Flowers and Fish just don't mix – May I suggest a coffee shop and a florist since fish are deader than the dead flowers?
I have a small investment in fish for my apartment and I love flowers. I thought this would be my one stop shop, but seriously this pairing doesn't seem to match well.
Perhaps splitting this two and doing each separately may be a start.
Try it and decide for yourself.
DON'T SPEND A PENNY TO THIS PLACE!!! – WOW, I'm so glad to see that I am not the only one out there that has gotten ripped off by these people! In addition to buying homely fishes that died, I had purchased two 70 gallon fish tanks from him and 4 months later one of them cracked and flooded my whole apartment! It was a nightmare. Not only did the owner care less when I called crying about the disaster, but he told me it was my fault because I bought a cheap tank with no warranty and that my floor was "uneven". Huh? Does he know what my floors look like? And if I had known before hand how ridiculously cheap it would be and how much money I would lose, I never would have bought it!
To top it off the 2nd one cracked and shattered a month and a half later!! Twice I had to frantically rescue over 30 fishes and exotic plants AND I lost important books&documents and also damaged instruments, carpet, and couch in which I had to throw away because it was too soiled with fish water.
It was obvious that he would care less about it as he stated that they were cheap and not under warranty but he would not even consider taking back any of my perfectly good equipment (filters, lights, hoods, etc.) that IS under warranty. What am I going to do with all this expensive equipment with no fish tanks? It has been a complete nightmare! I lost thousands of dollars from buying these cheap tanks and he continues to rip people off everyday!
Anyone have any suggestion how we can get these guys back for fish cruelty, unsafe environment, and unfair business practice??
Fish Crammed in Tiny Little Compartments. – I am only a semi-experienced aquarist, but I actively discuss aquarium matters on online forums with other aquarists and study how to best provide a good environment for my fish.
When I visited this store, I could not help but notice just how many exotic fish they had, but most of them pretty much crammed into tiny tiny compartments. Most of us aquarists are aware that in order to maintain a healthy fish, you need to keep within the boundaries of the stocking ratio... and there is no way that those poor fish are healthy stuck in compartments so small they can barely swim around. many fish looked very stressed and depressed... they had sea horses that hardly moved, I thought they were dead. They seem to offer their fish for a pretty affordable price, but with so many rare fish, and it's low price, it makes me wonder how they stock these fish... are they humane or did someone just capture them from the sea and sell it to them??? I cannot help being suspicious about this store.
Wonderful. – This place was so cool. Where do you see a flower shop and aquarium combined?! They have a wide variety of exotic fishes and beautiful flowers! The people there are so nice and very helpful. I go there once a week just to see what kind of new aquatic animals they have and stop by the flower shop on the way out for some flowers. Overall, a great place to stop at and check out.
Poor Quality Fish, Even worse customer service – The selection of fish and other aquarium animals is amazing, but the quality is not very good. When I shop there and look at the fish, I just get the feeling that they are not cared for very well. I have made a few purchases here and have a 50% success rate of my fish surviving - not very good. However, the main reason I would not recommend this place is the poor customer service they never fail to deliver every single time I shop there. Just straight up rude and unfriendly. It is as if they really don't want you to be there. There are many other really great shops for fish lovers in this city, skip 6th Ave Aquarium.
One fish returned, three dead within a week – I just bought four freshwater fish here. One I had to return because I was told that it wouldn't grow too big for my tank and that it would get along fine with little fish. When I got it home and researched it on the internet, I discovered the fish I was sold would actually get 7-10 inches long and *was* a threat to my smaller fish. They did trade in the fish for another one, but didn't offer to make up the cost difference. The other three fish I bought died within the week. Overall, not such a great experience.
Fish will be dead within 24 hours! – When I have purchased fish here they are usually all dead within a day. The tanks are overstocked and if it was any other animals they would be cited. I really feel sorry for the fish there ... jammed in tanks swimming around with dead fish in the tank. The staff is not helpful at all and will hand you a net to get your own fish. They have no advice to give and are more concerned about socializing than helping customers. Prices on tanks and supplies are reasonable, but because they take such poor care of their fish I will not shop there.
Not a good place for beginner aquarist...... – The aquarium part of this store is not what I would recommand. The staffs there is not informative, no advise what so ever!! You better be a pro before you shop there. And dead fish in the tanks?? Hum....what's that about? Over all this store is like a costco--help yourself, no question ask.
