning phase. But for the price you can't beat it!
Wonderful experience – From the minute I stepped into the Aveda institute, I knew that I would be back. The service was exceptional from the front desk staff to the student who gave me my cut and color. Small perks such as a complementary mini-facial during the shampoo will definitely have me coming back for future services.
Great Inexpensive Hair Salon – I have had GREAT results at the Aveda Salon. I have been going for about 2 years now and have used several of the students (usually advanced) for all-over color and cuts.
I also use the Aveda products - love the moisture-rich shampoo and conditioner.
Thanks for helping me save money and look fabulous!
Best deal for pampering – Well I live in Winston Salem, NC and drive about 75 minutes to get here every 6 weeks. After paying $60.00 for the worst haircut in history by a girl who looked 12, I started on a 'stylist' search. I had heard from friends who live in Chapel Hill about the Aveda Institute and all they have to offer so I thought Id give it a try. I have never been disappointed and its been almost a year. I have gotten mostly stylist who are in the last few weeks of training. They usually recommend someone else for the next cut if they will no longer be available. I have also had a few new stylist and it just takes longer since every few cuts must be approved. However, how wrong can you go with 2 people working on you? I am always offered facials when they wash my hair, I was given a message once while waiting for the stylist to finish up. and Im never charged extra so there are no 'hidden costs' .They always call me to let me know if there is going to be a problem and to also confirm.
Its just a really nice environment and an enjoyable experience.
Good value – I have visited the Aveda Institute twice since moving to the Chapel Hill area. My first service was the Caribbean body therapy, both the student and the service was wonderful (and the hour was just $50!). On my next visit, I got a pedicure. I had a new student this time, and she was so nice, but definitely not great at the actual service. There was very little massaging involved even though this was part of the service description. I was definitely a little disappointed. Both times I have visited, I have had at least a 30 minute wait, but the prices have justified these small issues. And of course the Aveda products are a plus as well. I am returning for my third service in a few weeks.
Great Experience – I have been going to the Aveda Institute for four years. I have short hair and get my hair cut every six weeks. i have had only one questionable hair cut in all of those I have had over the years.
The students are very nice, listen well and are very confident. I feel certain that if they can handle my short, curly, thick hair, they can handle most any hair cut!
In addition to the low prices I also like that you don't tip the students. You can tip for a cause to many great charities or choose not to tip at all.
The only downfall I find is a haircut, without being styled, usually takes my stylist at least an hour.
I have recommended this place to many friends and I will continue to do so!
Fabulous highlights! – I was skeptical to get my hair colored at Aveda because it is all students. I have gotten my hair cut there numerous times, but usually do my hair color myself. I needed to go lighter (after going super dark for winter) so I definitely did not want to do it myself. I did not want to pay $150 or so at a fancy salon so I decided to try it out. Emmy was great (too bad she was graduating the next day) and gave me several ideas. She also grabbed her instructor who had the same idea. It took about 3.5 hours from start to finish, but I am super happy with the results. I want more blond so I am going back in a few weeks! I would highly recommend getting a more advanced student -- I am guessing it would take longer if the student was brand new.
