My hot water tanks went about a week ago now. I called Ben Peer after a close friend recommended I do so. They showed up the next business day, at the time they said they would. Bill was professional, neat, and efficient. I had a brand new hot water tank installed in no time. What I loved most was how helpful and informative he was, I didn't feel dumb asking questions, and he did not become annoyed when I hovered over him as he worked. We even shared a few laughs. Ben Peer Heating will be getting all my future business from now on. Thanks again guys!
They even tried to illegally charge me 3% more for using a c – Let's see, first they told me $850 for a hot water heater after checking out the existing power vent 50 gallon unit in my basement.
After calling the distributor, they suddenly changed their price to $1,200.
I said OK.
Then, after I gave them my credit card number for the 50% deposit, they informed me that there would be an extra 3% fee for using my VISA card.
I told them no way!
After that I found that passing this fee on to the customer is actually illegal.
Nice job, Ben Peer.
My next action is to call VISA card services to report them for this action.
I'd suggest avoiding Ben Peer.
Horrible customer service & astronomical prices – I had Ben Peer out at the end of last year for my furnace which was not heating. The guy came out, sat in my driveway for 20min, went right down to the furnace & came back after -no lie- less than 15min, and it was repaired. He cleaned a clog & drained something else- and then charged me almost $350. Now, only a couple months later, the same exact thing happened AGAIN. (Not heating & same flashing error code.)
And despite the minimal service needed, them not having properly repaired the problem initially, and it reoccuring so soon after the initial service- they refused to come out again without charging another $350, if not MORE this time for additional service. The office manager was very unapologetic & curt. Also, the manager notified me that the gentleman "Michael" that was out previously- was one of the co owners of the company!!! And that's the service I get? From an OWNER? I expect the problem to be resolved, or them to resolve it when it reoccurs like I paid them to do. Instead I paid them $350 for a minor cleaning of "a" part & a draining. I want a job where I can earn $350 for less than 15min of work.
Needless to say, I went to another company who came out & repaired it for $79.95 + tax TOTAL- and said if it reoccurs within a year they will return for free.
THAT'S service I expect!!!
