This place is completely shady. I initially liked it a lot, so much so that I revisited it six times and recommended it to quite a few people; however, my last experience has irreparably damaged my opinion of it. To begin with, the service was painfully slow, despite the fact that the place was not full. The only time the server became attentive was when she knew we were settling our tab. Despite her inattentiveness and the fact that she charged full price for our happy hour drinks, we left her a generous 23% cash tip---a portion of the bill was charged to my credit card but the balance and the complete tip were paid in cash. A few days later, I was surprised to find that an ADDITIONAL 21% tip was added to the final charge that went through on my card. I had specifically written "cash" on the tip line and recorded the base amount on the final total line (and kept a copy of the receipt which reflected the imprint of my handwriting). I called and left a message for the manager, who called me back and assured me that it was an "accident" and that he would refund the overage to my card. He took the time to write down the server's name, the transaction number, date, time, table number, etc., and said he would call me back within the hour to confirm that the refund was being processed.
Needless to say, I have not received a refund or a call back, and the manager has subsequently ignored any attempts that I've made to follow-up on this matter. I can guarantee that this has likely happened to other people, so I would advise anyone who has used a credit card here to double check their statements.
Very affordable for this part of town – This review is for the new location on Restaurant Row on 46 Street.
This place is packed on a recent Thursday at dinner time. It was happy hour and talking was difficult due to the loud noise. I had the pretzel covered chicken tenders as my appetizers and the reuben sandwich. My friends ordered the chicken panini and the burger. They also ordered oysters on the half shell. Not too impressed with the limited dessert selections.
