Great tea shop with handmade tables, ability to taste teas and take them home. Believe me, I know a lot about tea and this place is very cozy. Nice looking snacks, too.

Not so great. When Miro first opened up a couple years ago, I was absolutely delighted. I can't drink caffeine, and I'm often frustrated by the lack of teas available in coffee shops. Between their great selection of teas, fabulous crepes, and comfortable seating, I thought I had found a great place to stop and get tea whenever I went to Ballard. But the place has really been on the decline lately. It was once staffed with friendly folks, who obviously had a passion for tea. Now its staffed by a bunch of grumpy hipsters who act very put out when you order something. A few months ago I ordered a drink with soy (I also can't drink dairy), and they accidentally made my drink with milk. No big deal, I understand mistakes happen, so I asked if they could make it again, apologizing that I can't have dairy. The girl behind the counter sighed audibly, roller her eyes, and stomped off to make me another drink. So today, I was willing to give the place one more try. This time, when I asked if I can get a tea, the girl behind the counter mumbled something under her breath in response. I couldn't hear her, so I asked her what she said. Without looking up, and in a very sarcastic tone, she replied, "yes you may." It was really bizarre. So, if you don't mind the attitude and feeling like you are inconveniencing the folks that work there when you place an order, this place is for you. But if you're looking for a nice place to hang out, with friendly people, and a good atmosphere, go somewhere else.

Sheik, sophisticated, innovative teahouse with expert service. I wandered upon this place just strolling Ballard Ave with a friend from Brooklyn, and we both had the same sentiment that it was as if this joint were displaced from the Big Apple--its stylish clean yet comfortable decor was reminiscent of the trendy shops you'd find there. Miro boasts more than an incredible list of beautiful loose teas for sale: what really moved me were the exotic mocktails they had concocted out of different teas, and even food items with tea accents. The staff was super-friendly and eager to help us sample different teas and regale us information about them. It was the tea version of a wine tasting, really. All I can say is I wish there was one of these in my neighborhood on Queen Anne...I would be there every day!

This cozy Ballard Avenue tea bar gives locals another option to get their caffeine fix.. In Short
Like most businesses on the block, this friendly cafe keeps the spirit of the building's industrial roots, featuring exposed heating ducts, high ceilings and lots of ultramodern furniture. Glazed tree trunk benches, a faux bamboo wall and a tawny paint job keep the room from becoming too sterile. Tea drinks are the focus of the menu, though there's a long list of sandwiches and savory and sweet crepes like the Miro Berry, filled with seaonal berries infused with Rose Ambrosia tea.
