Terrible service. Food is just OK. Better options for Italian food in Cary.
Terrible Experience! – So I have been a Cary resident for many years. My husband works for the Town of Cary and we live in a very nice Cary neighborhood although it is not Lochmere. This was our second and last visit we will ever make to Bocci! I heard it was great, great food, great service, etc. The first visit was fine, but we took our food to go. This time we took our 5 year old. We got her a kids meal and asked for a side of steamed broccoli for her. My husband ordered a chicken dish and asked to have the pasta replaced with loaded mashed potatoes. To our surprise, when our bill came we were charged $5.00 for a kids side of broccoli and $4.00 to substitute the pasta for loaded mashed potatoes!! REALLY?? Now, while we are not millionaires, we make a good living and DO look at bills when they come. When we asked the server about it, he said that is just the way it is and he is not sure why it is that way either. My husband then asked to speak with the owner/manager. We talked with a manager who needs some education in customer service and what sets good restaurants apart from ones that run out of business. He did state he would remove the $4.00 charge after stating that we would not be returning, but would only remove it if we gave the another chance. He said it was all out of his hands and that the owner makes the decisions on prices. He went on to state that they have regular patrons that are there often to infer that our business is not needed. That mentality is exactly what causes businesses to fail! Upon asking the manager where was the CREDIT for the pasta that was not eaten in order to charge $4.00 for the potatoes, we could not get a response. Essentially, it cost us over $11.00 for a kids meal. I am certain the Lochmere residents are the ones keeping Bocci in business, but it will only be a matter of time before a new restaurant comes along in the area. In my opinion, Chef's Palette (within 2 miles) is SO much better in every single aspect. The owner is phenomenal, everyone knows her, she is there for the patrons and this nonsense would have never occurred! If you are like me and read reviews, don't waste your money at Bocci. You get the same quality of food at the Macaroni Grill without all the up charging!
Poor Service – We took our daughter there to celebrate her Birthday. Waited > 1.5 hr. for a pizza. When we spoke to the mgr
he offered a gift card instead of taking something off the bill. Assuming we'd like to experience that again!!!
Great Pizzas! – We have tried the New York Style and the Deep Dish at family gatherings and the adults thanked us greatly for bringing the Pizza!
Excellent Italian Food – Great Decor. I felt like I was in Tuscany. Excellent Service. Large portions. The appetizers which were the Spinach & Ricotta Balls were out of this world. The marinara sauce was "Top Shelf." I bet the cook used "Scalfani's" which I can't find here in NC.
Pleasently surprised that on Sundays they offer 1/2 price bottle of wines, that are under $30.00.
Nice view of Lochmere Golf Course while dinning.
I'm giving Bocci's 5 stars as my first impression.
The waitress was attentive and her suggestions were right on the money. I ordered the Monte Mare ($16) and my spouse ordered the Pappardelle Florentina (14).
You can also play Bocci on the lawn before or after dinner.
We highly recommend Bocci's in Cary.
