They basically lied to me. I agree with Alan to install a new mini split and to fix another one for a certain amount. Half of it was paid in advance and the other half was supposed to be paid at the completion of the work. They came several times to my place and their only concern was to get the money. Alan was always claiming that they had done more than what they were supposed to and wanted to get the money because his boss (who is also his father) was freaking out....
I had a phone conversation with him on Tuesday and told him that under my point of view four things were still missing, one of them to cover a high voltage wire. He continued worried about the money, so I told him I didn't mind to pay him even before he started with these four things as long as I had his word they will complete it. He said that was fine with him. I left him a check underneath the mat of my main door and rely on the word of this man. That was my mistake....
He came, got the money and when I came back from work I realized the high voltage wire was not covered.
I gave him a call and ask him why it was not covered. The response of this liar was simply that after he hung up with me his boss told him they could not do it and they just had to collect the money.
DO NOT USE ABA APPLIANCE INC, there customer service is very poor. I had an appointment for a Fridge/Freezer repair between 8 am and 12 am, after calling at least 5 times that day on status, their repair man turned up at 6:15 PM. This was urgent call as I was attempting to save the food that was in my freezer, due to the lateness of their arrival I had discard most food.
The repair took about 15 minutes where the repair ma installed what he called a temporary for $101.81. There coming back out to install the permanent part for another $100. When I asked the repair man about the temporary part, he indicated that it would good for 10 years but due to company direction I still had to acquire the quote on quote "permanent" part which costs $35 bucks and that they needed to install it. If I didn't agree to this the "temporary part" would need to be removed and I would obviously be back to square one.
Today ABA Appliance were suppose to have someone come by this morning between 8 am and 12 am to put in the "permanent" part, it is now near 12:30 and no one has turned up. After calling customer service, the repair man may now arrive between 1 pm and 5 pm.
RECOMMEND! I am going to have to strongly disagree with some of the other reviews found here... I had a great experience with this company. Called them, had an appt scheduled... showed up early... resolved the issue quickly. I will be returning to this company if I have any issues in the future... Thanks Aaron and Thank You ABA.
Worst Experience! I wish I would have read the reviews! I hope I can stop one person from the frustration I have felt over the past weeks. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
Do Not Use ABA Appliance inc for Alliance Repair. They are untrained. ABA staff are A/C people. The Washing machine repair guy told me he was an A/C guy by training, he told me he just read repair manuals. The job, which was to completely take apart our washer, was supposed to take 4 hours, after an hour he packed up to leave. I said "Wow your done already, I thought to fix it you had to take it all apart" He said " nope I almost had to call for help but I figured it out." I said ,"cool then you will knock off some of the price". He says" Oh I forgot to hook something up let me finished this..." 1 1/2 later he said he was done. The washer worked for about 15 minutes and died. I called ABA back, they sent someone out who was angry, started the washer and said it works. I told him that it will stop after a few minutes, he said "nope it works" and left. The washer is now locked up, can't get clothes out, won't do anything. $350.00 later nothing.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING, RIP OFF
Extremely disappointed. I called them to evaluate my refrigerator's ice dispenser, and was told that the part which was broken didn't come separately and they would have to replace the whole ice dispenser, which would be $250 before labor.
Just spent five minutes on the Sears website and ordered the part for $15.23
Live and learn, but I'll never call these guys again.
Finally following up on my recent A/C woes. The company that first came out was ABA Appliance. I strongly urge you to NEVER use them. The repair they wanted to do, and he was not even sure he could get the part but I found it on the internet for $75 and he said it would probably be $400, was not even the right problem.
The problem was with the outside unit because the compressor went out. I had had ABA out in June when the compressor was still under warranty and instead of letting us know it was starting to fail, he jury-rigged it to keep it going.
Unfortunately, the warranty ran out shortly after they came out in June, so if the idiot had told us back then, we could have gotten a new compressor under warranty back then but now, two months later, it is out warranty. So.....DO NOT USE ABA APPLIANCE!!
Wish I had known this week what a bunch of crooks they are before calling them again. I recently looked them up on the BBB website. BBB gives them a B- since they have had 23 complaints filed against them. It is about to be 24.
So, for future reference for all of you out there in the Austin area needing A/C repair or any other type of appliance repair, DO NOT CALL ABA APPLIANCE!! All they want to do is take your money and they cannot even diagnose what the real problem is. Absolute worst customer service I have ever had!!!
Trash everywhere and no regard for surrounding neighborhood – ABA Appliance has no respect for the neighborhood behind their business. Their dumpster is constantly overflowing and garbage ends up in our yard, in the street and in the neighbors yards. We and our neighbors have tried talking with the employees about the garbage many, many, many times but it hasn't made a difference. I wouldn't recommend spending money with a business who doesn't respect their surrounding community. Just my two cents...
AWESOME COMPANY FROM START TO FINISH – WE HAVE AN EIGHT WEEK OLD BABY IN OUR HOME AND AT AROUND 1AM I WOKE UP SWEATING AND I WENT TO MY THERMOSTAT AND FOUND THAT IT WAS 83 IN OUR HOUSE. I WOKE MY HUSBAND UP AND TOLD HIM SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH OUR AIR CONDITION HE LOOKED IN THE PHONE BOOK STARTED CALLING ANY AIR CONDITION COMPANY THAT WOULD ANSWER THERE PHONE AFTER CALLING ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT COMPANIES WITH NO ANSWER OR NO RETURN CALL AT 1AM A REALLY SWEET GIRL FROM ABA APPLIANCE CALLED US BACK (I AM NOT SURE WHAT HER NAME IS) BUT SHE WAS VERY PROMPT AND VERY NICE SHE TOLD ME SHE WOULD HAVE A TECHNICIAN TO OUR HOME BY 2:30 AM. I AM IN A FRANTIC BECAUSE WE HAVE A BRAND NEW BABY AND IT IS GETTING HOTTER BY THE MINUTE. SHE HAD A TECHNICIAN OUT TO OUR HOME WITH ONE HOUR. WHEN MY HUSBAND ANSWERED THE DOOR THE GUY TOOK HIS HAT OFF BEFORE IN WALKED INTO OUR HOME AND HE ALSO PUT ON THE THINGS ON HIS FEET SO HE WOULD NOT GET OUR FLOORS DIRTY. HE HAD THE BEST MANNERS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. THE GUY ASKED MY HUSBAND TO DIRECT TO OUR THERMOSTAT. I AM NOT SURE WHAT HE DID THERE BUT HE THEN ASKED MY HUSBAND TO BE EXCUSED (GREAT MANNERS) WHILE HE STEPS OUTSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE AIR CONDITION . WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF HIM BEING OUT THERE HE KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR AGAIN AND ASKED MY HUSBAND TO STEP OUT SIDE WITH HIM SO HE COULD SHOW HIM WHAT OUR PROBLEM WAS. WHILE OUTSIDE HE ADVISED MY HUSBAND OF OUR PROBLEM AND THEN ASKED FOR APPROVAL TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THERE SERVICE GUY WAS CHAD AND HE WAS BY FAR THE NICEST SERVICE GUY WE HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. IT TOOK ABOUT ONE HOUR FOR OUR HOUSE TO COOL BACK DOWN BUT IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT ABA APPLIANCE PROVIDED US I DON'T THINK WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STAY IN OUR HOME THE REST OF THAT NIGHT . I JUST WANT TO GIVE A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ABA APPLIANCE FROM THE GIRL WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE TO OUR TECHNICIAN CHAD. THANK YOU SO MUCH. CHAD HAS NOW OFFICIALLY WON ABA APPLIANCE ANOTHER LIFE LONG CUSTOMER. I WILL FOR SURE BE TELLING ALL MY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS ABOUT ABA APPLIANCE. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
BEST IN AUSTIN TEXAS – MY HOUSE DID NOT HAVE A/C AT ALL. I CALLED ABA AND WITH 24 HOURS I HAD A/C IN MY HOUSE, WHICH MY HOUSE IS A OLDER HOUSE AND NEVER HAD A/C. I WOULD SUGGEST ANY ONE I KNOW TO USE THEM. THE OFFICE HELP WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. AND THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO MY HOME AND MADE ME FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE WHOLE TRANSACTION.
