I went to all of the retail piano stores in the area, checked out some craigslist ads, and The Piano Shoppe was my last stop. The owner is Bob Kimball who has years of experience with pianos. He knows them inside and out. Bob has a small, diverse selection of pianos. And I fell in love with one of them. The piano was over a decade old, but you would swear it was brand new if you saw and played it. When it came time to purchase, Bob was great to work with. He went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied with some minor issues that came up, plus he was willing to negotiate with me to meet me at a price I could afford. And he was kind and patient from the first moment I walked in the door. The beauty of working with Bob is he is also a piano tuner, so you get free tunings with your purchase. Delivery was also included! He's the only salesman in the store, and he's local so he's not going anywhere. And I plan to take advantage of his tuning services for as long as he's available! If you're looking for a piano, a tuner, or just have general questions about pianos, go to downtown Cary and visit Bob at the Piano Shoppe!
Dishonest business. They were going to sell a piano on my behalf, and everything seemed fine. When I finally checked back in after hearing nothing for over a year, I found out that the piano had sold, but I didn't receive any payment or notification whatsoever. Now for over a year I've been fighting for the company to uphold its contract. Do not do business with this company.
I just called on a sunday morning for some advice. The owner, Bob Kimbal, was SOO helpful on the phone. He gave me lots of good advice and recommended other stores where I could purchase the parts that I needed. He also recommended a place I could take my electronic piano keyboard to be fixed. If I need a new one or I need a piano tuner I will definitely call him. Based on this very helpful conversation I highly recommend The Piano Shoppe of Cary.
Beware! They don't do honest business! – The owner Bob sold crappy piano as completely restored one, several keys even had missed strings, pedal was broken too! He'll tell you tuning is free for the first year. It's not easy to get him over to tune, and he did so very quickly and it's still didn't sound right at all. I asked him why so and he replied it sounded great, it's a good piano. I couldn't stand the off-sound of it and finally had someone honest to fix the problems for the second time, as there were so many problems he couldn't finish in one visit.
He wasn't surprised when he found out where I got the piano from. So beware, not to shop there! Don't spend a lot of money and much more just to fix what was supposed to be a great piano!
