It was a huge letdown right from walking inside. The deccor is shockingly tasteless the walls are papered with hundreds of paper napkin drawings, and anime posters, the dity nooks and cranies hold cheap plastic toys. The tables give one the general impression of a cafeteria. Now onto the menu, standard fair, simplistic at best. No signature dishes or large selection here. The soft drink I ordered was presented IN A CAN, how cheap can you get. The cook arrived to begin preparing the selected food seconds after the waitress brought out a limp salad and salty broth. He made inappropriate comments and jokes, not well appreciated by my party. He was so focused on getting a laugh he burned the eggs and then the cooked to order steaks of everyone that ordered them, he used so much oil, or as he called it "sun tan lotion". The meal was salty, and burnt. If you are looking for dinner and a show in one in a pleasant setting with friendly service, do not look to find it here.
Perhaps the best Japanese Steak House ever.... This is a very special restaurant. The decor, the staff, and the food combine to make you very welcome. Even the table ventilation is special -- the roof here is clean, unlike some places you could mention. *Cough--Benihana--cough* The food is top-quality, with the unfortunately requisite price, but you'd be paying 50% more elsewhere for less. The "show" depends on who's cooking that night -- once we had a nice Latino gent whose take on this uniquely Japanese art form was both hilarious and joyful. This is a family-run restaurant, and the service has always been top notch. Do come early for dinner, as the wait can be lengthy. I can't say enough nice things about Hope and his crew. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Try it out -- I'm fairly sure it will be one of yours, too! Oh, one other thing: when you see a negative review, check to see how many reviews the person has done. The only negative review on this restaurant is by a person with only one review -- the negative one. Care to guess whether it's by a competitor or disgruntled former employee? Either way, it's wrong and evil. Bari-bari means "hurry up" in Japanese, according to Hope. You should hurry in today!
Great place-great food. This is one of the best Japanese steak/grilling places around. The food is very very good and the prices are reasonable die this type of restaurants. I go here because of the food, the service, and the atmosphere- not for a big, overpriced "show" that ends up costing me more!
Great food - friendly staff.
After trying this place for the first time recently, I have decided I am a big fan of BariBari. I like the fact that there is only 6 tables unlike Benihana where there are 28 tables. Benihana serves you and before you are even done eating they hand you the check. At Bari Bari the friendly staff does not make you feel like just another number. They are pleasant and don't rush you out when you are done eating.
The food is better then I expected. Everything cooked in front of you in the traditional teppanyaki style and was wonderful. Between the 4 of us we had lobster, fillet mignon, chicken and shrimp and everything was made perfectly.
Even the chefs are very personable. I plan on returning to Bari Bari many times in the future,
Best teppanyaki in ALL of Orange County
A+++
Do not believe reviews.
I think these are planted reviews. Either that or the reviewers have never been to really good tasty Japanese teppanyaki. Like so many Japanese restaurants, this is really run by Koreans and they have not been able
to get the teppanyaki "show" and more important, the taste to match the best of real Japanese restaurants.
I have posted this same review on other sites because suspiciously this place gets way too many 5 stars.
It is mediocre at best. I just want truth in reviews.
