have not had the best luck with AC companies in the past. But my heater went completely out. So I tried Jon Wayne. Phone operator took my service
Call and was very professional. They sent out their Technician Albert. He arrived on time. Was clean and neat. Spoke well and was very friendly. Best part was my heater is running and it didn't cost me a fortune. I will be replacing my unit later this year and plan to use Jon Wayne for the installation.
Today we had County Wide install a new ac unit at our house because previous experiences with John Wayne were terrible. Anyways, we also have a garage apartment and we had John Wayne install a "brand new" ac unit in it in 2011. Let me mention that, we payed the brand new price for this "brand new" ac unit. No one has resided in the garage apartment since 2010, but we decided to get it replaced in case we rented it out. Well, while County Wide was at our house, we did the regular cleaning of the garage apartment and realized that the ac in the garage apartment stopped working. We asked a County Wide technician to take a look at the ac unit. It turns out, the "brand new" ac unit that John Wayne installed in 2011 was actually made in 2005. In a discussion with a John Wayne employee, he siad "it's not like a car, it doesn't lose value." Really? An ac unit that that is six years old that hasn't been maintained doesn't lose value? We were sold a "brand new" ac unit under false pretenses.
I got robbed!
Groupon made it sound like a good deal. So I went for it.
Service guy's name was Brandon. He was shady as hell. He arrived at 1:25 and took his time doing everything. Wife wasn't looking over shoulder or anything just gave her access to the house. He kept asking personal questions about me. What I do and if I come often. Then when finished he insisted to talk to me and that if he didn't talk to me he would kept hus findings to himself. He refused to give my wide the invoice without going over it. My wife had to run out and pick up my son from daycare and he waited outside for her. Wife came back and he gave her the invoice.
He left around 530 when reading invoice, it shows he was present at home from 1:45-4:30. Called company and complained and they gave me crap about employes going through background checks before getting hired.
Long story short, the next day I got robbed. Robbers knew what I had and where it was. They knew no one was gonna be home and what the weakpoint of my house where. Could be random but robbery aside, when my wife is harrassed by someone I'm paying and trusting to work around my kids. I expect professional customer service.
Take the chance and maybe you'll have a better experience but jon wayne needs better structure when it comes to employees. They don't even keep track of their location at anytime.
Sorry jon wayne. I gave you a chance and you blew it. Never again will I trust anyone who enters house again.
Run away from this company. I called them sometime last year for a summer check up and we loved them very nice said we were leaking freon we never doubted it because the unit was old. He said that it must be a slow leak because he couldn't find where it was leaking from. So we dished out 300 . Part of the deal was they do a winter check up . Well, they didn't called intill springtime. Then, had to reschedule twice because they were over 2 hours passed the time the said they would be here. The straw that broke the camels back was when they sent out a different guy from the last time he acted like he was the one that was there before. On top of that he said he told me before where the leak was. What really got me was that he left the cap to the freon off trying to set me up. Needless to say this summer I needed to replace my ac unit inside but guess who I DIDN'T CALL John Wayne .
They fixed it! – They made a mistake and were not to proud to admit it.
Got refunded what I paid for the mistake and offered extras. Apparently they care about their customers
It's all good

technician or salesman? – Fan motor failed in exterior air conditioning unit. It was 100 degrees outside on a Friday morning and we were expecting company on Saturday. I had to go to work so my wife called around and the first place she called, Jon Wayne, said they could send a tech that afternoon. Perfect! Wife advised dispatcher what was wrong, so they would be sure to have a spare motor on the truck.
Tech arrived timely, after a friendly phone call advising that he was around 30 minutes out. (That call gave me a chance to return home from office.) Tech was polite, friendly and knowledgable. I took him right out, pulled off the covers, and showed him the failed fan motor. Showed him that the contactor was providing 220v to fan motor and said, can he replace the motor?
Tech said he needed to check some other things so I gave him a few minutes with the unit then returned. He showed me where the contactor was wearing and suggested that I might need a new contactor. Yes it is an older contactor but I politely declined and asked if he could replace the motor. He said he needed to see the interior unit (furnace with a/c coil above). I could not see why, but said okay.
Tech examined interior unit. It is obviously an older unit. He pointed out rust on furnace heat exchanger, suggesting that using the furnace in this condition might be dangerous. Then he suggested that the fan coils might be dirty. I stopped him from digging deeper and said look, I know this is an older unit. It will have to be replaced at some point. But we have an emergency. We are expecting guests tomorrow and we need a fan motor immediamente. I asked him again, can he change the fan motor? He said that it would not be possible to have a warranty on the motor if my coils are dirty. I told him fine, I would assume the risk on premature failure of a new-in-box motor, and asked how much. He said, $540. I said, I am prepared to go as high as $350 for a new $80 motor and I can get you back on the road before your engine is cool; what do you say? He looked through his pricing guidance and said the best he can do was $480. I asked, how much do we owe for your time so far? He said $29. I paused, hoping that he would propose a reasonable price for the (unwarrantied) motor install. He said nothing further so I said okay, $29. My wife wrote him a check.
Tech was consistently polite and clearly knew his stuff. But he wasn't really very interested in replacing the fan motor, which is what we had called for in the first place. It was obvious that he wanted to sell us upgrades or replacement of the system.
Bought a new motor over the counter at Morrison Supply. It cost $67 and took me less than a hour to install. (Probably more like ten minutes for an expert). It was a bit of a hassle. But, as I had told the Jon Wayne rep, we were having company the next day and needed to get the system back up and running!
They walked away from a $350 sale that probably would have provided a $200 margin, even with tech time,
Great Service with a Smile – I just wanted to say that I used Jon Wayne for air conditioner repair last year. I also used them for air conditioner replacement this year. They have always been outstanding in the customer service department. The techs are very good at what they do. I was able to get a new system and the process was painless. I also got the HVAC tax credit. The financing program was very good and the finance people are very friendly also. I have lived in North San Antonio in Elm Creek for 12 years, have had several San Antonio air conditioning repair companies out to my home. Jon Wayne is the Best I have seen. I recommend them highly.
Dishonest- will take your money – My ac went out about a year ago and my wife called Jon Wayne. They came out and told me my blower wheel was damaged. They installed a new one and signed my wife up to a 14.95 a month fee for warranty and check ups!!! Never came for check ups and when the ac wheel failed again and in less than a year they said it was the motor!!! I called 2 other ac companies and both told me the wheel was installed improperly, one asked if I installed it myself!!!Called Jon Wayne back and told them. There response was to refund my 14.95 a month charge.... They did nothing to earn that money in the first place, no service inspections and no warranty!!! Then they refused to fix the problem that they caused!!! Would not and will not use this horrible company again!!!!
When we looked at the customer's equipment a year ago, we performed an thorough examination of his equipment and recommended that he replace the blower motor and wheel. He opted to only replace the wheel, even though we advised that the motor would be going out soon. Now the motor has gone out as anticipated and he is unhappy about it. He was told by the other contractors that the wheel wasn't balanced, which is a factory design issue, not an installation issue. We work very hard to provide our customers with clear, actionable information so they can make an informed decision on how they want to proceed. Even though we acted in good faith through out the process, we generously gave the customer a refund.
great service – i have been without AC for days, and i have been waiting for another company to come out. still waiting by the way. called Jon Wayne and they were here today and got it working today. they gave me several options and i might still need a new unit, but no pressure. will use and sign up for their service. excellent customer service
