Best Facial – I had never had a facial before, but this was quite a treat! The aesthetician was fantastic. She was very informative. She first asked me a bunch of questions about what kind of skincare I do for my face. Then took a close look at my skin and gave me some recommendations...all in all she said my skin looked good. Then she gave me peel, washed it off, gave me a face massage, exfoliated...it went on...it was pretty awesome. I've never experienced anything like it. She had a great touch. And all in a very comfortable environment. I've never seen a spa quite like that...even in Manhattan. It's beautiful!! This is definitely the best spa in Brooklyn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Impressive – I was recently staying at a local Bed & Breakfast in Park Slope and they recommended D'mai to me when I mentioned I could use a little pampering. I was so pleased with my services. I felt right at home from the moment I walked through the door and when I was taken to wait for my services I was not expecting to see such a beautiful quite Oasis right in the heart of Brooklyn. My massage relaxed me and my facial put me right over the top, if it was up to me I never would of left. I will definately make D'mai a regular stop whenever I am remotely near Park Slope.
WOW – My mom gave me a gift certificate for my birthday to d'mai, I live in Park Slope but usually go into the city for my facials. Wow, was I surprised...what a GREAT experience. The spa is beautiful and my facialist was amazing. She really took her time with me and I left glowing. I will never take the subway home from a facial again.
Overpriced spa experience – This place is overpriced for all their services. My sister in law got a body treatment, only to break out in hives 2 days later. Yes, it is a pleasant environment, but nothing special enough to pay $130 for a one hour massage. They offer some nuts and dried fruit, and some fruity water, but that's it! I expected to be somewhat pampered. Oh well, I won't return!
We take great pride in our very special exfoliating body polish. We use the finest ingredients form a wonderful company called Red Flower. The products are all natural and the exceptional bamboo scrub has never been irritating to any of our other guests. I wonder if your sister-in-law may have had an unknown allergy. It is so hard to know. I do know that we care about your experience and take great pride in our service. We wish you and your sister-in-law well.
They spent all their money on decor, not hiring the best technicians – I had to only go once for a simple treatment (facial and body waxing) to realize this place had problems and I didn't want to return. Not only was the technician lacking in people skills entirely, but after my wax when I got home I found there were stray hairs all over the place that she missed. I am someone who typically doesn't care at all what the place looks like - I want the service done professionally and done right. It is literally all I care about. As long as a place is clean it's acceptable. Which is what's wrong with D'Mai. The owner's values are obviously the polar opposite. The interior of the salon, with its huts and bridges and running water over rocks, is so over the top I almost giggled as I was led through to my treatment room. They try way too hard with the decor and try not at all with providing good service.
It seems you did not have the experience you were looking for at our spa. For that we are sorry. We take great pride in offering our guests effective skin care and relaxing spa treatments in a beautiful environment. More importantly however is the pride we take in our staff. Our therapists share our sense of indulgence and dignity for the spa experience. Our idea of luxury may be a little bit different that yours, and that is OK...each of us finds their own place.
Brooklyn??? – I recently went to the island of St. Barths. There is a well knowm Spa which is very pricey and the least to say was not very pleased with their services. I was very dissapointed on this trip, cause i needed to get some serenity. I mentioned to a freind that i was still not relaxed after my trip.He recomended i go to D'mai. praising the fact that is in our neighborhood and i will totally enjoy it. I was thinking no way ! i spend $$$$ going away on a trip and all i had to do was walk a few blocks down from my house. Sure it enough i took his advice and i could honestly say i was very pleased with the enviroment .I treated myself to a massage with Richard and a facial by a young lady name Sali.
Both treatments were great and i wanted to thank them for their hospitality. Now i know i can save my $ and just walk to my serenity.
Keep up the good work....
satisfactory but unfriendly facial – I went here for a facial a few months back. The front staff was super nice, but I felt like the woman who gave me my treatment was derisive and pushy. She took a look at my face and told me I should upgrade my treatment. I politely told her I'd rather just have the standard treatment for now, thanks, but then she got pushy about it, saying my skin was in poor condition (hey, it's not that bad, lady!). She then sighed unpleasantly and said "Well, fine, I guess if you can't afford it, then just go this one." Okay, who are you to assume that I can't afford it? It's my first time at the place, I'm going to test it out before I go the full scour on my face. I thought it was rude. My skin did look better after the facial, and I'd say she did a fairly good job. But jeez, what an attitude!
My Sanctuary, My Zen, My Return To Me – I have been receiving services at D'mai for the past year and each time I enter the tranquil spa, I feel myself instantly at peace and begin to leave my busy life outside. I am in the service industry and am extremely picky about where I go for treatments. I've had good massages and facials elsewhere, however, it never came full circle. Either the decor was awful, or the noise drew my attention elsewhere. But at D'mai, the calming music, soothing aromas and welcoming staff all come together in perfect harmony. All the details were thought of and it shows with the cucumber water waiting for you, the robes folded just right and the charms placed on the keys for the lockers. I truly look forward to my time when I retreat into another land, D'mai.
Check out Saleh or Shin for facials!
Best Best Best – I am a pampering junkie. I have been to many places in NYC and I have to say that d'mai has become my favorite place to frequent. I would travel distance to get great services, but I no longer need to because d'mai is right here in my neighborhood. The environment is peaceful and beautiful, the staff is friendly and approachable NOT to mention extremely talented. I recommend all of my clients and friends and all have thanked me for the recommendation. I always look forward to my pampering day!
Great massages, don't get a facial – I've been getting massages at D'mai for awhile and love their massages. Service by all staff is friendly and attentive except for the woman who does facials. I have loved all my experiences at D'mai except for two facials.
First, she talks too much during the facial and will try to get you to upgrade to a more expensive facial. When she was examining my face, she said I needed to get my eyebrows waxed but I didn't think it was neccessary but she kept persisting, even saying to me, "You like looking like that?"
She also scrapes your face when she removing blemishes. It hurts. Plus, she kept asking me personal questions which I didn't think was appropriate during a facial.
All in all, avoid the facials. Get a massage! Or waxing. The woman who does waxing there is amazing. Barely hurt for sensitive areas and she was the best waxing treatment I have ever had.
