A great selection of fresh baked goods make this a popular place to stop off for a relaxing morning. Stick around for lunch and you'll be rewarded with tasty soups, sandwiches and pizzettas.

The best thing about this cheery cafe is the large selection of house-made baked goods including some killer baguettes.
Awesome baked goods!.
I LOVE Macrina! And I like the one on Queen Anne better than the one downtown. Their pastries are fantastic and I love the day-old bin.
Customer service tends to be inconsistent and making change can be a problem, but I haven't ever had too much of an issue. They do tend to be a bit short when the line is going out the door.
In any case, Macrina is always one of the first places I go by when I'm in town! I recommend the molasses ginger cookie, buttermilk biscuit, roly-poly and the rocket muffin!
Horrible Customer Service!. The cookies here are great, but other than that, this place is overpriced, has poor service, the coffee is terrible, and the food (aside from the baked goods) is totally unimpressive. Unless I want a good cookie, I will never go here again.
Poor service. Their bread is great, but the service leaves much to be desired. I was recently there and ordered the mushroom and red pepper quiche. There was only one piece left in the case, so when the server handed me a piece and there was still the single piece in the case, I asked again to make sure it was the vegetarian quiche. She said ?of course, that?s what you asked for.? I opened the to go box and it looked like it was ham, so I asked again. She was very rude and would not check for me. I don?t eat meat. I was very disappointed that they wouldn?t correct this error.
Amazing herb baguette. I love macrina for one reason and one reason only. Their Herb Baguette (which sells out every day) compliments pretty much any sandwich or chesse possible. I haven't found any bread more satisfying freshly baked in Seattle. Its also available at Metro Markets.
Slow staff, decent food. The macrina experience is mediocre. The food is decent, but the atmosphere is nothing to boast about. The staff are not particularly friendly or customer-service oriented. It can take forever to get a coffee or lunch. The salads are good, but they never have enough salad dressing. I know a few people who share this same sentiment, and when I mentioned something to a staff person there, they did not seem to care. I was very polite, and suggested that they provide more dressing. I guess they are happy just being mediocre, and not listening to their patron's suggestions. This place is good if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but I would not reccommend going here for a special occasion especially if it is not convenient.
Fresh, hot breads and pastries in a quaint, light-filled storefront on Queen Anne..
In Short
Twelve daily breads, from rye to Greek olive, and a variety of daily special loaves (such as challah on Fridays) are the primary draw. Those craving something sweeter can opt for a caramel brownie, an oversized cookie or the soft, white Whisper cake, laced with strawberry filling. Lunch offers soups, quiche, salads and more.

Great Find. I wandered into Macrina on my 1st trip to Seattle last wkd. It was packed on Sat. morning but immediately got a seat at the counter. The wait staff were all friendly & patient. The eggs & smoked salmon were amazing. The chef behind the counter (calls herself just a cook) was passionate & detailed in her presentation. It tasted even better than it looked. Now when is she gonna call me -Steve
Incredible pastries. I ordered a Macrina cheesecake for a friend's baby shower, and oh. my. lord. The most incredible cheesecake I have ever seen/eaten (and I've eaten my fair share of cheesecake). Also picked up an unexpectedly fabulous pear muffin as a snack. Yes, this place can be crowded, but it is worth the wait.
Just try to walk away from the pastries!. BEST bakery ever - hands down. The people are friendly, the food is delicious from the Fresh Fruit Muffins to their soups and salads. And the small neighboorhood cafe really makes you feel at home. If you don't live close by - you will want to.
