We were visiting family in Las Cruces and they took us to Lorenzo's for dinner and it was amazing! I had the Green Chile Lasagna and it was fabulous! The service was great too! I highly recommend it!

Really Disappointed – I have never written a review and never planned to but I had to say something about this place.

I went by myself at dinner time. It was not packed but there were a good amount of customers. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge me. The wine list was limited esp. if you want to order by the glass.

I ordered the special... gnocchi with a tomato basil sauce. My salad was just ok and the bread took ten minutes to come to me... it was hot, fresh and burned. When my meal finally came I was not happy. The gnocchi was obviously premade/ frozen from a package. The sauce was no better. It tasted like they got it out of a jar and put some course ground pepper and onions in it to make it seem as though it wasnt. I barely ate it. Then, I waited and waited and waited some more for my check. Meanwhile the hostess grabbed my plate (with no acknowledgement to me) and packaged up my meal. She seperated the gnocchi from the bread with a napkin... um... I didnt think the meal could be more unappetizing but paper from the napkin really put it over the edge.

My gross meal was $20. Too expensive for a meal i could have bought at the grocery store from the frozen food section for $4.

Very poor customer service in town...not worth your money – worse service I have ever had. Tried to call in an order for pickup after sitting 5 minutes on hold they simply hung up! Then I called to ask for manager and he said to bad go somewhere else. Another day went in there wanted Italian food so bad. The food was cold and day old! will never return to that business! We need a real Italian restaurant here in town!

One of the best in Las Cruces, for sure! – Lorenzo's is excellent! I have traveled extensively all over the world and lived in several large U.S. cities as well as a couple of different countries. Lorenzo's is definitely "4 stars"! I've eaten there probably 30+ times both alone or with family and friends and have never been served anything but excellent fare! The Steak Fettucine is marvelous -- and a favorite! The lunchtime sandwiches made on their own special bread are delightful! Hard to imagine that anyone would be disappointed. Wish they had a bigger, more sophisticated wine list to offer, but what they have is good. Always like the Merlot!

Service is usually good, can be a little bit slow at very busy times, like Friday and Saturday nights, but that happens anywhere.

Great Italian food!!!! – Whoever wrote that terrible review of Lorenzo's must be on prozac. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood, though not Italian (Irish) and have eaten in may Italian restaurants inluding the famous Mama Leoni's in Manhattan. Lorenzon's reminds me of my childhood with the frescos on the wall. The food is delicious and very reminiscient of my early days in NJ. So what if the pizza was burnt!!!! So was it a De Lucia's and Orlando's in Raritan, NJ and those guys just got off the boat. I love Italian food, reminds me of my childhood with the many Italian restaurant in the vicinity of my home. I even remember walking down the street and hearing Italian spoken by the old men and women. Only three Catholic churches; St. Ann"s for the Italians, St. Bernard's for the Irish and St. Joseph's for the Poles. Wonderful time to grow up in America. Lighten up dude and eat the piizza. They all came here to be Americans. Deal with the food and get over being a snob. Can't wait to get to Las Cruces again, by the way that will be this weekend and I will be eating at the Lorenzo's on University. Hope to see you there.

Ate at Lorenzo's on May 12. Had a wonderful time, service was excellent and so was the food. Always eat at Lorenzo's on University whenever I go to Las Cruces. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone. It is also wonderful for families. Relax and enjoy!!!

Sorry, but this is not good food – I have eaten at Lorenzo's (University) at least seven times. I keep going back thinking I must have ordered the wrong thing, or they just had a bad day, because alot of people rant and rave about Lorenzo's. But the food never gets any better. The pizza was burnt. The sandwich was dry and hard as a rock. The appetizer bread was literally "hard as a rock" and almost broke the table when we tried to break it apart it on the table edge. I love bread, but this wasn't "bread". The salad had nothing on it but the grated parmesian I had put on it. Once I had some really good Penne Alfredo. The next time I ordered it, it was awful. I know that it wants to be a good restuarant, it just isn't. The people that rave about it seem to all love the meatballs. I haven't had the meatballs. So if you like meatballs, you might want to try them. Otherwise....

03/08/2012 Note - This restaurant has since closed.

I agree!! – Lorenzo's Pan Am is the best Italian in the area, I guess I should say Sicilian! Each time I've been (and I've been a few times), the restaurant gets better and better - from the time I'm greeted at the door to the time I leave. It's fabulous and I highly urge EVERYONE to visit at least once!

GREAT DISCOVERY – I was so infuriated by the first review that I had to write this rebuttal. I'm an Italian restaurant fanatic and I have eaten at both locations several times with friends and family, and noone was ever disappointed. The great discovery was in the only meat on the menu - meatballs with red currants! - something so delicious that I had to try everything on the menu with this ingredient. I'm looking forward to my upcoming return to Las Cruces and Lorenzo's is a big part of the anticipation.
