Not Happy with Candlelight Bridals – Like the previous two reviews, I had similar problems with Candlelight Bridals. I am the Maid of Honor in an upcoming wedding. The bride gave Candlelight Bridals all of our measurements and they ordered our Alfred Angelo dresses.
Dress Size Ordering Problem: We were supposed to receive the following sizes: 4, 6, 6, and 12. We received sizes 4, 6, 8 and 12. One of the bridesmaids was given a size 8 instead of the size 6 and needed alterations.
Dress Switched Problem: The bride had picked up everyone's dress except mine (she was getting mine at a later date). When the bridesmaid that received the wrong size dress returned to the store with the bride to ask why a size 8 was ordered for her, they said that there was a mistake and she was supposed to be given the size 6 that had not been picked up yet (my dress). They gave this bridesmaid the size 6 dress, fitted it for her large chest, and told her to return in two weeks to pick up her altered dress.
I was called that night by the bride and informed of the dress size switch. I now had a size 8 dress instead of a size 6 dress. I left work early the next day and drove an hour to Covington (I live in Duluth) to discuss the dress sizes. Gigi was not there but the size 8 was given to me and was too big. I was told to return next weekend to get it fitted. When I returned, I was fitted for the dress and told the price. I told Gigi that I had originally ordered the size 6 dress, which was given to another bridesmaid, and that I was not comfortable paying to get the size 8 taken down to a size 6, my original size. I have not picked up the dress yet but I was told it would be charged to the store.
Dress Alteration Problem: The bridesmaid that had her alterations done went to pick up her altered dress on the designated day it was supposed to be done; it was not completed. She was told to return two weeks later.
Overall, I would not recommend Candlelight Bridals. We have had to drive out to Covington multiple times to either get fitted for the dress size we originally ordered or to pick up a dress that was not ready on the designated date. Also, Gigi's disposition was not pleasant and difficult to communicate with.
Frustrated Customer – Everyone is entitled to there opinion. I am just here to tell my experience with this company.
I went to get a bridesmaid dress. Once there, they were very pleasent and I got a good feeling of the place. I tried on a size 4 of my dress and I was able to zip the dress up without any problems but it was a little snug so I assumed once they did all of my measurements I would most likely be getting a size 6-8 dress.
When I went to pick up my dress, I tried it on to see how it would fit, and the dress practically fell off of me. After getting pinned for the alterations that were a must, I checked the size of the dress...They had ordered me a size 12. I did not say anything at the time (although I should have), and set up a date 2 weeks later to come pickup my dress. The seamstress told me she may need to alter it twice because the dress was huge and if any small alterations needed to be done, she would do them the same day.
So two weeks later I showed up around lunch time to pick up my dress. She asked if someone had called and told me to come pick my dress up. I proceeded to tell her the instructions she had given me 2 weeks earlier. I also asked if it would be possible to take the hem up 1 inch above the knee today. When she pulled my dress out. everyone of the pins were still in the dress and she had not touched it since I left 2 wks ago. She proceeded to tell me that I would need to come back another time to get my dress. When I pressed asking why its not done today and cannont be done today, she told me there was no way it could be done since I needed the hem done also. I pressed again saying that everything except for the hem should have already been done today since she told me to pick it up today.
After this she did agree to get the dress done that same day, but at that point the nice helpful tone was gone from her voice. I did need one more alteration that day before I was done and the seemed put out that I kept wanting to try the dress on after each alteration, but after $70 more dollars in alterations I have my dress.
To me, the place seems like they are ordering sizes way to big to ensure they receive the money for much needed alterations.
But you make you make your own decison if you choose.
Horrible service – I would never refer someone to this place. Every bridesmaid they measured got the wrong dress size. One was actually 6 sizes too big! I mistakenly paid for mine before I tried it on so they would not order me a new one that was the right size. The alteration lady GiGi was very rude and hateful. I will definitely not allow her to do my alterations. They tried to team up to cover their mistakes in ordering the wrong sizes. The only one that actually got the correct dress size from the get go was the one my mother measured and called in the numbers herself.
