New Menu is Disappointing – Let's see, where should we eat tonight? Well, we haven't tried Zia restaurant yet. Let me check their website and peruse the menu. Look honey, lots of vegetarian options! Look at all the pasta dishes and they even have their own veggie burger. Ok, sounds yummy; can't wait to get there. Well, what a disappointment to get seated, read the menu, and find out that Zia had changed their food selections and someone forgot to update their website. All the pasta dishes were gone, the veggie burger tossed out, and a few other veggie options were dropped. A couple remained on the menu, but if you are not in the mood for hummus, eggs, or a heavy dose of cheese, don't bother going. My husband is the fish-eating kind of vegetarian, so he was very happy with his Mahi, Mahi. Me? I settled for the hummus wrap with a side of greens. The wrap is made with, of course, hummus, red bell peppers, artichoke hearts, olives, and greens. I ordered the wrap without the olives only to be told the wrap was pre-assembled and couldn't be made like a special order. Ok, just bring me the wrap as is; I'll be fine. The presentation was very nice. It looked very appetizing. Although wraps are supposed to be eaten with the hand, this one is definately a knife and fork kind. It fell apart as soon as you tried to lift it. No big deal; it gave me an excuse not to eat like I was at a picnic versus a nice chic restaurant. I was able to remove the olives, so that helped, but one bite and I knew right away that the red bell peppers and the artichoke hearts were the kind taken from a oil-filled jar. The entire hummus wrap was oily beyond enjoyment. And as promised on the menu, it was filled with greens, just like the ones sitting on the side of my plate next to the wrap. Nothing like a double dose!
The point is, Zia has tossed out all of the good veggie options, that I have not choice not to come back. Why bother?
Scrupmptious – My, this sure is a tasy place to eat! We have a pleasurable experience every time we dine in. The blond waitress with the glasses is delightful, and has a certain swish which livens up her section. Most delicious pastas, and across from the sprightly Cowgirl. Semper ubi sub ubi!
