We take all our cars to Shell Rapid Lube on Wyoming for oil changes and emissions tests. We really appreciate their personal service and attention to detail. All the guys work together to make sure they get us in and out quickly.
I took my Ford Explorer to Shell Rapid Lube for the first time this year and was very pleased with the service and knowledge that both the owner and the technicians demonstrated. They changed the oil as planned, and also noticed a leak in my steering column that could have been a major problem if left untreated (they told me about the leak and were able to refer me to a mechanic that could help.) They were not pushy and did not recommend tons of other services that were "urgently" needed. They were honest about what the car did and did not need, and I greatly appreciate them. I will certainly return!
Owner's response to review from 2006 – This negative review just came to my attention and I would like to respond.
Ntb states that we recommend her windshield wipers be replaced, following a test with the squirter flooding the windshield. Significant streaking was evident. I even demonstrated this to the customer. The customer said they were just replaced. This is a common response, which I hear many times a week. The quality of all but the most expensive wipers in local parts stores are generally poor. My blades are a professional grade that can not be purchased in parts stores. I warranty them for a full year. All wiper blades are not created equal!
In response to the pcv hose issue: Yes, we did crack the hose while checking the pcv valve. The hose was dry rotted and it disintegrated when my technician pulled on it to check the pcv. I did not have the exact preformed hose, so used another rubber line which worked until I obtained the correct part from the dealer. I did not pay the $2 which the customer claims, as dealers charge almost as much for wholesale as retail on some items. Pre-formed hoses are never cheap. It was apparent that no one had checked the customer's pcv valve in many years.
As the owner of this business for almost ten years, I strive to treat customers as I would like to be treated. I run a professional, honest and friendly business. When situations like this happen, regretfully, there is always the chance of a misunderstanding.
Please try out my shop. We treat our customers with respect, professionalism and honesty. Every day, we turn customers away for oil changes because they are premature on mileage or time. Just because it is the only way to treat customers!
Editorial Review – Global energy and petrochemical group maintains more than 13,000 U.S. gas stations with convenience markets and car service centers stocking Top Tier fuels.
Can not Recommend – On 2-occasions we had our vehicle serviced by this company. On one service visit we were told our windshield wipers needed replacment, "they were replaced just weeks earlier"! We did however, over look this incident feeling it may have been an honest mis-judgement. Our second visit for an oil change, the owner of Shell Rapid-Lube pulled out our PVC valve and suggested it be replaced...in doing so I was told the short pre-formed hose to this valve was broken, and that it was broken prior to his pulling on it. NOTE: This hose is connected to a major vacuum source from the engine...if it had been broken before he pulled on it, the engine would not have idled smoothly-due to a large amout of suction (vacuum) loss. This is a pre-formed factory type hose and must be replaced by the same like hose...The owner tried to force a gasoline hose in it's place and tried to make it work on the cars engine. He then later went and bought the proper hose at a parts store. This hose was no more than an 1 1/2 inches in length and I was charged over $11.00 for this part. I believe the owner (mechanic) caused this hose to break when he pulled it from the cars engine...I would have been willing to pay his cost, most likely around $2. to $3. dollars...however, NOT $11.00 The owner (mechanic) prior to the hose replacement insisted he didn't brake the part and suggested I drive the car with a huge vacuum leak to a Dealership for repair. It was ONLY then he went to the trouble to go by the hose and put it on the engine as I insisted, It was fine when I drove in and would not risk damage to my car-driving it with a large vacuum malfunction.
The car ran perfect before this visit to Shell Rapid-Lube. Because the owner argued continually insisting it was my problem and not his- I can not recommend this company to any one- in addition will never go back for service.
