A cozy, low-key neighborhood spot serves fine versions of American bistro favorites. – The Scene
This little Fremont storefront charms with deco fixtures, a retro diner counter, and an eclectic mix of art hung on walls the color of its namesake fruit-which also decorates the tables. The tiny kitchen and single server make for a meal that's rather slow-paced while diners converse happily over quiet jazz background music.
Start with a smoky, gamey duck liver pate lidded with a thick layer of fat and served with terrific grainy stone-ground mustard, or try a small plate of crispy potato pancakes topped with pretty smoked salmon and spoonfuls of rich mascarpone infused with dill. Pastas might include wide ribbons of pappardelle in a roasted tomato sauce with smatterings of wild mushrooms. Meats like pork tenderloin and Misty Isle ribeye steak are done just right and thoughtfully paired with sides such as creamy, savory Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and a super-cheesy, delicious vegetable gratin.
Great Food – The eggs benedict is increadible. It was a pleasant surprise to have such great food. I am very picky and would not recommend anything unless it is the best. The Persimmon gets a 10 out of 10. I usually go to Paseo across the street but they were closed so decided to check out Persimmon. Now it will be one of my regular places to eat. It is a must try.
Great Ambiance but Lackluster Food – This is an adorable restaurant but the food is less than stellar and bit pricey. I had the pasta primavera that was watery and bland. And unfortunately, the restaurant was empty when we were there so we felt like the waitress/hostess was hovering a little bit.
great neighborhood bistro – rich delightful bistro food and wine. fresh fish is always good. best resturant version of macaroni and cheese ever! Lovely staff. a terriffic place all around. come early for quickest service, the kitchen is small...
Intimate and unpretentious – Persimmon is a cozy spot for american-french bistro type lunch and dinner. Lunch is hardy and just the right amount of food - the house made soups are delicious. Dinner is fancy, but the atmosphere let's you enjoy without feeling intimidated. Yeah to the chef!
