Even with the Grove dominating the area, Buzz Coffee has remained a neighborhood coffee shop that caters to screenwriters and locals. The Groundworks coffee is perfectly good, but if you want something with a little more flair, try the Chai Tea Latte. There's free wifi if you need it, as well as plenty of outlets for the laptop.
Great People Clueless Owner – BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH
If you want lung cancer write your screenplay here. They cook eggs, bacon, and have a 40 year old double decker toaster, all operating without a proper OVEN VENT?
TOO CHEAP. The Korean owner doesn't drink or even like coffee, so it's no wonder the coffee is terrible.
Ads all over the place and one of those bogus flat screen televisions like you see at the gas station or bank.
From whatever 80's FM station they play all the time. Too cheap to play real music or subscribe to a service.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers anyone? – Simple coffee house if you can ignore the 30 people sitting staring into their laptops. And if you don't mind all 30 of them staring at you as soon as you walk in the door, as if you are trespassing on the land that they have taken over. Coffee isn't great.
If you want to sit and enjoy your coffee, you will have to do it on the curb, as none of the lap-top users, gobbling free wi-fi are going to move until they are done blogging.
I love to support my neighborhood coffee shops, but this may have been my last cup.
Priced the same as a Starbucks, and Coffee Bean, on Melrose, I am probably going to have to make the switch to corporate coffee.
It's Whatever – I randomly came across this coffee shop on a Sunday afternoon. Went in, it was packed but then I was able to get a seat when someone was just about to leave. Ordered an egg and cheese sandwich and was suprised that it wasn't an egg salad sandwich but more of a big piece of scrambled egg...oh well. The coffee I got was prett good. I didn't have any altercations as described but nothing was really special about it either.
Colorful coffeehouse caters to industry types, yoga instructors and trendy locals of all persuasions. – In Short
This small cafe's reputation for potent coffee and people-watching makes it one of L.A.'s busiest coffeehouses. Patrons range from nine-to-fivers looking for a morning rush to lingering sippers enjoying an after-dinner cup of joe. Breakfast features granola bowls and fresh fruit salad. Tuna or turkey sandwiches make for quick, easy lunches. Buzz also serves chai "Freezzes," protein shakes and a selection of teas. Pastry case faves include chocolate Bundt cake and Oreo cookie cheesecake.
Skip this Buzz – The coffee at Buzz is really bad. The espresso is only a little better, but still below average. I've tried to like this place since it's across the street from me but Erewhon market and Nordstrom Cafe, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and <gasp> Starbucks all make better caffeinated beverages at the same price. The ambience of Buzz is hot (no A/C) and covered in pet hair since they welcome dogs.
