McClincy's will ensure you are treated fairly.
I had frozen water pipes in my rental home and I was out of town at the time and my insurance company hired an independent adjuster locally that was difficult to work with. My tenants had to move out so repairs could begin and I had to fight with the independent adjuster about getting reimbursed for loss rental income though it was clearly listed as covered in my policy. My insurance adjuster kept on telling me I had to get three estimates even after they had the estimate from McClincy's; which delayed my tenants from moving back in quickly. After several weeks I finally heard back from my insurance company adjuster who promptly paid the claim and authroized repairs. Thank goodness McClincy's didn't wait for my insurance company to issue checks or my tenants would have been out several months. In fact my repairs were completed even before I got an insurance check.
McClincy's will ensure you are treated fairly by your insurance company!
Don't Need My Business. I called to inquire one day about replacing the carpet on our stairs (they installed it initially). The woman who answered said it depended on how much carpet we had and suggested I talk further with one of the installers. The installer (which I later found out was the owner) called me a few times at inconvenient hours (mostly while I was driving and couldn't answer). Some other personal matters intervened and I realized I needed to measure the carpet before I could talk intelligently about how we wanted to proceed. I did not get a chance to call back untill a few weeks later. At that time I was told that I needed to take my business elsewhere. Apparently my lack of response irritated the owner. Wow. Must be nice to have so much business that you can dismiss not only this small job but any future business I might have (the last time we contracted for $22K). They clearly don't need my business.
Fantastic work once again. My experience again was terrific. This time I updated our dining room, living room and entry. The workers took great pride in their craftsmanship and always made sure the rest of our home was protected. Finished ahead of schedule.
I wish I had read the following reviews before engaging McClincy's to work on our home.
Although the craftsmen (who, interestingly no longer work for McClincy's) did excellent work, our overall experience causes us to say, AVOID THIS FIRM!
Thank you for your review and your compliment of our our craftsmen work at your home. Our craftsmen have been with us for many years so we are confused when you say that our craftsmen no longer works for us and don't understand if you had such a great experience why you would say to avoid our firm!
Tim McClincy, President
The kitchen remodel McClincys performed was everything I expected.
Started on time and completed on schedule.
The work done was perfect. No issues came up during the work. The skilled crew was respectful of my home, cleaned up every day on completion and when finished, made sure everything was perfect.
I highly reccomend them.
Excellent contractor. We were so amazed at the McClincy organization. The pure professionalism and knowledge of restoration after our home was damaged due to frozen pipes was the best. Tim, the owner and his team was superb " a true man of his word". The workmanship, friendliness and overall customer service was terrrific. They took special care when packing and storing our items and always kept us informed of their progress, as we had to relocate our family to a hotel while they were working. We did some upgrades with them and love our new kitchen. We liked that they had a showroom so we could pick out our materials. We have found a place to shop for all our home improvement needs.
Stay away from them.
I had a tough time working with McClincy's while trying to recover from my water damaged home.
My home had sufferred water damages during the December'08 snow storm. This was the first time I had to file a claim with my home insurance company. I did not know how insurance works. When I contacted McClincy's, they quickly figured out my ignorance in this area. They promised me that they will fix everything in my home and also take care of filing paper work with my insurance company. Desperate to get my damaged home back to normalcy, I trusted their promises and signed the contract with them.
Very soon, my insurance company sent a check to them paying them the amount in full. Ofcourse they came over to my home to get my signature as well on that check since it was a joint check. Little did I know that the moment they get the check encashed, they will stop working at my home. I kept trying desperately to contact them. I left various voice mails and sent numerous email messages. None of them got any response. They chose to ignore every attempt I made to contact them.
Not only that, when I dropped into their shop to see if I can custoimize few of the things (like painting with different color or upgrading the flooring material), they quoted me an exhorbitantly high price making me back off on any customization. The cost they were quoting was ridiculously high.
Besides, they broke my home furniture because of their negligent attitude. They neither fixed it nor compensated me for that.
Eventually, for the sake of my family and out of frustration, I decided to fire them and hire another contractor. To my surprise the new contractors finished the job in two weeks. The work which they kept on dragging for almost two months and made my family's life miserable. My family was living there in one of the bedroom upstairs with most of the rest of the home completely in terrible condition. Besides this, the new contractors also customised everything based on my wishes and it cost me way less than what McClincy's was quoting.
Now my home is back to normal inspite of McClincy's leaving it in a horrible condition. Since they were paid in full, you would expect them refund the cost for incomplete work. Instead they went ahead and put a lien against my home asking for more money.
Later I found out that they have a pattern of this kind of behavior. A person who lives close to my home has gone through exact same experience and he was also forced to fire them from job. He is also fighting lien on his home.
If you want your home reconstruction work to get done in time or if you want to stay away from any legal hassles after the construction work, then I recommend staying away from McClincy's. They are after your money. They dont care if the work gets done or not.
McClincy's Home Decorating Flooded our Basement and wants to be paid for doing it !.
Early January, after the 12" of snow followed by heavy rain fell, our sump area alarm sounded around 9pm. This only meant that the sump water was rising and needed attention. Three of us started bailing water out of the sump and hauling it outside. After 3 hours of this we decided that we were not getting ahead of the problem and needed to call a company that had big pumps and could assist. We called McClincy's Home Decorating, they assured that they had big pumps and they would be there in about an hour after stopping to retreive said "big pump"
After arriving and assesing the problem, the worker (never hooking up any pump, big or small), decided to take apart the 2 pumps we had running to allow him to hook up a larger hose to one of the two pumps. Not showing up with any tools to perform this task led to the water rising in the sump area to a level that covered our basement floor to a depth of 3-4 inches in less that 5 minutes.
After days of clean-up and many items being ruined, we then received a bill for over $3300.00 for clean up of the water. I swear to you that this is true. I am not making this up...call them and ask...but please think at least twice before calling McClincy's Home Decorating to perform any work on your home !
McClincy's Home Decorating. Poor follow though. Poor supervision by the contractor.. I hired McClincy's to remodel my kitchen. They were doing great until the decorator made an error that left my range intruding two inches into the dining room. After that everything went down hill. They were looking for a quick fix to the embarrassing problem. They didn't want to have much to do with me and the work became shoddy in many cases. I don't think the man I dealt with handled the workers well when it came to correcting the errors that then began to pile up. The original error was the decorator's and he wanted to blame the workers for his lack of oversight. Finally I just paid them off and tore out the substandard work myself and redid it. Now I know better.
