Great hotel BUT.. – It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!

Excellent History and location – This hotel is literally a block from Union Station, one block off the 16th Street Mall, and within walking distance of most of LoDo. They offer a courtesy car that will take you to the convention center, Pepsi center, coors field, etc.

Negatives are: the (quite) small queen room I stayed in goes for over $100 a night, parking costs $15 a night for public lot with no In/Out or $26 for Valet. Internet is only free your first 24 hours. No Breakfast, no coffee/tea in the room.

Watch your bill! This hotel isn't worth the price – We went to this hotel to celebrate a special day. We arrived at check in time and found our room wasn't ready. We had to wait a hour for our room to be ready. We upgraded to a nicer room and when we walked in we quickly realized we should not have wasted the money.

The room doors still use old school keys which is cute but not very comforting when it comes to safety. It appears the windows have never been upgraded since the hotel was built in the 1800's and there are no blinds for privacy. One must close the heavy drapes to keep in the warmth, to keep out the horns of traffic below and to have privacy but you sacrifice sunshine. The staff was nice enough to give us complementary pretzels and the five piece bath was nice.

We checked out thinking the hotel was just okay until I looked at my credit card bill a few days later. The hotel had charged us $250 after we checked out. When I called to see why they told us the fee was for smoking in our non-smoking room. My husband and I DO NOT SMOKE and I have no idea where they came up with this charge! I called four times in attempts to get this fixed. Each time someone told me they would call me back after investigating the charge but I never received a return call. The last time I called they told me they would refund the charge only because I was contesting it and they had to, not because they were actually wrong and we really didn't smoke in the room. They eventually refunded the charge over a week later.

Wonderful Experience – My wife and I stayed at the Oxford Hotel this December at it was a fantastic surprise. The hotel staff set the tone for our stay right from the start. Two gentlemen were already unloading our bags before I stepped out of the vehicle. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The room service staff was helpful and timely. The next morning, I found a large silver coffee dispenser in the foyer area of our hotel floor accompanied with glass mugs, creamer, etc. The hotel staff does this every morning on each floor, as well as to stock the lobby lounge with complementary copies of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Denver Post. When my wife and I decided to go exploring Lower Downtown (LoDo) that morning, the hotel concierge recommended we use their complimentary town car (which will take you anywhere you need to go, and pick you up, within a 2 mile radius of the hotel). The driver was extremely nice, and provided several suggestions for dinner/entertainment. Last but not least, the fitness center was great as well (moderately sized but equipped with numerous treadmills, eliptical trainers, bikes, free weights, and a dedicated area for fitness classes (which are offered by the fitness center/spa staff). Overall, for the service and price, the Oxford Hotel is hard to beat!

Suspicious – We had a horrible experience at the Oxford Hotel. The hotel itself was satisfactory however when I found extra charges on my account from room service I tried to resolve it with the front desk management. Instead of crediting my account he ADDED more money! If I didn't double check my bill again I would have paid more than what is supposed to be charged.

I have called numerous times and finally spoke to a supervisor who assured me that she would send me an itemized copy of my bill. Seven weeks later and I am still waiting for it so that I can dispute the extra charges.

I would highly advise to double check the folio before leaving the Oxford Hotel. There is definitely something going on specially with the room service charges and added gratuity.

How does this place get 4 stars? – 1st room: paint bubled in areas in the main room, obvious where the wall has been patched, paint chipped in some areas in the bathroom. Bathrrom was small, plastic bath tub. Toliet made the bathroom feel very much like a public stall. Holes visible in the wall where the head board used to be attached. Several tiles were cracked in the bathroom. Got woken up at 5:30 with various loud trucks. Noise continued until 8:00. Room temp. was warm and the air conditioning was non-functional. Sheets had ciggarette burns. Boasted 42" plasma TV. Picture quality was horrible. May be a good tv but they had a poor video feed.

Requested a different room. Explained problems with room. Staff at front desk was RUDE, but changed my room. No offer to help move rooms.

New room was much improved. But the plug on the sink was non-functional.

Horrible experience.

Shoe shines and sherry on the house: Stay at this grand hotel and get rock-star service. – The Scene
In 1891, the luxurious Oxford Hotel was built next to Union Station and became the hub of downtown Denver. With a renovation in 1983, it now anchors the revitalized Lower Downtown District. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Oxford is Denver's oldest remaining grand hotel. Coors Field, the 16th Street Mall, Larimer Square, the Tattered Cover bookstore and many fine restaurants, shops and galleries are all within easy walking distance.

The Details
Furnished with European antiques, the lobby area and guest rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The Oxford is known for exemplary service, including complimentary tea and coffee, afternoon sherry, newspapers, shoe shines and downtown limousine service. Inside the Oxford, McCormick's Fish House and the popular art-deco Cruise Room bar (modeled after the bar on the Queen Mary) are favorite downtown destinations.

A TRULY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!! – My daughter & I visited the Oxford Hotel and were very thankful for the terrific service, beautiful rooms, and for the delicious restaraunte (McCormick's). Also, the Tattered Cover was awesome. What a truly superb holiday!

overrated – My husband and I stayed at the Oxford a while ago on our anniversary and to begin, the room was gorgeous and the doormen were extremely nice. I loved being driven to dinner...BUT just a warning, watch your bill...we were charged for parking when it was included in our package and then were charged for opening the mini-bar but did not take anything. In their defense, the charges were refunded two months later after 4 phone calls. Great weekend, just a reminder to keep your eyes open.
