Best Thai Restaurant in NW Houston!. I feel compelled to write a review for this family-owned Thai Restaurant because I've been looking for a great Thai place for a while. My husband and I LOVE Thai food. I myself cook Thai food having learned from 3 Thai families, so I know what I am looking for in a great Thai restaurant. A friend told us about Thai Express which is located in a strip center near Veterans Memorial and Beltway 8. It is important to note that this restaurant is under NEW MANAGEMENT as of this summer (August, I believe). From the outside it is nothing special so we weren't expecting much. However, once you step inside it is quite a different story. They have beautiful tables and very nice chairs with a nice interior design. Restrooms are average yet very clean. Now, to the most important part-- the food. Let's just say we were immediately HOOKED!. We had their red curry, Pad Kee-Mao and Tom Yum soup. Absolutely LOVED IT! Fresh ingredients as is to be expected of thai food, perfect temperature and rice noodles cooked to perfection. Other dishes our friends and I have tried include the Thai Ginger, Pad Sa Ew, Pad Ped Fillet (Spicy Fish fillet - expect a wait on this) and Mussaman (curry) - all of which have become favorites of ours. Prices are very reasonable. The owners, composed of Thais and Laotians, are more than willing to please you so if you want to exclude or include certain vegetables they will be more than happy to do so. We've already gotten 6 other friends hooked on this restaurant. Since we first tried it in September we have been there about 8 times. Needless to say they know me by name. Steve and Amy are extremely friendly and helpful. The only negative I can think of is that they dont always make it SPICY enough for my husband's liking (but he's one to eat habaneros and we grow our own variety of peppers). Just ask for extra thai peppers on the side or their spice rack. I hope you give this restaurant a try!
