Great Cajun Food – Although I am not a big gumbo fan, I found this to be really excellent. I would certainly order it again. The muffalatta was the best I've had outside New Orleans.
We got really personal service and felt very comfortable with the staff and the dining area itself.
I will certainly go back.
Worst service I've experienced in a long time. – Living in the Heights my wife and I wanted to support a local restaurant in our Hood, so we decided to pop in for a late breakfast prior to kids afternoon activities. Despite average to mediocre reviews we decided to try it for ourselves...what a mistake that was.
After waiting a short time to be seated (did not want to sit next to the guitar playing guy) we were guided to a nice spot outside. The waiter, a young kid, took our order and instead of iced tea we got iced water. A little mistake, right? Wrong, it was a sign of worst things to come! This was followed by a bland iced tea without lemons and a small bottle of minute maid handed to my wife with a glass vs. our expectation of some fresh orange juice.
After 45 minutes and no sign of breakfast we started inquiring about the fate of our food to be told that there were 2 orders ahead of us. There were other hungry patrons sitting nearby who also commented on how the service at this place "sucks". The food showed up 10 minutes later only to be the wrong order, not even close.
This is when we stood up and gave them a 5 min. ultimatum. My wife who was very upset, but not as upset as I was went to the waiter and asked to see what he had written down. He had it down correctly, but for whatever reason could not articulate the right order to the kitchen. Needless to say our 5 min ultimatum was not fulfilled. This is when the manager told us that they had only received our food order 26 minutes before and that if we had to leave we wouldn't be charged for the lemonless iced tea and orange from concentrate bottle we were handed.
I wish I could write a review of the food, but the closest we got to it was to take a sniff from the plates that were placed and quickly removed from our table.
Will we go back to this place again? Let me think...hmm...NO! So much for supporting our hood...
A owner in denial – Waited over 45 minutes for a Muffaletta and fries. Our waiter had no clue what day of the week it was let alone how to be a server. When the owner did come through the restaurant she joked that I did order the full size and that it would tast just great for dinner tonight. Told her I was going to feed it to my dog and she blamed the problem on her waiter. She told us she had 20 women in a smaller room, there was maybe 10 in this tiny room and 10 in the dinning room. She said the waiter should have told us about the large group. Lady if you can not handle 20 patrons at lunch time close your doors. Then to cap it off the waiter charged the wrong credit cards the wrong bills. And by the way the food is not that good, fair maybe on a good day so 2 stars on the food and 0 stars for service.
Great Neighborhood Breakfast – I love this place for breakfast. Excellent service, great food. Try the cajun grits, yummy. Cafe au Lait with beingnets rounds out a perfect New Orleans meal.
