Over the years if I was short and an emergency came up, he let me make payments... He has always ALWAYS let my cat's perscription be filled OVER THE PHONE as I live an hour away now. They even mail it to me. I could at any time go to a vet much closer to me but wouldn't even think of it. He is the best VET in Washington County and his staff is so tenderhearted

Dear Dr. Hansell

Thank you very much for setting my broken leg. Your splint worked great! My leg healed perfectly straight. I like to chew on things and I chewed on the tape regularly but you must have used the “cockatoo proof” kind. Mom and dad are impressed and want to know if there are any other “cockatoo proof” items available. Still, after a month it was looking a bit tattered and dad said it was time to come off anyway. He thought it would be easy, as frayed as it was, but it ended up taking him an hour. He was worried that I might freak out and bite him so he worked through the bars of my cage with hemostats and clippers. Although it took a while that way, it worked out well since I didn’t get stressed out at all. I just hung on the side of my cage and let him work. The leg is still a little weak but I can walk on it fine and I already have enough grip strength in it to hold peanuts and climb around my cage.

Dr. Hansell has been my vet for over 20 years and he has always been there when I needed him. He has always diagnosed my pets correctly, and performed some amazingly complicated surgeries with excellent results. He is a quite man but he reminds me of the Dr House on TV.

He has great knowledge and a wide repertoire of surgical procedures.

Anyone can just "drop a bomb" here without any proof of their allegations - which is why I question the truthfulness of these negative reviews.

I have never had a problem with this clinic. And my dog even died under this clinic and they did everything they could even tho odds were slim. My dog had a labor and couldn't give birth to her pups. They took her in as soon as possible..this was a while ago so I can't quite remember how long but it wasn't too long. They immediately gave her an ultrasound and c sectioned the pups. They were able to save two pups but the mother dog died..they had to put her down..sometimes that happens..but the vet I had was a woman and she called me at 10pm that night..she actually had the dog at her home to monitor her..so I hardly believe this clinic to be unprofessional..i think they would try their best to save your pets..but after she died I was left with 2 pups..one died later from pneumonia but that is common because they don't have a mother to rely on for immunities and care..however I did get one dog out of it and she's a great dog and is still here with us now..considering her hell coming into this world she is the best and strongest dog and I wouldn't have her now if it weren't for this vet clinic..At least they don't suggest euthanization as first option like the Chestnut St clinic does..now you want a jerk personality and dumb vet..go to Chestnut..but not Animal Hospital on 19..they gave always been friendly and professional

I just read the horrible reviews that have been posted on this website and I am completely shocked. I have been a client and my furkids have been to Dr. Hansel for OVER 20+ YEARS. He has NEVER ever acted less than STELLAR with my furkids. I am sickened at the lynching that these animals lovers are giving him. Dr. Hansel AND HIS GREAT staff have always ALWAYS gone above and beyond with me and my kids.

My husband Fred and I have nothing but praise for Dr. John Hansell in caring for our beloved pets since the early 1970's. 4 German Shepherds and many cats.

We had two recent experiences with ER clinics that would be tragic had we gone with their diagnosis.. Our cat had his tail slammed in the door and we were told it must be amputated, but Dr. Hansell, saved it by using great skill. Our kitty has both full use of his tail and full sensation.

This month we rushed our German Shepherd to a Pgh ER clinic and we were told that we had no option but to put her down that she had 24 hours to live! We were devastated! Dr. read their reports, but his experience found the source of the illness. Instead of the ER clinic's prognosis of death, she went home that day and is recovering every hour! She is also playing with the cat that would not have his tail had we taken the advise of the ER Vet.

Dr. John Hansell treats not only the pet with great compassion and expertise, but he treats the owners with those same gifts.

We thank God for you!
