Horrible food quality.

Bad and potentially deadly! – Went in with a friend the other night around 5:30pm. Considering the location I wasn't expecting much but we were both disgustingly underwhelmed. Most of the food on the buffet was cold! Yes, COLD! At that time everything should have been piping hot even if their buffet table isn't working properly. Some of the items were both hot and cold meaning that they had not been properly heated before putting them on the table.

On top of the food being potentially deadly, it was just not good! The first pass me and my friend loaded up on our normal favorites. Hardly touched any of them because they tasted so bad! Even the Spinach Paneer was disgusting and I am not sure how you accomplish that! The only good thing was the mango soft serve and the fact that I didn't get food poisoning.

Also, service was non-existent. No option to order beverages and were made to sit with their disgusting food, untouched, on our table while we attempted to eat a balanced, safe meal. Also, small child was handling food and throwing back into the buffet which should have been handled by waitstaff but wasn't.

Not fine dining, but great for a buffet. – I am a fan of good Indian food, and have tried most of the buffets in Portland. I usually have pretty low expectations due to the limitations of the buffet format, but Namaste has raised the bar. I used to go to their Vancouver location, and was always pleased. Their new location is even better. I'm not going to say it's the best in town or that the food is better than most. It isn't. But overall, it is an excellent value for the price, and compared to other buffets in town it rocks!

Also, the tandoori Halibut, excellent Aloo Ghobi, and perfect vegetable pakoras are enough to keep me coming back.

Disappointing experience – First of all, the service was nonexistent. We were not served by a waitperson once after we received our initial pitcher of water. I know it is a self-service buffet place, but we missed being able to order some tea or a glass of wine to drink at least.

Second, the food was adequate for buffet food, but it just was not up to par for those who know what excellent Indian food should taste like. Portland has a dearth of good Indian food, sadly, but even so, the food at the tiny "New Taste of Indian" cart downtown makes Indian food that is far superior than what you will find at Namaste. For example, another reviewer called one Namaste dish "radioactive orange," and I think that should be an immediate sign that something is not right. Good Indian food is usually not radioactive orange. It also shouldn't remind you of Campbell's tomato soup (e.g., the sauce for the "Chicken Tikka Masala").

The only really tasty things at Namaste were the Kheer (rice pudding) and strangely, the Mango soft-serve ice cream, which was colored a bright orange too --- this time, not surprisingly.

All in all, even though the food was adequate for buffet food, Namaste was a very disappointing experience for this fan of delicious Indian food. Because of this, my hunt for an excellent Indian restaurant in Portland continues, and I will not be coming back to Namaste. So sad!

Great Indian buffet – I enjoy coming to this buffet, the food and quality is great for a buffet. If it comes down to choosing Chinese buffet and Namaste, Namaste definitely wins. I don't know the names of the dishes, but so far, I've enjoyed all the ones I've tasted. There is a radioactive orange colored chicken dish that I really like. Also, the lamb is delicious! I never eat lamb dishes because I often get pieces of meats that are too gamey for my taste, but the lamb here was awesome.
