I am a 21 year old female who was born with a genetic condition in which my heart had a hole in the middle of the main valves. I had a stroke on 2/7/12 while at work. Emergency services brought me to Summerlin Hospital which was mistake number 1. The paramedic informed the E.R. doctor (Dr. Grabert) that I was indeed having a stroke (obvious signs including no right hand control. difficulty speaking, excessively high heart beat and blood pressure) and the Doctor belittled the paramedic mocking him because he didn't go to medical school. He told the paramedic that I was having a panic attack and he was going to give me valum and send me home. He did just that, sent me home with no ability to move the right side of my body and unable to form a sentence.

I was readmitted less than 48 hours later with signs of brain injury (excessive vomiting, severe dizziness, confusion). The hospital has NOTHING to amend their mistake and has been sending me bill after bill for the following week I spent in the hospital (despite having adequate insurance coverage). I still suffer from the symptoms that went untreated for a stroke and I feel that everyone should know the danger your Emergency Room doctor put me in. As stated in every piece of stroke literature; if a stroke goes untreated for an hour, it will cause permanent damage or even death. Mine went untreated for 48 hours and patient care hasn't even reached out to me once. If I was fifty years older I would have died after the doctor sent me home. Now I just get to deal with permanent brain damage for the rest of my life.

I have been fairly quiet about my experiences with Summerlin hospital, but I truly feel that everyone should understand the risk they're facing when walking though those E.R. doors hoping someone's going to save their life. Luckily, I'm friends with several local news anchors and their stations have been very interested in my story, I just haven't decided which station would get the most coverage yet. I've given the hospital a full six months to reach out and try to make mends and they have decided to sweep it under the rug---I could have died and you think that I'm just going to "let it go?" HA!

ER Staff Saved My Life! – On March 9, 2012, following an injection for foot pain, I went into anaphylactic shock. I was transported unconscious via Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Team 2 to Summerlin Hospital E. R. I cannot say enough about the professional care I received at the hands of the entire E R staff, and especially Dr. O'Reilly and nurse Michelle. Michelle was a wonder, taking a few minutes away from my side to deliver a baby in the doorway to my room! The E R staff were very busy, but not too busy to be polite, professional and caring in every way. Michelle even took the time to order a meal for my husband, who had gone several hours by my side without eating. My life was saved by the quick action of Dr. O'Reilly and Michelle. I cannot thank them enough.

Horrible nursing staff – I would like to thank the nurses at Summerlin Hospital for ruining the memories of the September 2011 birth of my first child. I chose Summerlin Hospital because of proximity to my home despite warnings of poor nursing staff from friends. I am not a complainer so I felt that I would surely be fine with a normal level of care. What we got was condescending, ambivalent, incompetant and dismissive care. I have so many bad comments about my experience that I will limit this review to a couple of issues.

My husband and I were left COMPLETLY alone THREE separate times during the hour that I was pushing my son out. When my doctor arrived to the room moments before my son was born we had been left alone (for the 3rd time) for almost 10 minutes and were monitoring contractions and pushing by ourselves. Needless to say my doctor exclaimed and asked where the heck everyone was and took over quickly and despite a third degree laceration for me my son was born healthy. The "nurse" was a trainee who was obviously running her first delivery with no supervision. She left the room three times with no word as to when she would return. She did say that one time she left was because she needed to "get some air and a drink of water".

My post-delivery care wasn't much better. I was unable to get anyone to bring me any Ibuprofen. It would take around 1.5-2 hours from time of request to actual receipt of medication. Please note that I casually asked if they were busy during my delivery and the day after and was told that it was average to slow for them. Also, I delivered at 7pm and was not fed until the following morning despite asking my nurse for food 3 times before falling asleep. In addition any attempts to send me flowers were unsuccessful because people were told I was no longer in the hospital.

Please note that all other staff (i.e. Ultrasound technicians, phlebotomists, etc) were all courteous and professional. Also the nurse who checked me out was very kind but she said she was new and had just started working there after relocating from another state.

Bad communication and uncaring staff – My sister has been in and out of hospitals here and in southern california for the last four years. Summerline is the worst by far. Garnted she is an end stage alcholic and has brought these things on herself but is it NOT fo rthe STAFF to judge when they are being paid to diagnose and assist. This hospital did neither.

I don't think I can list all of the problems but here are the worst.

I am trying to arrange a rehab/group home situation for my sister. I contacted a program called the Guardian Program run by the County/State but they needed to speak to my sister's case manger.

I called the hospital 6 times in 5 days to get the case manager to help me. NOt once did they call back. Mary Beth is the name of the case manager for my sister's floor. NOTHING. The day the doctor called to say she needed to go into a hospice, Mary Beth called to tell me to make arrangements to get my sister out ASAP. The hospice nurse was told if I didn't get her out that day they would contact any hospice to take her.

She is an end stage alcoholic but she was given no drugs for the DT's for the fist 36 hours. Then they calle dme at 12:30 am to tell me they were going to strap her down and give her drugs. The drugs they were giving were supposed to be give prior to detox and rpior to her needing to be strapped down. The nurses there know nothing.

This is the worst hospital I have ever dealt with. NO ONE should go there.

Uninvolved Nurses and Staff – I'm not sure we will go back to Summerlin. The hospital facilities and room was very nice but the staff were the most univolved, uncaring I've seen in a hospital. The nurse preparing my husband for surgery was caustic and threatening to him until I came back to pre-op. The check-in staff were the pits. After his surgery I waited 2 hours and went to the desk to ask them to check on where he was - the rude person brushed me off saying someone would call me (without even asking the name of the patient) after another 30 minutes my poor husband had to call me on my cell to tell me where he was. He had been asking the nurse for an hour and a half to find me. The nurses did not even look at his wound until just before the doctor came in - I stayed overnight regardless of their rules because I knew no one would check on him. Our surgeon was the only bright spot in dealing with the medical staff at Summerlin. If you are looking for quality care - find another hospital

our son died as the result of bad decisions made by E.R. Dr – OUR SON, NICHOLAS GAVIN DIED 12/01/09 DUE TO VERY

BAD DECISIONS MADE BY THE E.R. doctor. It has totally destroyed our lives and no one seems to care because everyone thinks doctors are "GODS"! Nick was only 28 years and not ready to die! I will fight for justice until I am laying in the box beside my son. I hope Dr. Pape has a MERRY CHRISTMAS because we will not thanks to his

uncaring and bad decisions he made that led up to the death of our son. MAY HE ROT IN HELL!!!

Appalling doesn't begin to cover it – Appalling doesn't begin to cover the level of care received here. They failed to read my mother's chart over and over again and failed to take decent care of her over and over again.

First, they drew blood MULTIPLE TIMES from a place that was extremely dangerous due to her medical condition, which they would have known had they actually read her chart or the 3 signs says "DO NOT DRAW BLOOD FROM HERE".

They failed to read her chart and had no clue that she was on dialysis until I specifically told the nurse "you can't get a urine sample because she's on dialysis!" to which she responded "Oh...so what am I supposed to do?" I don't know - you're the nurse!!

They gave her the WRONG medicines on several occasions.

She fell out of bed and NOBODY noticed. I came into the room to find her on the floor. I couldn't lift her back up by myself, so I pressed the call button over and over again. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, nobody had come. Nobody came until I walked out into the hall and started screaming for help.

There are many other examples, but these are just the beginning. Avoid this hospital like the plague.

ACL Surgery – Overall a wonderful hospital to have ACL surgery. My check in nurse was Lina and she was very easy to work with and made me feel comfortable and confident. Dr. Bigler and his PA Jason Rogers were totally awesome and did an exceptional job throughout the entire process. Pricila helped me in recovery and made it as fun as could be and treated me exceptionally well. I gave her a hug before leaving and plan on using Summerlin hospital and their staff for any future needs. Great JOB!

Excellent hospital to have your children at – I just recently had my daughter back in May at Summerlin hospital. Dr Harter delivered both my children and of course he is an excellent Dr. I recommend him to anyone. He is definatly an artist when it comes to surgery..I had c-section so I spent a few days there and the nurses were wonderful..All but one. My favorite nurses name was Barbara. She was always checking on me and made sure I had everything. Not only was she good to me and my new baby but she was very pleasant to all my visitors, especially my other daughter. Definatly recommend Summerlin hospital to everyone!

some wonderful nurses – I had both of my children there, had a great experience both times. I had my children naturally without an epidural, the nurses were wonderful, one in particular from England was my angel! My friends also have had good experiences there.
