1st I will say these guys never did me wrong you guys must have the wrong store! 2nd I only did 20 or so special orders and never had one problem! and third I have not bought a guitar since these guys closed! Every other store is just trying to rip you off and lie to you...
Nothing bad to say about these guys bought everything I own from them!! The best service I could of ever asked for!!
Pat's Desert Music, Pat's Desert Guitars, Desert Guitars..whatever name..Bought new guitar. Was told it was sent and it wasn't. Waited & waited, called daily and finally received guitar and accessories that cost almost $500. But received no purchase receipt and they are not an authorized dealer, so I have no warranty. Will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
Same Scams Different Location – FYI is now Desert Guitars!! Same scams different location in Henderson. Several months ago I took my son for his lesson at Pats. Come to find out they CLOSED!! Without notice. Needless to say I felt cheated, but let it go. When I saw some of the same adds on CL that Pats used to have I went down to this location on Eastern. Sure enough Frank,Pat & the Pats Desert Music Trailer were all there with some BS about a new owner, blah, blah. I was then assured by Frank that my money would be returned and that the"New owner" would call me. Days later "Surprise!!" no call. I returned today to be told "get this?" that we had 3 missed appointments & that made it even. WOW!! This must be the times when the teacher was sick or couldn't get a ride cause we missed zero on our accord. So they basically stole my money straight away. It's a shame because I really wanted to contribute to a local store rather then the big 2 in town. Here's hoping this location goes out of business faster then the last. No other kids should be victimized by these people. By the way I have never wrote on yelp before, but felt they did us so dirty I had to.
These guys reopened... – FYI this place has reopened as Desert Guitars on the southeast corner of Horizon and Eastern, just south of the grocery store complex. Frank is working there, he told me it was under new ownership but the business card says Pat Kahn. I was trying to look up the phone number as I had misplaced the card and stumbled across these reviews, Im glad I did as I was going to place a special order for a Schecter, ended up going to musicians friend instead. If anyone is looking to get ahold of these guys the number is 675-7550 there is no advertised number or website for the new location from what I can see, which in this day and age tells you something.
Worst employer Ever – Hi everyone Dave Chase here
I was one of the guitar teachers at Pats for over 2 years now. I feel bad for the students that paid high prices for guitar and bass lessons and never got a lesson or all the lessons they paid for. I got burned to I
" PAT'S DESERT MUSIC
Whatever you do, do not pay any money up front for a "special order" item. The merchandise you paid for will never arrive and Pat's Desert Music will not give you a refund even though you hadn't received any merchandise. Basically they will steal your money. I have been f@*^ed around with and told countless excuses (lies) for the last six months. They are supposedly moving to a new location but the sign on their previous (now vacant) location states that they will be open at a new location Sept. 1st but also does not mention any address for said location. I feel I've been completely burned and will be taking legal action soon. It's too bad that I can't give them any lower a rating than one star.
Beware of Special Orders – I want to add my voice to those who have expressed concerns and have been cheated by Pat's Desert Music when placing special orders. Over a year ago I ordered and prepaid for a Fender American Deluxe Stratocatster because I was told they could get one in a week. The week passed and when I went to get my guitar, I was told Deluxe's were hard to get. I asked if I could switch my order to an American Standard and was told yes by Frank and then when I followed up with Pat, he agreed to the switch and told me he would refund the difference in price between the two guitars when the Standard came in. Another week went by and no guitar. This time I was told it may take a few months. I agreed to wait when Pat told me he would only charge what he had to pay Fender for the guitar. I asked if I could get the difference then and he said he wouldn't know what Fender was going to charge him until it was shipped.
This began an endless string of excuses and lies. I was told by Frank on several occasions when I visited the store to get my money back that Pat was actually in California getting the guitar. This was not true. In fact after waiting for a year, I finally called Fender and they shipped the guitar to Pat's that day. Three days later I had a Standard, but no refund as promised. For three weeks I called and dropped by the store on a regular basis being given a new excuse each time and each time being told by Frank that Pat would call me to resolve the issue.
Pat never called and has not responded to my emails. Now a month later I am issuing this warning so others will not get swindled. Pat still owes me the difference between what he paid for an American Standard and the payment I gave him for an American Deluxe. That would be approximately $650.
The final time I spoke to Frank, I mentioned the reviews I had read online and he told me that each time the store got a negative review they resolved the issue. I'm still waiting for them to resolve this one.
I have done business with Guitar Center, Cow Town, and Sam Ash, they are all better than Pat's and therefore I see no reason to do business with someone this unscrupulous.
Be warned. – I signed up for bass lessons over a month ago. Prepaid for my first lesson and scheduled for the following week. The day comes, and I get a call two hours before my scheduled time that the instructor was sick. No big deal, it happens, and my lesson is pushed back to the following week. Get a call again a few hours before my lesson. The instructor can't get a ride. Okay. The instructor is a flake. I schedule with a different guy, one I had lessons with years ago at a different business. Apparently the instructor never gave them the okay to schedule people for him on that particular day, which I find out about the day before, so cancellation #3. they tell me he rearranged his schedule to accommodate me for the following week. Today I get a call saying he can't get a ride. So... It's been a month. I'm out the money, and still haven't managed any lessons. A this point I ask for a refund. They say they can't give a refund until their accountant comes in on money? What???? Every other store I have ever been in can give you a refund on the spot. Either cash from the drawer or a chargeback to a credit card. While it seems to be a nice little store with decent prices, I'm tired of their false promises and won't be doing business there again. My next call is to my credit card company to contest the charge and make sure I get my money back.
