Should be called Service Least – I brought my Sharp 46" LCD with an AV box in for repair since the unit stopped working. I realized that the problem existed in the AV box, but the tech insisted that I bring in the flat screen as well. That was a hassle as the cables had been fished through the wall for a clean installation. But, I disassembled and pulled apart everything and took them in.
After a few days, I called Service West and was informed that the AV box needed to be "rebuilt" at a cost of $600. I told the tech to wait, I wanted to do some research and I would get back to him. A few hours later I recieved a call from the tech stating that the AV box could not be rebuilt, and I needed a new one from Sharp. $1100 was the cost !!.
I am thankful I did some research on the internet, and I have a little electronics experience. I found that the problem I was experiencing was not uncommon for this model of Sharp. Seems a $8 chip on a circuit board fries, and the power is cut to the D/C portion of the box. I located a NEW circuit board for $135, and installed it (15 minutes to do). Plugged it in and guess what? Unit worked like new. I have since located the chip that blows, and bought two of them for $16. I will repair the bad board with these so the next time this happens, I'm not without TV for a week.
Service West obviously either has the WORST TV techs around, or doesn't know how to use the internet. Or, worse yet, they are ripoff artists. If I EVER need service on an electronic unit, I will drive to Sacramento before I use/recommend Service West.
Their name should be SERVICE WORST – It took them almost 4 months to replace a power supply on a 9 month old LCD. Within a year the same problem reoccured.
After calling them repeatedly for over two months to get them to commit to a service call and not getting even the courtesy of a reply I gave up.
They are without doubt the worst service company I have ever dealt with IN MY LIFE!!!!
Needless to say I will never do business with them and will tell everyone I can how bad they are. The do not deserve to be in business.
Abhorrent service, stay away from this business – I'd heard plenty of negative comments circulating about this place, but decided to try them anyway since there are few alternatives in Reno. My TV was under warranty, but in every contact I had with them they kept trying to come up with reasons to charge me anyway. My TV was damaged under their care and they didn't even put the TV back together with all the screws.
I will never do business with them EVER again and I hope nobody else does either.
Got my TV Back ! – took quite a while to get my tv repaired. but I finally got it back and working properly. they know what they're doing but lack in customer communication skills.
Worst, rudest service I have received anywhere in the U.S. --CONSUMER BEWARE! – They lie about your repairs, about why they missed delivery, and the obese woman that answers the phone is so rude you want to roll her to the river and push. Unfortunately, they do warranty work, so you may not have a choice--but if you do-- AVOID THIS PLACE!
