BUYER BEWARE! – I am an interior designer who has purchased several antique pieces from Dennis Auction. The first time I purchased items, I was unaware of the 'time limit' for picking items up, and my items were quickly sold. I was never notified of their 'time limit' via telephone, email or letter. They sold my items and kept my money.
Fine. I thought a company had to notify it's customer by mail, before selling something that someone had already paid for?
The second time I purchased items, I was told that the rules had changed. I was told to telephone before coming to their location, to make sure there were people who could have my items ready. Well, it's been seven months, and I am constantly told by the VERY RUDE YOUNG WOMAN WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE TO PHONE BACK ON A DIFFERENT DAY. So, I've telephoned asking to make an appointment to pick up my items, but to no avail. A machine goes on, and my calls have gone unreturned.
BTW - It's always the same young woman who answers the phone at Dennis Auction. To say she is rude is an understatement.
To date, they have my money and my items. I advise anyone who's considering purchasing items from Dennis Auction to take your business elsewhere. Customer service doesn't exist, and you will be forced to deal with a snotty young woman who would be better suited working as a cocktail watiress on an oil rig. Furthermore, I'm sure I"m not the first person who's had this experience at Dennis Auction.
Yes, you may think you scored that wonderful Meiji bronze. They will allow you to pay for it, immediately after the bid has closed. Good luck trying to pick up what ever it is that you purchased.
FYI: The Auctioneer's wife (who owns an antique store locally) sit's in the front row and bids on EVERY ITEM, but never 'buys' a thing.
Auction a big disappointment – My husband and I thought using Dennis Auction would be a good way to sell furniture. When Mr. Dennis arrived to look at everything at our home, he seemed to think everything would sell with no problem and for a good price. Upon arriving at our home with his truck and crew he seemed surprised as to what they were picking up. He agreed to take everything we had earlier agreed upon...he also changed the "moving fee" from one figure to another without discussing it with us. Our furniture was auctioned on November 16th (we could not attend) and cannot believe that what we are being paid is what was made. After several phone calls, a check was finally rec'd by us on January 9th via the US Mail. The check was made out on December 19th...I'm not quite sure why a check takes that long to get from a desk into an envelope, but I'm sure they have a reason. The woman on the phone was never helpful, nor friendly. I would NEVER do business with this company again. I will be donating the furniture I have left.
