Peace & relaxation – The first time i came here for a service, my sister treated me for a much needed massage and break from reality. That's exactly what i received. The inside of the building is just as unique as the historic pink walls. The inside was dimly lit, i was offered tea and water, and escorted to a comfy couch while i waited. The 30 minute custom massage was soooooo good in my private serene room that i fell asleep-and she let me stay sleep till i woke up-talk about nice! I came back and got another massage as well as ear candling-freak'n awesome. Everyone there was always nice helpful, and informative. I even bought some of the products (Aveeda Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque is awesome!) displayed in the waiting area, along with beautiful unique jewelry. I've never had an issue with bad customer service whether on the phone/in-person, nor witnessed crazy behavior by the employees. Love this place! Going into the basement (i call it the dungeon) was weird at first but its very comfortable.
Uneducated, rude owner is to blame – The owner is a belligerent leech of society, who was probably given the salon for free - which would most likely explain her total disregard for customer service and inability to hire professional and talented staff.
The salon itself is a complete dump, although the pink building would have the potential to be somewhat cute if the snotty young girls that work there would care more about their workplace rather than sitting behind the front desk, eating, gossiping, and even going so far as to complain about their fellow employees in front of customers.
"Unprofessional" is a recurring theme here at East Town Spa, and it is not in the least surprising that it seems to be a recurring theme in several other reviews on this website. From the employees bragging about their most recent weekend debauchery outside of treatment rooms (while spa treatments are in session!), to the rude, insane, and unintelligent owner.
East Town Spa represents the bottom-of-the-barrel, gutter bucket trash of Milwaukee salons. This city is teeming with fantastic and successful salons, East Town Spa is not one of them. You're better off throwing your money at the local Cost Cutters.
My First Visit to East Town Spa – My first visit to East Town Spa was excellent. I called to make an appointment and was able to get in the same day at the time I wanted. The spa has lots of character which makes it very unique and different from your typical spa. I was given a personal tour and was very impressed. I liked all the extra things (jewelry) as well as all the products that were for sale and displayed very nicely. I will be a repeat customer for sure!
Favorite Spa in Milwaukee! – I have been going to East Town Spa for a few years now and I just love it! They are always able to fit me in easily (a lot of times on the same day!) I usually go in with an idea that I want, and the stylist helps to find something that would work with my hair type. The stylists usually have ideas I would have never thought of myself, and I always end up with something I really like. I have had my hair cut (many times) highlights, eyebrow waxing, and a manicure. I will definitely be going back for all of those! I have also bought products from East Town Spa, they got me hooked on bumble and bumble! This is the only place my roommates and I will go to get our hair done anymore!
Absolutely Love It! – I've been going to East Town Spa for at least 10 years now and I've always had a positive experience! The owner is very accommodating and all of the employees are friendly. Services that I have received in the past are haircuts, color, brow waxing, manicures, pedicures and massages and they were all a wonderful experience. I absolutely love their hair products as well. I would highly recommend East Town Spa to anyone and everyone. It is located in a light pink building and the interior is just as charming as the owner.
Not Returning – I think the outside is cute because it's pink, but it sort of looks like a crack house. And the inside is just as terrible. My friend, my sister, and I also did one of the packages. For my friends massage they took her down into a dongen. The paraffin dip was far from good, I left with wax all over my fingers. They cut my hair above my shoulders when I asked for it to be kept below my shoulders, she said it was because she thought I'd look good with short hair. I'm going for my last service next week becuase I want to try and get my moneys worth out of that crap package but I will never return after this. These packages are meant to bring people in not scare them away!
Great Job! – I have been getting haircuts from Marissa for a few months now and I have been more than pleased. She does a great job and she is very personable. Overal, I enjoy giong to East Town and will continue to see Marisssa. I would reccomend this place to anyone!!!
Thank Goodness! – I saw Sean for a cut and highlights. After talking with him and telling him I wanted an overall lighter, brighter blonde he suggested I do an over-all color. I had never done an over-all blonde color before and was a little nervous. Turns out this was the best idea a stylist had ever given me. I loved the result of both the color and the cut. I felt like Sean really listened to me, asked me great questions about what my goals were and worked to achieve my goals. Plus, he had a great sense of humor.
East Town has a great vibe: cool decor, great music and I felt very comfortable when I've gone there.
I plan on going to Sean for a very long time.
SPA? Yeah Right. – So, I bought one of those specials, as did other customers on here for I think $75 for a bundle of services that were worth a few hundred $'s in theory. To get straight to the point, the services were each just OK... definitely not something I would pay full price. Absolutely not. But, my problem was more with the atmosphere. The house looks cute. But, once inside it is NOT relaxing. The stylists, manager, nail techs, and massage therapists surely need to take some etiquette classes and study up on how to treat clients. These guys could benefit from maybe going through the Walmart greeter training, something like that.
For example, when I received my massage... it was not relaxing to hear stylists talk loudly about CRAP or argue with eachother or have inappropriate conversations in my midst. There is a door... but these people were so obnoxious and loud that it didn't make a difference. They're just not business professionals, and neither is the management for not correcting this or caring when you bring this up. I
n my experiences, I have also waited about 25 min. for each scheduled service. I've been on time. However, on a 3rd scheduled service I walked in 5 min. later. I COULDN"T FIND PARKING! The manager refused to allow me the service because of this, and told me I had to reschedule. Ridiculous, since they 1) don't have a parking lot and 2) have made me wait all the times prior and have been late to get me. My time is surely more important than theirs.
Needless to say, I did not finish the services offered. It wasn't worth my time or pain in an environment that was supposed to be a spa or at least spa-like, but was anything but that. I've just never seen such a thing. In my opinion, if you are looking for a nice relaxing place with quality services, avoid this place like the plague, as well as their other establishment on Brady... Ruby & Reagan I think it is. There's a trillion other salons in MKE, and all too many that have better services than here with great management. Also, it seems to me that friends of the owners or actual employees write their own reviews on here. So, beware.
Great hair stylist at East town spa! – I have experienced it all. hair cut, color, and style by Seán. He is a great stylist and has an eye for hair. I'm always extremely satisfied with every thing he has done. I love being able to sit down and tell him to give me something fun and new( he has all my trust). With him being a stylist he is very professional and it shows. I would recommend him to any one who is looking for a little pick me up, he will make you look and feel beautiful! So book your next hair service with Sean at East Town Spa, I promise you will love his work as much as I do :)
Pros: He gives the GREATEST massages and unforgettably relaxing shampoos!
Cons: he wont be easy to get in to see him in the near future I can tell be will be busy!
