The perfect hotel for a stay-cation here in PDX. Rooms with balconies that over look the river. The hotel is a clean modern space that is comfortable and accommodating. Also a prime location for the many festivals that take place along Tom McCall Waterfront Park like the Blues Fest & Rose Festival.
The hotel looked really nice. And that's about the only positive thing I will say about it. The bed was atrociously uncomfortable. It was super firm. The pillows, by contrast, were comically large and fluffy but didn't really have any give. My neck ended up being in an L shape all night. I woke up after 4 hours of sleep with a pinched nerve. At that point, my newlywed husband and I decided to get room service. They had a diminished menu so late at night, which was fine. We just didn't want to pay $9 for a candy bar from the room's bar. They didn't have everything that was in the snack basket package, and substituted the tillamook cheese with pre-cut hamburger cheese slices that was stale and old. And the "seasonal fruit" they provided was an orange. Not even cut or anything, just plopped carelessly in the basket. It was a giant disappointment for our first night as husband and wife. I will definitely never stay at another Kimpton hotel if I can help it. I've stayed in cheap motels that had better accommodations.
I love this hotel – This is a beautiful craftsman style hotel on the river. The bed was so comfortable and that is a big deal when you are on the road for a month. The room was comforable, quiet and the style made it so relaxing. We had a good time and the service was great.
Perfect – My mother stayed here and loved it. Food, shopping and staff were very helpful and kind. The have the most beautiful lobby and rooms. She only wants to stay here when she visits. Wish this place was in Austin Texas when I visit her. Nothing close to this there.
GREAT service, great place for an overnight getaway! – my husband and i went here for a night away from the kids and we're very happy with all the personal attention and service, everyone is so friendly and professional. our room was very nice, a great view of the river and a very comfortable king size bed! we had dinner in the hotels restaurant , the food was great, the setting was o.k., but the drinks from the bar were horrible! the woman at the front desk reccomended a few places nearby, and a map, so we walked a couple of blocks to Veritable Quandary for cocktails instead. in the morning we ordered room service which was promt and delicious! overall it was a really nice stay!!! we'd definately go again.....
Best Hotel – My wife and I stay at The Riverplace every couple of months. We have stayed there for conferences and for the location close to the Keller for Broadway Plays. This hotel is the most comfortable in Portland, and the service is second to none. All the staff are friendly and responsive to any requests. The most professional hotel person that I have ever encountered is Mellissa, who has been there for some time now. She is always there to welcome you with a smile and is always willing to make sure your stay is perfect, which to date, always is. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and we will continue to return.
Swank hotel by the river offers luxurious accommodations and proximity to marina shopping. – The Scene
Located on a boardwalk surrounded by a number of shops, restaurants, art galleries and the RiverPlace Marina, you never really have to leave this hotel. In the summertime, the adjacent Waterfront Park hosts a number of festivals--an excellent way to spend your days. Active guests can jog, stroll or inline skate along the river or visit the on-site gym and Olympic-sized pool. The hotel is walking distance from downtown.
Whether it's business, leisure or romance, the knowledgeable and courteous staff at RiverPlace goes out of its way to accommodate guests. Large bathrooms, bouquets of fresh flowers, fluffy bathrobes and chocolates on the pillows are just some of the reasons people feel pampered at this European-influenced hotel. Condos, suites and guest rooms are available; many have views of the river. The hotel also has a restaurant and a private spa.
Lovely – Nice, big room, attentive staff, wonderful view, spa next door, good restaurant. What more could you want?
overall great experience – the staff is wonderful and very knowledgable and helpful. lunch at the restaurant was great. the views are great, and the streetcar into the hip pearl district was a 5 minute walk from hotel. a nice perk is that all guests get to reserve their 2-person spa for free, and it includes a small and very clean jacuzzi and sauna. a nice touch. we were in a queen room with an uncomfortable bed, then a king room with an amazingly comfortable one. its pricey, but very nice. not at all edge or trendy, though. but they arent messing around with this hotel. they're pros.
The complete package – What a great visit we had here! All the friendlyness and amenities of a boutique hotel with the showcase waterfront location of a bigger establishment. Very warm and "Northwesty". Excellent food in the restaurant, a swanky little spa next door and close access to a free streetcar system that tgakes you to all the best parts of town. It's all here!
Will never stay anywhere else – This hotel is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. We fell in love with their feather beds and have changed our own since we loved them so much. The staff was fantastic, extremely helpful and personable. We didn't meed a snobby employee anywhere. Food at the restaurant was wonderful as well. Having to pay for parking was a turn-off at first but turned out to be an additional treat. The valet service was wonderful. The assisted us with out lugged both coming and going and treated us like royalty. Make sure you don't miss the homemade cookies at the front desk. Ask what time they will be available. We missed the first day and were disappointed we missed it after having the most divine peanut butter cookies the second day. This is a must stay hotel. Try out the Portland Spa that is next door as well. Fabulous!
