Great Place with great hospitality – We have stayed there many times for weekends and for quick getaways. The rooms are very nicely decorated. The website shows the rooms and we have now stayed in a number of them. We are always warned that two of the rooms in the main inn sit above the bar so it usually goes late on weekends. They have a no smoking policy so smokers sit outside where they have heat lamps adjacent to the bar as most bars do.
We usually get the Filet and a seafood dish. On our most recent trip we tried one of the specials, a cajun seafood mix with 'dirty rice' and it was fantastic. The new chef has a 3 star rating from michelin. While there for lunch we tried the 'Bar Only" menu and the filet stew was excellent with a nice touch of sherry and though not a fan of oysters, we had a great time with the oysters rockefeller.
We had the home made apple pie ala mode and the homemade cinammon ice cream, nothing was left on our plates. Can't wait for the outdoor gardens to open up.
We have been there a number of times on grill night when the Stockton inn puts a grill in the gardens and the place gets packed. You walk up to the owner and show him how wide you want your cut of sirloin, ribeye or filet or pick one of the lobster scallop or salmon selections. A musician plays great background music from the beatles, dylan, yount, eagles and clapton. I think his name is Briz.
The Stockton Inn Old Town Tavern has some great bartenders with hilarious personalities. The Inn also has a blues festival coming up in September so we are booking our rooms tomorrow.
Should Be Called Garbage Inn – These people are theee most unprofessional dunces you'll ever meet. Aside from having to stay awake all night listening to the drunks in the bar that supposedly closed at 12, we endured clouds of cigarette smoke wafting up the staircase into the room. No apologies were made. This place left a bad taste in our mouths that we'll never forget. It seemed like nothing short of a brothel. There are plenty of inns to stay in NJ. Choose another and get your money's worth. This place is junk.
